Any questions?

And yes, I know we lost. This is, more than anything else, an indication of faith in Jason and his future as a King.

A little early to say we lost! lol. Ive kept my faith in Jason and I plan to do keep on doing so. Draft Rubio!

He's gotta develop the killer instinct in the paint - and hopefully break his habit of that dang power dribble. Once he does that his TO's per game go down and his points will go up!

And as I said in the game thread, I hope he does break his habit of the power dribble - right after the final game of this season.

;)

Jason has a good game. He needs to have his head in the game consistantly on both ends of the floor for 82 games though. Good game today though.:)

Yeah, why can't he do this against a non-atrocious with actual big men? There are far too many games when he'll pull down only three or four rebounds. That's just flat out atrocious for a 6'11 PF getting 25+ minutes a game.

Because he's a rookie still learning his craft? You can expect perfection in his first year, but you're only going to be disappointed. I think people need to appreciate the growth he's already showing and not throw around terms like "atrocious" quite so quickly.

Yep, grab Rubio! I've seen lots of highlight reels, but when I see his, I am amazed. They guy just has this crazy knack for what's going to happen, before it happens.

Blake Griffen, on the other hand, gives me a feeling he's going to be like Gerald Wallace, but only more damaging to himself, because he's bigger.

Back to the topic at hand - If Jason keeps to improve the way he has so far, we may look back on this season with fondness, as a start of a great career...and with our Kings.

:D

When will Thompson learn to limit his fouls? Also, while Jason is still young he is old for a rookie. I am much more impressed by Hawes who is two years younger. Why doesn't Hawes get the love Jason does on this board?

Look into the threads from last year, when Spencer was a rookie, and you'll see lots of love.

Jason is learning to limit his fouls. He's a work in progress and from a small school. If he weren't, he wouldn't have been available when we grabbed him.

he has had fewer than 5 rebounds in only 11 games. only 2 of those games did he get 25+ min. There is slightly over 130 players in the league that play PF or C in the NBA. 130 out of all the players that have came through high school and college and over seas that actually made an NBA team. calling any of that 130 atrocious is not very fact driven. in fact calling any of the LESS than 500 players that are currently in the NBA (including inactives) atrocious at the game of basketball is not very fact driven.

Okay, I gotta cry strawman on this last part: when somebody suggests that an NBA player is "atrocious," I think it's universally understood by all right-thinking people that the descriptive "atrocious" is being applied relative to the other 0.000008% of people in the world who are in the NBA, and not the 99.999992% who aren't.

I relate the word atrocious as not being good. I was refering to the fact they are an NBA player means the a pretty dman good. I do see your point. But How can you judge how good a rookie is because he isnt getting double doubles against Dwight Howard?

I guess i just get a little tired of players getting flack when they have a good game because it wasnt against an all-star. Especially when said player is a rookie.

He had a 20/10 game against the boston celtics with their garnets, perkins' powes and big babies!

Yes, has Jason Thompson ever had an "And-1"? I swear for a guy around the basket as much as he is, I don't think he has ever gets a 3 point play.

Do they keep stats on that sort of thing? For a big guy in double figure scoring (over 10 a game), I bet he has fewer 3 point plays than any guy in the league.

Otis Thorpe back in the day, Wayman Tisdale in his heyday, C-Webb in his prime, use to be masters at drawing at fouls and finishing. Absorb contact, concentrate, put a touch on your shot, and make the hoop!

JT is like a daffadil or lilly in wind the wind the way he reacts. He needs to hit the weights, work on developing a feathery touch, and do specific drills in the off-season where he is hit (w/coach with blocking pads) and still score. About 1,000,000 reps seems about right.

I would venture to say that if Webb went to the basket the same way JT does, he would still get the foul that Jason doesn't get. Please, everyone open your eyes. He's a rookie and he's getting the rookie treatment. Hawes got it last year. Its not right, but its a fact of life in the NBA. Last night Hawes got hammered by two players and drew a technical for his outburst. A few plays later Thompson got called for a foul when he appeared to barely touch, if at all, the other player.

As far as his rebounding, quit just reading the stats at the end of the game, and actually watch the game. Watch how many times Thompson blocks out one or two players and allows one of his teammates to grab a rebound. Watch how many times a game he tips the ball to one of his teammates. Thats why he's always on the plus side in the plus minus game in rebounding. The fact is, he makes a difference even when he doesn't get the rebound.

I am excited for JT next season if he is dedicated to staying and playing all summer. The Kings youth have seemed to really benefit from whatever training that do in the offseason (except Douby). Look at Hawes or Martin or Garcia; huge leaps in play, new tools, better at running offensive schemes... He has a lot to learn about the NBA game and offseason is the perfect time to do that. He has all the tools that he needs to be a 20-10 guy if he can just refine his game. He has had the best rookie season of any King I can remember in a long, long time.

I was listening to an interview with Lebron at the all star game. They asked him what he did during the summer. He said he had a regular workout schedule that he went by, and that he played in a lot of pickup games. He said the pickup games are where you practice all the things you learn during the season, but aren't comfortable actually trying during a game. If JT works hard during the summer, there's no reason he can't come back and have a very good year. He really needs to work on his left hand and shoot that little mid-range jumper 500 times a day.

I have to disagree...i can remember several instances in which Jason got the and-1... He may not do it to much but who on the Kings does besides Kevin Martin...Plus I think the King of the "anti-1" is Brad Miller. That guy will give up no matter how easy the shot is after being fouled, its like he doesn't even try.

I would think he is untouchable. I honestly wouldn't trade him for any player in the NBA other than MVPs and such. If the draft was held today he would be picked higher, and that is a good thing. I can't wait to see how much he loves the game in future seasons and rest of this one.

I'm with you here, the only problem with JT atm and those "and-1's" is his power dribble doesn't give him the chance to go for it he usually gets stripped or fouled before he can get his shot going... Luckily it should be a pretty easy fix for him, just breaking the habit....

Interesting that this is the same things said about Yao Ming his first couple of years. Then he did exactly those things and got to his max potential but in about 4-5 years.

I totally and completely agree. People who simply judge a player by the stats are really missing the boat. It's good to see Jason's energy and hustle and refusal to quit.
