Yeah... little more impressed with Wynton's work,but none of it is ground breaking.

Thats a good list. Let me add some. Wycliffe Gordon, Clifford Brown, Wynton (although he's not real ground breaking, but still pretty damn good). I'll give some more later.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.

He was in a "Where Are They Now?" segment on some Fox Sports show, and it was stated that he plays bass and releases jazz albums.

I prefer piano trios the most, so Bill Evans is my favorite. When it comes to jazz and country, I focus nearly all of my attention on the classic artists; the only contemporary jazz performers I listen to are Brad Mehldau and John Zorn (although Zorn's music is avant-garde and can be waaaay the hell out there).

Just to add a few more. Arturo Sandoval, Dave Grusin, GRP All-Star Big Band (the who's who of jazz on one album).

I also like some of the old stuff, the Count Basie charts, Ellington, some of the old Bobby Darin stuff.

Lately I've been listening to a lot of Eddie Palmieri (and his band) as well.

Sonny is so amazing...probably the biggest influence on my playing at this point. I'm also really into Stan Getz

I'm not the biggest fan of Getz playing in general (I mean I love it, he's just not my favorite), but I'd say he probably has the undisputed best tone ever for a saxophone player. What do you think?

I'd go for Sam Butera on that one, but I love Getz as well.

Getz is highly underrated as a saxophonist and improvisor in general. A lot of people haven't heard the stuff he did with Chick Corea (Sweet Rain)...incredible. Also, his "Focus" album is amazing (him improvising over symphony arrangements by Eddie Sauter). My personal favorite though is "People Time". He did this towards the end of his life. It's just him on tenor and Kenny Barron on piano. In between the two sets, he was spitting up blood and knew the end was near. But he played beautifully. Does an awesome rendition of Night and Day.

Actually, lately for "sound" I've been heavily influenced by Branford...and with Branford then, comes Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Sonny Rollins...all those guys that go into his amazing beefy sound.

I got a oscar peterson, dizzy and stuff smith one. awesome

I'm a violinist, so I like the hard swing style stuff plays. I also like charles mingus (bass) and nat king cole (piano)'s trio.

Bill Evans, Herbie Hancok, Miles Davis...

Phillip Aaberg may not be jazz as it is usually imagined, but he is one heck of a pianist...

I'm no jazz snob, I dig George Benson too :d
