It Happened Again: Nelson and Player Confrontation

I live in SF so I do appreciate that while the Warriors are not very entertaining on the court, they are off it. ;). Anyone has an idea what Ellis referred to that he won't do?

As the players cooled down from a practice at the Reebok Sports Club and prepared for the bus ride to the London hotel, Ellis called Nelson over to the bench.

Sitting between Stephen Jackson and Acie Law, Ellis asked, "Coach, why do I get blamed for everything?"

Then, the coach and player had this heated dialogue:

Nelson: "What have I ever blamed you for?"

Ellis: "For everything. Everything. People not knowing their plays. I didn't do this. I didn't do that."

Nelson directed a two-handed wave off at Ellis and left the facility. The guard yelled "That's why I won't do it. I just won't do it."

Nelson's gone before the end of year. Nobody wants to be in Oakland anymore. Nelson, Jackson and Ellis are all burnt out of that place.

The person I feel really bad for is Steph Curry - he got drafted into a disintegrating team.

Why not name the player in the title?...
By doing that it implies that Nelsons the problem and not punks like Ellis or Jackson. Nelson has done more in this league anybody on that sorry *** team.

Certainly didn't mean to imply anything. But I think Nelson is partly to blame here. When your subordinate come to you and voice frustration, you don't wave your hands to dismiss him and then walk away. It is poor leadership. I don't know what the environment is like in GS but I thought Nelson is much better than that. Which is not to say that Ellis is not without blame.

I love Don Nelson but I think it's time for him to finally retire and move to his beloved island of Maui.

I was just reading Hoopsworld and it had a quote/blogish thing that stuck out...Yeah I know it's Hoopsworld.

How long can this go on in Golden State? We already know the Stephen Jackson saga is ongoing as they do their best to get him out of the Bay somehow, plus there are reports second-year forward Anthony Randolph is nearing a boiling point as well. Now Ellis? Actually, to be clear, the fact Ellis isn't happy isn't new news, but it seems like things may be coming to a head.

Does this mean that there's a chance we can get another big guy?

I totally agree with you..I really feel bad for Curry, I wonder what's going on in his head right now. He seems like a really nice/good guy and he's stuck over there...I think the Warriors could use Noc. Steph Curry and Randolph for Noc...lol :p

I think we need a poll on this - how long it's going to take before Nelly gets fired (if he gets fired)...It seems like everything is going wrong over there.

I would feel sorry to send any of our players there in a trade... Cept maybe Sean May or something who I feel no attachment to. Or KT I suppose but only for randolph.

If the Warriors are in so much turmoil, then why did they extend SJAX? Why did they offer a immature 6-3 SG a near max contract? Why would they hire Don nelson, and trade away their most valuable veterans, then extend Nelson. Chris Mullen wasn't this bad. Their first mistake was letting Baron Davis walk for nothing or for Corey, whichever one sounds more accurate. Their 2nd-5th mistake is locking up over 100million dollars in extensions and free-agents over the next 4 years. Ugly contracts, bad team, horrible chemistry, worst system in the world for talent evaluation = they can't get 50 cents on the dollar for their talent. I don't blame the rest of the NBA for letting the warriors reap what they sew. GM's and Owners aren't in the business of bailing out their competition, and here we are. It is sad, but Nelson has a track-record of getting an awesome contract and forcing the team to buy him out. Warriors = epic fail.

KT isn't a player you want to offer to another team. He is the kind of player you field offers from other teams. If you start to say "KT for X player" it automatically makes you look desperate to trade him, and that lowers his value. KT is a valuable piece. Right now, we are saying, "I like to save money, I'm keeping KT for that purpose" Other teams are looking to save money as well, and would be willing to make sacrifices to acquire KT. The Knicks would love to have another Expiring contract, Hornets too, Warriors OMG, CLIPPERS OMG, lakers....I think every team wants an expiring contract. KT is worth a crappy player and a mid 1st round pick, or a Nocioni type player and contract, or a high 1st round pick and a horrible player and horrible contract.
