Is it 82 or 86 games?

I'm constantly reading about 82 games in the season, but it's actually 86 listed in the schedule. They have added NO team and that's why the number increased. But why people in the media still refer to 82 games?

HUH?? I think it's still 82. Each team only plays some of the teams in their conference 3 times now.

That's what I don't understand. According to the schedule from kings.com (I've exported it to Excel) it's 86.

Thats what I was going to say... pre-season, but don't we play more than 4 pre-season games?? Now I'm confused...I'm like 99.9% sure it's still 82 though.

Excel screwed couple lines (when we had several players in scoring leaders or rebounds )

Denver (only 1 game at Pepsi Center), Memphis (1 game at the Pyramid), NO (1 game at Arco), Utah (1 game at Arco)
