Jason Thompson First Career Start

His line from tonight was

F 40:40 15pts, 9 reb, 7-10 fg

I didn't get to watch or listen to the game .... how did he do? I'm excited/shocked about him playing 40 minutes. Kudos to Reggie. The box score also appears to show he might have been less than stellar on Prince.

Its a little too easy to lay all of Prince's pt's on Thompson. The truth is that a lot of the time Prince scored on someone else. The King's were playing a zone a lot of the time, and in a zone you guard an area and not necessarily a player.

There were a few times that he got caught in a switch and ended up guarding AI. I would say, that other than a foolish foul toward the end of the game, that was very untimely, he did pretty well for playing out of position.

eh, that said he defense was way less than stellar on Prince. Especially those two times he fouled him on a jump shot.

Thompson is rermarkably "steady" for such a young, rookie, player. I am always surprised when he makes a tough shot or does something really tricky and cool.

Aside form the competition level he faced in college, you have to remember that Jason isn't THAT young. 22 yr old rookies are a rarity nowadays, but I am old enough to remember when they were all that age, and rookies in those days would routinely step right in and start from Day 1, their games nearly complete. The extra maturity definitely helps.

Very true. Almost all the great players that we remember like Malone, Stockton etc. were four year players. There were exceptions though like Magic. However, because Thompson is a four year player, it should be expected of him to contribute right away.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes Greene to get on board.
