Isaiah Thomas watch

And that points to a team with chemistry, vs one without.

Ok so IT was responsible for our lack of chemistry last year, bad offense and bad defense. Man, some impact that guy had!

DC is an upgrade from IT defensively. Duh. But it takes a full buy in with the team concept for us to be as good defensively as we have. And that's where we've been strong; we've had 7-8 guys who are all coming in and busting their butt on that end.

You're just being flat out ridiculous if you think we all of a sudden decided we're going to play defense this year because IT is off the team.

Yeah. That's why I never said any of that.

The bolded is mere speculation on your part. Collison signed here because we offered more money than anyone else, including the Clippers who had other plans with their money. In fact, Collison himself considered returning to the Clippers had the money been there. Unless you can show that there was some kind of promise that Collison would be the starter, without which Collison would have signed elsewhere, it remains a twisted interpretation of the progress of events.

Here are some facts that question your interpretation of the situation:

1) The Kings signed Darren Collison before Isaiah got his deal with the Suns.
2) After signing with the Suns, the Kings had the option to match and declined.
3) Isaiah is currently coming off the bench for the Suns.
4) Last season he was coming off the bench behind the utterly useless Vasquez

Isaiah wants to start and will compete for the starting job. But so far he's done nothing but played excellently off the bench. So if you wanted to start Collison, you could have started Collison and kept IT.

And even if you wanted to eventually let IT go, PDA could have kept him as a trade asset for later use. He didn't. He chose the trade exception. Thats not a "straw man". That is reality.

All wrong.

IT had his deal with the Suns before they signed DC. They both had to wait for signing period before any deal was done.

IT was signed and traded to the Suns, he never signed the offer sheet there was never anything to match.

Officially, yes. But offers are usually tendered and accepted before the signing period. We could have easily signed Collison and matched Isaiah's offer sheet with the Suns. Collison was signed on July 3rd, which was before Isaiah even met with the Suns

The tide may be turning but Dragic isn't playing well and some are calling for IT to start.

I have a feeling Phoenix may be popcorn city soon. Looking forward to Friday night.

Suns fans are generally just struggling to reconcile their dreams that getting into the playoffs in the west would be easy with the cold harsh reality that won't be the case.

But some people are starting to grow restless with IT's play:

Watching the Suns against the Lakers...it looks like the Suns offense is a really high pick and roll game with whichever PG and then once the PG turns the corner it's a drive to the hoop as those guards are quick....and then you get the kick out to the other players for a spot up 3 unless it IT who isn't going to dish. Lakers did a horrible job of defending.

I think we'll be able to keep up with their quickness. I'd really like to see either DC or Ray on IT. I think they're the two players who can keep up with him.

Reading this thread reminds me of the immortal words of Joshua:

"A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?"

It's starting in Suns land. It didn't take long. 5 whole games? Three distinct camps.

a) IT is awesome!

b) IT is hogging the ball. DMC was right!

c) IT is great, but we got to figure out how to reign him in as a team player, but still let him do what he does.

The problem in Phoenix is they have two other good PGs and it seems the best actual PG is the one suffering the most while he defers to Bledsoe and IT who may already be competing on the hero ball front.

I think reasonable people are in camp c, the question is, will it be possible?

That's some good reading. The same arguments, same defenses (oh yeah, how can IT be a ball hog when he leads the team in Assist %), just deja vu all over the place.

"Agreed. As well as IT is playing, it’s not being done within the framework of the team. He’s holding the ball, over dribbling and forcing a lot of one on one situations. It’s having an impact on Dragic role at this point. A lot of issues to clean up or eventually a trade may be necessary."

"They seem to be wary of each other and because of this they perform at a lower level because they feel like they’re competing within themselves. It’s not a healthy competition either. It’s clearly affecting each of their rhythms, especially Dragic’s. I feel like he’s lost because he sort of lost the role he thrived in last season. Hopefully the cogs find their flow and they stop backfiring on themselves soon, because if not it will ruin the whole engine."

The kings made Tyreke play off the ball to accommodate IT as well for those with longer memories. I kinda stopped watching at that point cause I just couldn't take it anymore. Now the suns are doing it to dragic. What a shame, cause Dragic was really good last year.

Well, seems like someone might get Dragic on a bargain contract (considering it was speculated he would get the Max) next summer. And he's an UFA.

it's too early to make any determinations, but it's certainly an interesting question; if a dragic/bledsoe/thomas rotation doesn't work, who goes? and how soon? does dragic re-up with phoenix if his role shrinks as a result of thomas' arrival? and, given that dragic is an unrestricted free agent next summer, does he get traded before phoenix risks losing him outright? or does bledsoe get traded to entice dragic into re-signing? perhaps this is all academic. perhaps phoenix will figure it out and feature the most deadly and dynamic guard rotation in the league, but it will definitely be a story to watch, regardless...

Dragic is the best of those 3 imo. He's the one that looks to pass the most while still being a great slasher and finisher around the rim and a very good outside shooter, also the most heady of the 3. Bledsoe is like a mini Lance Stephenson with slightly better outside shooting and we know what IT brings. Interesting that Dragic may end up being the odd man out if the 3 headed PG experiment doesn't pan, lets be patient though they did beat the Spurs and their losses came on a back to back against an improving Utah and one of the two best teams in the west atm in the Grizzlies(and the best defense in the league).

I think Dragic is the best PG on that team too. I'm just throwing ideas out there, but one has to question what goes on in Dragic's head. A new PG who's joined the team and has been taking a lot of shots. Maybe job security is a Q for Dragic? He's struggled so far in this season and it has a lot to do with Phoenix playing him off the ball.

Phoenix's problem is their 3guard lineup... I think they'll change it by the time the AS weekend comes by. You can't have 3PGs and 1 ball..

Maybe he's a tad disgruntled that the team signed another PG. I'd be unhappy.

Oh, I'm around. Just passing the time until the regular season starts. It's amusing to see all the "methinks ye protest too much" thank-God-Isaiah-Thomas-is-gone preseason crowd titillating each other. We'll see how the tale unfold during the regular season. Can't wait to see those perfectly fitted pieces fit together by PDA create a winning product on the floor.
Kings 5-1 now with Collison leading the pack and IT gone.

Phoenix is 3-3 with a few of the Sun's fans noticing what seems to be wrong with their current roster.

So true, if my memory serves me right.

Me too, the moment the Kings accommodated IT to have a bigger role I smelled disaster coming. And now it looks like the Suns are falling into the same situation. IT will mess-up their defense, ball movement, and freeze their main players once it starts and all is done.

Well, last night IT was mostly on the bench and Dragic had a breakout game.

Unrelated events I'm sure.

Terrific fourth quarter for Isaiah tonight. Scored 15 of his 23 points, main reason why the Suns upset the previously undefeated Warriors. One particularly fun play was when he stripped Curry clean one-on-one.

Great game for IT, though I'd say the "main reason" was that golden state was on the second night of a back to back missing Klay Thompson. :)
