Prospect
hey guys.
Im israeli fan of maccabi tel aviv.
and i can tell you that your team chose a great player.
Im sorry that i wont see him again in tel aviv, but im happy to see the first israeli player in the N.B.A
now im sacramento's fan too =]
Good Luck

Welcome to the board, Maccabi_Fan. I'm kind of excited the the Kings get the league distinction of having the first Israeli-born player that will play in the NBA. I hope Casspi flourishes here. :)

can you tell me if there is a chance that casspi will get minutes in sacramento's rotation ?

it is up to Omri if he will get minutes in the rotation.. if he works hard in the summer league i see him getting decent minutes around 15 mins or so.. if he is lucky we deal donte or nocioni to another team and he gets 25 or so minutes.

but it will all depend on Omri how his drive during training camp is..

but knowing the maloofs, business like IF the kings manage to strike a deal airing games in Israel or something i see casspi getting his minutes regardless of the performance.. i mean the kings got a whole new fanbase

we have like 4 different sport channels, and when there is a good game in the nba we can see it. we also have the espn channel.
and i think that now when we have a israeli player in the nba the sport channels will broadcast his games.
(i was sure that portland will choose him, because they took the 22th pick from dallas, and everyone here thought that the reason is omri casspi)

But we are happy in this situation :)

likewise im happy with omri being a king

I have a question to our Israeli friends ...
Is Omri Ashkenazi?
If yes, it would definitely make my Polish and Russian friends here in North America even happier. I've got like 8 calls already from them - the Kings now is pretty popular in Brooklyn :)

lol i think he does :)

always liked the name Maccabi Tel Aviv... rolls of the tongue :)

i dont want to step on the religion/race... i dont know how to put this.. ill just simplify it... something to do with playing on the sabbath... (working) is it forbidden for him or something?. dont get me wrong this isnt an attack, or a negative shot at him.. just wondering :(

look,casspi is a jew,but he isnt religious,this is what i know.
in maccabi there isnt practices or games,in sabbath

but you have to understand that the nba is casspi's big dream-to be the first israeli player in the nba,i dont think that he will give up because of religion-problems.

casspi is the first israeli player in the nba but not the first israeli player to play abroad.

you dont have somthing to worry about =]

im not saying hes going to give up... i was just wondering if that would affect him not playing games during the sabbath etc.. well this is basketball and not religion... im hoping casspi rocks the nba and stays a king...

Direct quote from Petrie regarding Casspi's minutes:
" On if Casspi is ready to play immediately:
“I think as a competitor and with his size, he’s a big, long, very athletic player who is a very tough player. He has a pretty good skill set. I think he can play some minutes, yes. How many we’ll have to see. I don’t like getting into talking about minutes because I’m not the guy who’s going to decide that.”"

casspi is not religious so games on shabat wont be a problem for him

I get the feeling that Omri is going to be raw as all get out.

But with everything I'm hearing about his toughness I'm pretty excited about the pick. I really cant wait until summer league!

im not sure his gonna be there.. he has the eurbusket with israel national team on september and the trainings are from now till september and then the eurobusket starts :-0 :D

So he is sorta like an American jew where as they are jewish but don't follow the rules per se.
70% of the jews in the whole world arnt religious....
anywayz casspi wont have any religious probloms while he will play at the Nba... only like at days like "Yom Cipor" and "The Holacaoust day" but the chance a game will be in hose days is realy low :P

Only being able to bench 185lbs. twice is a HUGE question mark from a guy who is being billed as one who is bringing toughness.

I am OK with Casspi, but I would have rather had Mullens. It was more of a need at this point than Casspi.

Oh he's as skinny and weak as most European prospects, but I think the toughness more refers to his aggressive attitude and willingness to throw his scrawniness into the fray. Obviously he's not going to scare anybody physically, but maybe he will not back down either.

yep thats it, we need a bit of that. Hawes has that streak in him and it wouldnt be a bad thing if other players found it
