for the last time...I want to say that these jerseys look NOTHING like LA jerseys. But they ARE ugly as hell!!!

Firstly, the uniforms are just hideous. Laker colored or not, they're fugly. Anyone who says they like them is either lying or brainwashed. No one can possibly enjoy watching their team cavorting around the court dressed up like shiny puke popsicles.
Secondly, and even more troublesome, the desperation surrounding "The Gold Standard" is just sad. Embarassing and sad. Web site? Bad. New unis? Bad. The giant "6" outside of Arco? Bad... and a little odd. Last night's constant insistance on shoving the franchise's love for its fanbase down our throats, however? That was just creepy. I wanna know how big the guy standing off camera must have been to intimidate LaSalle Thompson into changing his opinion about the new uniforms.

Hello, Maloofs????? Put a decent team on the court (without the drama) that will play their hearts out and we, the loyal and long-suffering fans, will support them through thick and thin. I think we've earned the right to be treated like adults and not children who must be constantly buoyed up with false praise. I don't want to be TOLD I'm a fantastic fan. That's not the Maloofs' or the organziation's job. Their job is to enable us to continue to be the best fans in the NBA. If they do their jobs, then we can continue to do our job...we'll root for the team with our heart, soul, and wallet.

Yeah, they don't really look good on TV, but in person they are OK. They aren't anything specail, and they DO NOT look ANYTHING like the Lakers colorways in person. Maybe on TV but whatever. I am just saying that it doesn't look good, but it isn't THAT bad.

The uniforms are crap.
They looked so hideous on players yesterday against the lakers.
Never liked them and after seeing the team play in them, I still don't like them.

Oh great another thread on the Kings alt. jersey. I think some people forget the reason behind wearing these jerseys. The jersey represents the "6th man" or the fans and i think as long as we know that it doesnt hurt to wear them. IMO I think they will get rid of them next year. You guys are complaining way to much, its not like they changed our home and road jerseys to gold all of a sudden.

It's a message board. People complain. It's why they bother to sit down and type out things on their keyboard and then hit the "submit reply" button.
P.S. And I really hate to be the one to break this to you, but it's not all about tribute to the fans. Bottom line, it's about money, plain and simple. The ONLY reason teams create alternate jerseys is so that they can sell replicas of them to fans. More options mean more potential sales...

The jerseys aren't all that bad, but the one thing I don't like is that the numbers on the back of the jersey are too hard to see, they mix in too much.
Man, I just wish they would've made these things in metallic silver. That would be soooo awesome!!! That would be the best looking jersey around.

I guess I'm part of a dying breed. I love the GAME of basketball. Have for over 40 years. The idea that players have to dress up in shiny uniforms to capture the attention of the fans makes me throw up in my mouth just a little.
Basketball should be entertaining, but it should not be about the ENTERTAINMENT as much as the competition between highly skilled athletes.
Look at the Spurs. They put out a superior product and they don't need a lot of shiny objects and flashy signs to do it. They do it with hard work and dedication and team effort.
The gold uniforms are nothing more than an attempt to convince some fans that they're the greatest fans around. Well, news flash - the Sacramento Kings fans have been loyal for a very long time and they didn't need to be reminded how good they were.
You really want to reach out to the fans and express your gratitude? Have a contest; let the fans design potential new alternate uniforms. Have the fans VOTE on the choices. Then use the winning entry. That would be fan involvement.
What we're seeing is smoke and mirrors. You don't keep support by being ingenuous. The Kings earned our love and respect because of how they played ON the court (or - in the early years - in spite of how they played on the court), not how they fawned about how good we were as fans.
Sorry, but this whole thing is just a little sad...
I love the Kings and I'll continue to love them. All truth be told, I don't care what they wear. I won't be buying one of those gold jerseys because my team's colors are purple, black and silver. I don't wear pink Kings jerseys for the same reason. (Retro jerseys are different. At least they actually represent colors the team once wore.)
What really disturbs me is how desperate this whole "fan love" thing has come across. And it still reminds me - more than anything else - of two stories: "The Emperor's New Clothes" and "The Wizard of Oz" (Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.)
Fans should be loyal to and follow their teams because it's what they want to do, NOT because someone in the marketing department decides the fan base will depart UNLESS they overwhelm them with flattery and shiny statues and uniforms to match.

I don't see why they don't get input from fans/players. I can just imagine Brad's face if they came to him and said what do you think about wearing gold jerseys. He would have been injured falling over laughing.
I know the Falcons have been asking the players for their input on the uniforms as well as the coaches. If, as has been stated the new jerseys have been created as a tribute to the fans, it should be something they like and with some exceptions here, most people cannot stand them. If you want to pay tribute to us, try asking us what we want instead of assuming we will like these monstrocities.
