Jazz open to trading Devin Harris and Paul Milsap

The thing about Harris is I don't know if his all star season is more towards his natural level of ability, and the poor play since then has been becasue of bad coaching/surroundings, or if his all star season was an abberation, and he really isn't a top 15 pg. I can't tell, and if it's closer to the latter, I'd rather take my chances with Jimmer. I don't think Harris is as good as either of Denvers pg's, and neither of them are top 10.

And I don't want Millsap. Not at all. We need Daly. If not Daly, then another defensive/shot blocking presence.

Both players won't fit in our system right now.

Harris won't free up Evans with his poor perimeter shooting and Milsap would put our twin tower advantage to its end.

But it's still interesting esp. if we can become the 3rd team on such a trade like with Indiana who clearly needs a PG and PF.

Say we draft Fredette at #7 and trade with Casspi and Cisco in 3 team trade with the Jazz and Pacers

Kings:
Trades: (#7)Fredette/Casspi/Cisco
Acquires: Granger/Motiejunas

Jazz:
Trades:Harris/Milsap/(#12)Motiejunas
Acquires: (#7)Fredette/Cisco/Casspi

Indiana:
Trades: Granger
Acquires: Harris/Millsap

Not sure if the salary would match. But this is one way for us to be excited for this Utah scenario.

I don't really like the idea of trading the pick unless it's part of a trade to bring top a 25 caliber player to Sacramento. They don't need to trade the pick just to get some role players. They can get those in free agency.

I would be pretty pissed off if we traded 7 for Harris and Millsap. Both are solid to good players, but there's not really any room for them, and I'd rather take my chances with our pick.

While I'd be happy to add Granger to the team, I'm not sure I like the idea of trading away someone like Jimmer for Motiejunas. IMO, a big is the least of our worries now, and we mustn't forget that Whiteside, DMC and even JT are likely to get better. The same goes with Omri and Donte, although this is prob the last season for them to really show what they can bring to the team. Frankly I'm not that big on Granger, because I don't think bringing in another big time scorer is a good idea. I'm looking more for a veteran SF who spaces the floor, can guard the best wing player on the other team and contribute with his experience. Think of a rich man's Ime Udoka/Bruce Bowen.

I'm amazed at the value some have given to this 7th pick, and Casspi and Garcia for that matter.

I think it's more that as others have alluded to, neither one of them really fits the Kings needs right now. It's not that it's a bad trade it's just that I think in the long term a player like Leonard or Jimmer will probably help the Kings more.

if the 7th is jimmer. i'll take that anyday over harris and the 6'7 second coming of karl malone in millsap.

that trade does not address any of our needs. thats just shuffling the deck and hoping something good happens.

I'll buy the "don't fit" excuse for now, but its not like we r one piece away from the championship. We r bottom dwellers and need better players. Id be happy getting milsap & harris for a #7 in a weak draft + casspi & garcia. Some kings fans really over value our own players. I believe milsap/harris>jt/beno so at minimum this strengthens our bench. Again this depends on if we resign sammy & thornton. If we do, the fitting in excuse is somewhat valid

No room. Remember how much better we got after the Landry trade? Sure, Thornton helped a ton, but trading Landry also helped us out a lot.

Landry/JT/DMC/Dally was just too many high minute big men. None of them could really get in a solid flow because one mistake ment the other guy could come right in. You add Milsap to that big man rotation and we are back to square one.

Same goes for Devin Harris. Harris/Evans/Garcia/Udrih/Thornton ... just too many cooks in the kitchen.

Even up until last year, I would have agreed on the "acquire random talent and see what fits philosophy." Not now.
We have plenty of the right pieces in place. The reason you don't see the fit is because they are all pretty young. They're a stew that needs time to percolate, and pieces need to be put in place to help their growth, not stagnate it. Harris/Milsap are starters, and would be starters here because of that veteran experience, which would misguidedly trump potential.

Look at it this way: do you really think Westphal could be counted on to NOT start them? They would get minutes. A slew of minutes, and it would stagnate the team chemistry and growth that was there at the end of the season. Record be damned, this team isn't a bunch of life-less bottom dwellers. There's direction, and there's an identity, much of which rests on both Thornton and Dalembert coming back.

There are a lot of fans who overrate Kings players but i've also noticed that there are a lot who seem to think that any NBA player who's not currently a King would be some big upgrade, too. Assuming the Jazz were willing to trade Harris and Milsap for Casspi and the #7, that would tell you quite a bit about Milsap and Harris.

thats the thing. i bet if you brought up this trade to utah, they would laugh in your face. the jazz didnt bring up that specific trade, a kingsfan poster did. the only reason someone would make such a lopsided trade is to cut salary. it's some of the kings fans that overvalue our players that either think this is a fair trade or think that the 7/casspi/garcia is better than milsap/harris. i personally would think we are robbing utah with that trade (again i am not talking about those who say they wouldnt do this trade because of fit. just those who dont believe milsap and harris is worth a 7 pick in this weak draft plus filler)
