Jackson out for 3 months? Injury update...

I'm quite sure that Petrie, if he is going to bring someone new in, wants to bring in a veteran and not someone like Minard who is still green behind the ears, even though Maurice Evans should play a decent amount, I think that Petrie will probably consider bringing in another vet.
but y would we bring in another vet? y wouldn't he bring in a player who is experienced but not a veteran or a beginner. like an intermediate player?

Oh, one thing to ponder...at the end of this year, if we are able to re-sign Bobby, I figure it will be somewhere in the $7 million range, regardless of this injury...what are we going to do about Peja at the end of next year? If we give Bobby all this money, which he rightfully deserves, for 3 or 4 years(4 being the stickling point, I have a feeling he's going to want that 4th year and will probably have to fight the Kings for it), but if we give Bobby a big contract, that will just hinder us more from re-signing Peja at the end of next year. We're already capped out, and we know how the Maloofs are trying to cut corners to avoid a bigger luxury tax.

a veteran being someone with a decent NBA head on his shoulder and is not a kid. we need someone who will mesh. Buford went well with us, someone like him would be great. Bremer might be a good fit. But I do think that Evans will play considerably more, which can hopefully only be a good thing.

Christie's contract will come off the books that year to give us some breathing room.

But we'll have to see how that all goes. I've mentioned before if we fail again int he playoffs, I don't see this same core returning intact. Possibly even a full rebuild around youth, which would mean bye-bye Bobby. I've also mentioned that if one of the primary reasons we don't succeed is because Peja goes south on us in the playoffs again, I'm not sure I WANT him back. He'll be a max player when his contract comes up, and you can't have guy on your team earning max money who disappears int he playoffs. Virtually precludes ever winning that championship.

So not too worried about that stuff yet. Maloofs have only too obviously hit somewhere around their spending limit, but if Peja is worth keeping, hopefully he'll prove it this year and we'll find a way to keep him (assuming he wants to return). If not, we should trade him for somebody that is.

I'd love to get smith in here, Petrie would have himself another KU of a deal, just like he did with Jim Jackson...but we'd have to offer something for him, since he is already under contract.....here is a list of the free agent PG's and SG's out there still (of these I think that Bremer, Armstrong and Glover would be good to look at:

POINT GUARDS: Rod Strickland, Brandon Armstrong, Troy Bell, Omar Cook, Jay Williams, Cory Alexander, J.R. Bremer, Darrick Martin, Anthony Goldwire, Vonteego Cummings, Kareem Reid, Emanual Davis, Tito Maddox, Marcus Hattan.

SHOOTING GUARDS: Courtney Alexander, Eddie House, Ricky Minard, Felipe Lopez, Joe Forte, Dion Glover, Jeff Trapagnier, Desmon Farmer, Mitchell Butler, Maurice Carter, Kendall Gill, Derrick Dial, Carl English, Jeryl Sasser, Corey Benjamin, Matt Carroll

We never get a break :(
no just a shot knee, twisted ankle, foot problems, stomach problems, a sprain here or there; oh never mind we did have a break(Ostertag's hand)

Remember that Smith looked like a corpse until his revival this year. He might be as well as we could do, but I'm not holding my breath with him being great. Other thing is that Bobby is not only points, he's hustle, energy, spark. Smith isn't anymore. Old creaky vet and kind of the anti-Bobby on the hustle board. Fits our system in a lot of ways, but I don't think he can effectively run the point anymore (that's another thing -- we have no third PG, and no backup PG at all now other than Doug).

Of the other guys, House is off the market. And that's actually unfortunate now since we were talkng about him only last week as being duplicative of Bobby. Alexander is the only guy ont hat list who might be able to help with instant offense.

Eddie House, 6-1 little waterbug of a combo guard that has bounced around the league. Likes to shoot a lot of threes.

ok. that helps, but still really have no idea of who he is!! sorry.

gee, thnx for the great help. i guess i just nvr thought about that!!

Eddie House might work, but I'm a bit worried about him shooting himself crazy, not the greatest of shooters, I remember him when he was in Miami, but I guess thats what we already have here in Bobby, so it MIGHT be a good fit to bring him in.

Oops, scratch that idea...just read this:

Dec 19 The Bucks have signed guard Eddie House, after receiving an exemption from the NBA to have a fourth player on the injured list. House played 13 games with the expansion Bobcats this season, and averaged 11.1 points while shooting 41.4 percent from three-point range.

Without Bobby, our bench is a joke. Nothing against D-Song, Tag and Barns... But honestly our bench is probably the bottom five in the leauge now. I heard more than once a single injury will screw us all up given how thin our bench is. A nightmare comes true.

Rod Strickland, anyone? He fit pretty well with CWebb back in the Bullets days...
38 and pretty much done (and gee don't I feel old since I remember him since his rookie year battles for minutes with that other wild young'un Mark Jackson  ).

ok.. i'm kinda late for this thread..

i hope bobby feels better soon! i'd hate it that when i go to the nets game (feb 16) i'm gonna tell bobby the EXACT SAME THING ("get well soon bobby!")

god, please! take my wrist instead.. :( ;)

After 3 days of vacation this is what I get to come back to. This truly blows. I hope BJ's gets better soon though. One thing that is great about our team is that guys step up when we have a injuries, let's hope we continue that trend.
Never go on a vacation during the season again;)

I can't believe that this is really happening. Bobby seems to deal with a new injury every season, and KINGS just can't seem to get a break. I can just imagine how stressfull this must be for him, as well.
I do wish him a speedy recovery, but I also hope that we can quickly pick up someone - ANYONE, who can be at least half decent replacement for him....

*keeping fingers crossed*

First off it's his non shooting hand. Second he will be out probably until March which will give him about a month to get back into playoff shape. Third, at least we will "most definetly" know that his stomach is healed!!!

Anyway, I was looking at a list of Free Agents and Rod Strickland is available(he played with Adelman before), Anthony Goldwire, Omar Cook and a few other scrubs......not exactly an exciting list. Kings will get someone.

Seriously though. The Kings don't necessarily need to sign a "point guard" because more often than not the offense is run through the high post. Give me someone about 6'4" or 6'5" who can handle the ball a little bit and shoot(and defend) and I'll be happy. Wait, I just described Mo Evans!!!!!!

I think we are going to see some good play from this kid and I'm excited to see him play tonight.

I was listening to Grant at 6:30 last night get somber and say "I have some breaking news. every Kingsfan whos driving pull over because I have injury news. Bobby Jackson is out 3 months"
