Isaiah Thomas watch

IT is gonna try to absolutely destroy us. Hope it doesn't end up like that game vs Brooklyn after we traded thorton! You know damn well though that DC or sessions are gonna try really hard to not let that happen!

I'm going to take a slightly different approach here... I do think that Cousins was referring specifically to IT and not Thornton etc, because the question was specifically about the new PG play. However, I don't deem that as "calling out" IT. He was saying that the ball was moving better. It's analogous to saying the floor is more spaced when you acquire a good 3 point shooter. Everybody around the league makes similar statements about their teams.

Now for IT to respond to that however ...

So I’m assuming that Isaiah is adding this to his motivation against “haters/doubters” list.

I really don’t see why he needed to say something. Sometimes it’s ok to let things go or not respond. If he wants to use it as motivation, then that’s great. But sometimes it’s better to just let it go and I think this is one of those times.

Isaiah needs to learn how to take criticism and 1. not always let it affect him and 2. to take things that are valid and allow him to improve his game. I would like to see how much he grows with the Suns - I probably won't follow him but I like to see him mature as a person/player. And it will be interesting to see how long he’ll last with the Suns….Is he going to be the pick-up that they were looking for or will he start to focus on himself once he sees that he’s “not getting his?”

What Demarcus said was the truth, whether I.T likes it or not & whether it was aimed or slightly aimed at I.T or not. The lack of passing with everybody (especially for the PG spot) last year was horrible and completely frustrating. And I’m glad we’re moving away from that (hopefully).

He may very well want to destroy us. but that's his problem, isn't it? He concentrates too much on his stats at the expense of team ball. We may not be able to stop him but what about the other 8 or 9 players on the Suns?

This article with quotes makes the response by IT look ever more ridiculous.

The Kings want to push the ball up the floor quicker this season and cut down on the amount of dribbling. To climb out of the dungeon of passing doom (they were dead last in assists in the 2013-14 campaign) head coach Michael Malone is implementing some specific drills in training camp.

In some drills he is limiting his players to two dribbles per individual possession, sometimes even no dribbles. He has been running "4-on-4-on-4's," which is a continuous drill for getting all of the players on the court moving at one time. During these drills, Malone allows no dribbling to occur.

Really, less dribbling and improved ball movement might not just be a focus in training camp but the focus in training camp. I have my own thoughts on camp having more of a focus on offense rather than defense......., but as it relates to Cuz's comments, it makes perfect sense he commented on and has noticed this.

Agreed - that is what I was getting at in my previous post:

Once the season starts, I think the IT buzz will fade into the background where it belongs. If the team is working on playing five man offensive sets with crisp ball movement on the first week of training camp, that's a breath of fresh air. We should have been doing that all along, it just hasn't worked out with all the roster turnover, guys learning new roles, previous management trying to cut costs and juggle salaries, and so on. And that's not a jab at anybody. We all watched the Kings last season, the season before, the season before. Crisp ball movement and keeping everybody involved has been a recurring problem. There's no need to point fingers right now, just work hard and get better. It's a long season, there'll be plenty of time for finger pointing later. :)

it really doesn't matter alot of the times if a player takes however so many shots each game either. But just having the ball passed to him and know he is given an option to create or shoot and not feeling like jf he doesn't take this shot he won't get another chance for awhile....well that's just better basketball. Making every player feel like he's important and part of the team is a huge part of that.

I know it's two games but man the ball movement without IT is so nice, Sessions/DC are looking to attack and pass all day, love it I have no doubt we will be more competitive this year.

How will that make it different from any other season? I said last year Sessions was better than IT in general and I will stand by that.

I'm not an IT fan but I have no idea how you would think this. You could argue less negative impact if you believe that but Sessions is not better.

So, if we win more, Sessions is better? How exactly will we see that this year?
No we will see by how Sessions plays compared to how IT played that's all, we should win more games this year since we have a better Cousins and, Rudy from the start of the year.

It's not up for debate dude. IT is better than Collison individually and better than Sessions individually. But our PG position will likely be better this season because we get 48 MPG of good PG play instead of 34 like we got last season.

If it's not up for debate we would have kept Isaiah Thomas

IT is a better scorer. That's it. Jimmer fredette is better shooter than Doug Christie ever was. I'd take Doug all day. Point is better scorer doesn't mean better player

Again, not true, but it's fine. I've long accepted the bias against IT on this board. Let's move shall we!

My comment didn't resemble anything close to your response lol. I just said our PG position will probably be better this season because of better depth. What does that have to do with us keeping IT.
No it will be better cause we have one PG who can get the rim at will and laser beam passer through traffic and another who can gives his all on D and shares the ball, none of which (other than getting to the rim) Isaiah Thomas could do.

Hard to move on when you say things like that. What's not true? Jimmer better than Doug or that IT. Is a better scorer?

I'll be able to watch plenty of IT this year, be interested to see how he adapts playing next to two good guards.

The bias against IT? How about the realistic view of a player who was coddled by way too many too often on other boards and by the broadcast team?

IT was a better player than the guys we have now, but he was not a teamier player. A point that the front office and Cuz himself seem to largely be in agreement on.

On a more practical note, he was also alone. Greivez failed and was traded. Jimmer and McCcallum were unproven nothings. Thornton can't play for Malone. And McLemore was a disaster. This year we have replaced one IT pretty much singlehandedly being the backcourt with 3 guys: Collison/Sessions and Stauskas who collectively give us a lot more depth and solidity back there than we had at any point last year with or without IT.

I've liked Stauskas since summer league. He flat knows how to play. people think I hate on all Kings draft picks, but no, I just hate on the lousy ones, which all of them since Cousins have been. Nik though can play. And it took me no longer to see that in summer league than it took me to tell our last 3 picks were in trouble. This guy can play and contribute immediately. So we get 3 solid players in the backcourt where last year we had 1 and then a bunch of holes and question marks. IT or no IT that's why the backcourt situation looks to be better.
