Jeremy Lin

All-Star
Have you guys been seeing this guy? At first i thought it was a out of body experience/one night only thing. But seeing this guy play, his bball IQ is VERY HIGH. He reads the game very well and is very quick, also keeps his dribble at times where alot of gaurds would stop. How the hell did no one see this? I mean surely the Warriors must have seen this in practice at least. Man the Knicks got a big break. That crossover and dunk on John Wall was sick.

I guess anyone who drops 38 on LA without Melo or Amare around warrants their own thread.

I don't believe what I'm seeing from this undrafted player. Of course if helps that is is playing with a great veteran screen and roll partner in Chandler and having the proper coach for his game.

The Yellow Mamba poster was hilarious.

Really excited for Lin's success! Also, really excites me more when it's Jimmer's time to shine, i know it will come!

How does Keith Smart not get personally blamed for completely whiffing on Lin?

He's the one man who controlled Lin's gametime more than anyone else (as his coach when both were with the Warriors last year), and I haven't heard anyone question why he didn't see what Lin was capable of.

The Kings hypothetically could have picked him up off of waivers, but with Smart on the staff there's no way Lin would come here, since Smart didn't play him with the Warriors.

So within a few games of Lin getting to the Knicks and playing for D'Antoni (apparently only due to desperation at the PG spot), he blows up and shows what he can do.

Do KF's feel comfortable with Smart's abilities to get good play out of his players?

i think it's more the system that's helping him succeed. d'antoni did it with nash and amare and figured maybe lin and chandler have similar skills. as much as i wanted lin here, i don't think he would have gotten much playing time behind our current players and our big men aren't great pick n roll players. having chandler to lob it up to really helps. i don't really blame keith smart, there was an interview where smart saw potential in lin, but i dont think he would get much pt behind monta and curry. sure acie law got in before him but maybe he just fits keith smart's system better.

This kid is good. How good is to be seen. Is he already a superstar? Is he a good player that is taking advantage of defenses, but not as good as he is playing?

I feel like he is just taking an advantage of his opportunity to it's fullest.

I don't think he'll be a superstar but will could have a career of a Ginobili type player in impact and play style. He has some of the same weaknesses as Tyreke in favoring his right, forces some things resulting in turnovers and a work in progress jump shot. What he does have an advantage in is that he can play in a pick and roll style game and relies more on his craftiness rather than just bullying his way into the paint.

His emergence though has saved Di'antoni's job and the Knicks (early) season. With this 6 game win streak they finally moved into the 8 spot in the East. I think if the Kings play like they did against the Bulls they can end the Lin streak.

When the Kings play the Knicks, Smart will come face-to-face with his potentially career-damaging oversight re: Lin

This is absurd, the way this kid is tearing up the NBA, and Smart so far has been able to dodge all culpability in sitting him on the bench (or the NBADL) all last year - I hope he gets his nose rubbed in it and has to explain how he could be SO wrong about Lin.
I just hope the Kings don;t get killed by a Jeremy Lin game-winning shot to make it ridiculously clear.

Oh, crap - I just realized - Lin is going to have more motivation than ever before to show up his former coach who almost submarined his career.

Knicks fly home late tonight from Toronto to meet Kings who are in the air about same time likewise arriving late in NYC. Now, Linsanity buildup begins again. This time Lin walks into a standing ovation at Madison Square Garden as emperor of the Big Apple or is it the entire NBA universe.

Can Tyreke Evans do anything to upset the apple cart? Can he wear Lin into submission by shear force of his physical advantage - or wilt away like all others of late?

IMO, Kings man-to-man defense is so utterly mediocre to utterly horrible why not just zone up - you're going to have to play some zone D during stretches of this road trip. Apply maximum pressure on Lin with endless traps, pressure the pick and roll, and keep Cousins out of foul trouble - which with Chandler/Amare on the inside attack won't be easy.

Kings need to play 2-3 zone (in heavy doses) and force Knicks to shoot over it and then sag in late in shot clock to stop Knicks inside game.

I'm not worried about Kings offense one bit as long as they make shots, rebound, and limit turnovers - of course easier said than done with this young Kings team.

Should be fun starting at 4:30 PT tomorrow. GO KINGS!

I support Lin, but if you were Coach Smart, would you have played Lin over Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry?

Absolutely not. But complaints by those complaining were that Smart wasn't very smart as he hardly played Lin at all and basically only in garbage time.

well looks like keith smart is the only coach that knows how to keep jeremy lin under 20 ppg. dont give him playing time or let your team get blown out against him so he sits half the game. both ways i wouldn't recommend as long term solutions if you want to keep your head coaching job :p

Mike D'antoni was about to cut Lin, and basically only played him because had too.

I wouldn't exactly say he'd evaluated his "talent" that well.

people are just trying to knock smart because he's the coach of the kings.

I lived in SF last year and watched this kid play and let me tell you what I'd tell my brother, "that Lin kid can play I don't get what coach Smart is doing." He has game and he's smart about it.

NYC streak ended a game after the Kings played them by the Hornets. This was the headline. Yellow Mamba (which I had no problem with) has nothing on this by ESPN (not some random sign holder).

Linsanity has exposed that racism is ok if you put it in puns. I guess we still live in the 1940s. We still live in the dark ages.

Racism isn't really something that Makes me think we still live in the dark ages. You know what does though? Religion and creationists.

Hey! I think I know how to start a flame war!

In other words, you can stop going there. Seriously.

I made an isolated comment. My apologies. It doesn't irk me, but I think it's extremely stupid on people's part to keep on insisting to make these types of comments or play on words without thinking people are going to get offended.
