JJ for Sam Young

Young is not happy with his minutes in Memphis. Grizz are thin in the bigs section and it's clear that JJ is not in the kings long term plans. Young is a decent offensive player but i like him more for his defense. In all honesty, i don't entirely know if there are enough minutes for Young on this team as is, and this would leave us a bit thin in bigs as well. But we need defense. I think he would be a good back up for Thornton and could see significant minutes in some match ups.

Half of our roster is already guards, no need for another one.

half of our roster is young undersized guards tho. As much as i like Reke, Thornton, IT, and have hopes for Jimmer, i dont know if that roto is going to get it done on a contender. Yes we already have guards, but that doesnt mean we cant upgrade/ balance our guard rotation more. We have greater needs for other positions, but the team sucks, obviously what he have isnt getting it done, this roster needs to change.

Just about every championship contending team has 1 guy in the starting roto who is mainly there for defense, if not more. We have hayes but we need someone like that in the guards or small forward positions if we ever want to change the defense culture of this team.

John Salmons and Tyreke are already among the better guard defenders in the league with Reke having the potential to be an absolute defensive monster when all is said and done. In fact, all of our current guard rotation with one glaring exception is at the very least adequate at defense, with Marcus being the weakest (omitting Jimmer here because that skews things a bit). And honestly, Sam Young's defense isn't even as good as Reke or Salmons.

We have absolutely no reason to make this trade at all.
