Jerry Buss Leads Opposition To Kings' Move To Anaheim

A minority owner of the Los Angeles Lakers confirmed the team's lead owner, Jerry Buss, has been actively opposing a Kings' move. ​

"Dr. Buss has led the charge on this," said Tim Lieweke, president of AEG, the company that runs the Staples Center arena in Los Angeles. "We are on the same page as doc."
"I question whether or not this is the best move for the league. I am hoping they go look at other alternatives, including can they solve the problem in Sacramento."

The Clippers are actively against it too but Buss has far more pull with important players - AEG, ICON and Clay Bennett. Nobody really cares what Donald Sterling has to say.

I don't even have an opinion on Buss, he stays out of the limelight. How can you guys know so much about him? I absolutely hate rational people like you. Sometimes the assumptions tell you more about the assumer and not the subject. Kinda like a giant, real life Rorschach. Play a little game and see what you can tell about the assumer by what they say about something they know nothing factual about.

Naw. In the grand scheme of things, Buss is not an enemy. Buss is a rival. And there's a pretty big difference.

I never had an opinion one way or the other about him before all this. All I know is that he's helped to throw a giant wrench into the Magoof's plans and for that I am very grateful, even if his motives are obviously self serving.

He's not doing this out of the kindness of his heart, he wants to protect his TV deal and his market. He's a businessman, he's not being altruistic at all. I'm not saying that's wrong, but that's what is going on here, to say different would be profoundly naive.
