So, what did he have to say?
Well, for one thing, he got caught in traffic on 80 and was late. He had a small phone conversation while driving in with Grant and Mike. For some reason Grant had to leave at 6 o'clock so he wasn't there for the interview when Jason finally arrived.
Although Grant was nice, you could tell he was a little miffed that Jason didn't allow for enough time to get there on time. Basicly, Jason just took questions from the fans that called in. Most of which were things that I had no interest in. Mike was his usual milktoast self, asking nothing but puff ball questions. Someone did ask if he was working on precieved weaknesses in the offseason, and were the things Jason thought he needed to work on, the same things the team thought he needed to work on. He said yes, and then went on to say that he's been working on his left hand and also on his jumpshot.
He said that when he plays one on one he gets only 1 point if he scores with his right hand, but gets two points if he scores with his left. He agreed with a caller that he looked forward to playing with a point guard that had the height to see over the opposition and find him when he's running the floor. When asked who the leader of the team was, he sort of hesitated and worked his way around to finally saying that Martin is the face of the team, and therefore is the perceived leader. I threw in the word perceived, because that was the feeling I was getting from him.
He said he would be in sacramento till the end of august and then he was going to take a vacation and sit on a beach somewhere to rest his legs. Then it was back to work in preperation for training camp. He also said that he likes Westphal, whose tougher than he thought. He said Westphal was pretty hard on him during the summer league, but that he liked that and needed it. Memory fails on the rest. Maybe someone else that listened can supply more info...
