If you were the Kings GM what trades would you make?

Bballkingsrock - The other part of the equation to making trade proposals is to actually propose something that would be acceptable or even possible for BOTH teams.

;)

Look, the only way I see it is that if the Kings really need a trade, they should only trade Bobby Jackson. The reasons:

1. He wants to be a starter and he knows if he gos to Sacramento and Bibby is on the team he will be on the bench.

2. He is in his final year of his contract so he might not sign with us anyway.

3. In the past few years he has become injury prone. I doubt the Kings would want that.

I have a feeling he won't sign with us this year because he wants to be a starter. There is a lot of teams that ould want him to be a starter. I think this is a good idea to trade Bobby. What do u guys think about this.

I'll fulfill the traditional NME role here, since that lout is off somewhere drunk in a bar rather than fulfilling his posting duties here: ;)

Bobby Jackson has a TEAM option on his contract for next year. meaning we can pick him up for another year if we want to. Sucks for Bobby. Good for us.

I would love to trade Peja for alot of role players... The Philly trade would be the best trade ever... The depth we would have... Insane...

He says faceitiously... ;)

And that of course is always the risk when you trade a star player. In fact you do NOT trade a superstar player as a rule, and get better. But a star? Maybe.

Trade is predicated on two things:
1) Peja is not a superstar. He only does the one thing at a star level. Is a star and the best at what he does, but he is not the straw that stirs, does not make others better etc.
2) Philly's young players are getting better. Two of them are already starters, one of them probably should be, and they are improving. In a few years, deal may not look lopsided at all if Korver is 16ppg, Igoudala is 12, 5, 4 and 2stls, and Dalembert is a 10 and 10 center with 2blks a night.

But obviously scary if they don't pan out.

Ok, heres my idea, its a 3 way trade. I was thinking that maybe a draft pick could be sent to Orlando. :

New York trades: SG Anfernee Hardaway (6.6 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.1 apg in 23.7 minutes)
SG Jamal Crawford (19.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 3.7 apg in 36.9 minutes)

New York receives: PF Chris Webber (21.0 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 5.2 apg in 35.7 minutes)

Orlando trades: C Kelvin Cato (7.7 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 0.9 apg in 27.6 minutes)
SF Hedo Turkoglu (13.1 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.2 apg in 25.8 minutes)

Orlando receives: SG Anfernee Hardaway (6.6 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.1 apg in 23.7 minutes)

Sacramento trades: PF Chris Webber (21.0 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 5.2 apg in 35.7 minutes)

Sacramento receives: SG Jamal Crawford (19.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 3.7 apg in 36.9 minutes)
C Kelvin Cato (7.7 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 0.9 apg in 27.6 minutes)
SF Hedo Turkoglu (13.1 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.2 apg in 25.8 minutes)

TRADE ACCEPTED (according to realgm trade checker)

I know New York has been interested in Webb & I just read an article about Penny wanting to return to Orlando to finish his career. I realize Crawford & Kato are hurt right now, but I think overall (with Turkoglu) our team gets better in the long run. I'm not a big fan of moving Webb since hes been playing so well (and I'm actually a Webber fan, not a hater), but his salary is such an albatross.

Why would we want to trade Webber and get inexchange Jamal Crawford, Hedo, and Cato? Jamal is a shooter also is hedo. We dont need shooters. Also it wont work because we need then a PF. We got Ostertag as a center, and we dont need another one. As for SG's we got wnough. Doug, Evans, and Barnes. They are also pretty decent shooters as well come to think of it.

Not to mention the fact that Orlando trades Cato and Turkolgu for Penny Hardaway???? I don't think they are that stupid.

So you think it's a good idea to move the ONE guy who's been playing at or above his own level pretty much all season???

A big salary isn't an albatross if the player EARNS it.

Just what would this deal do for the Kings?

As I said, I don't really want to trade webb when hes playing so well, but if you think about it, his salary will continue to hamper us for the next few years. I think Songaila and Miller could handle the PF position. And really, we could use a shooting guard who shoots. Also, Crawford & Turk are locked into long-term & reasonable deals while Christie has another year at around $8 million. I don't think you can compare DC, Barnes & Evans to Turk and Crawford- Doug doesn't take nearly enough shots & Barnes & Evans are pretty much scrubs.

Oh Crawford shoots all right. And shoots. And shoots. And...well, you get the idea.

Be one thing if he made them. But the guy has the I.Q. of a pineapple and just forces up utter garbage night after night after night.

You DON'T trade players who are doing well unless you can get something at least somewhat comparable in return. Hedo was already here, remember? Long-term reasonable deal for him? Only if you want to see the fanbase really erupt!

But whatever - it's your fantasy.

Question for VF21 and Bricklayer:

Guys, do you really believe that Pierce will accept to be second or third offensive option behind Webber and Biby? Regardless to any possible trade, in the next 5 years, the team’s performance will primarily depend on Webber’s health (knee) condition, unfortunately….

About Peja:

He is going to be traded, that is the fact. His intention is to spend next two years on any team on east and fill up a stats sheet. Then as free agent he will probably sign with LAL or SAS (due to close relationship with Greg Popovich).
Anyhow, his days in Sacramento are numbered.

Since it has not happened it is by definition an opinion, not a fact.
BTW, welcome starks.

Hey thanks for giving us some of that inside info. Now we have some facts to work on. Wonder how long it will take the Bee to report on this

1. I'm not a guy.

2. Pierce would love to play for the Kings, a CONTENDER.

3. You apparently have insider information or a crystal ball that enables you to see the future as far as Pedja is concerned. It may, indeed, come to pass but it's not gonna happen this year UNLESS Petrie makes it happen for the good of the Kings. It doesn't make any difference at all what Pedja's intentions are, as should have been clear this summer. He intended to force the Kings to trade him by his public announcement of his desire. Did it happen? Nope... Making a comment like yours is a safe way to straddle the fence. It doesn't mean a thing at this point in time. ;)

If Pierce came he would clearly be option 1a to an even greater extent than Peja is. Unlike Peja, he can get his own shot, and is also a superior passer when so moved so we could run offense through him the same way we run it through Doug now.

Peja's always in a delicate position because he does nto create his own shot ro shots for other guys. Hence he doesn't touch the ball much except to shoot, and it doesn't take much to go wrong with either his game, or other guys not passing, for him to get taken out of it. Much MUCH easier to keep a guy involved when you can jsut throw the ball to him 10 seconds into the clock and say "make something happen".

Sacramento trades: SG Doug Christie(7.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 5.1 apg in 32.4 minutes) C Greg Ostertag(1.7 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 0.6 apg in 10.4 minutes)

Sacramento receives: PF Donyell Marshall(10.9 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.3 apg in 25.1 minutes) C Alonzo Mourning(10.4 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 0.8 apg in 25.4 minutes) Change in team outlook: +12.1 ppg, +6.6 rpg, and -3.6 apg.

Toronto trades: PF Donyell Marshall(10.9 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.3 apg in 25.1 minutes) C Alonzo Mourning(10.4 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 0.8 apg in 25.4 minutes)

Toronto receives: SG Doug Christie(7.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 5.1 apg in 32.4 minutes) C Greg Ostertag(1.7 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 0.6 apg in 10.4 minutes)

And this one after that.

Sacramento trades: PG Bobby Jackson(11.9 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.3 apg in 21.7 minutes)
Sacramento receives: PG Marko Jaric(11.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 6.4 apg in 35.5 minutes) PG Rick Brunson(4.6 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 3.5 apg in 17.3 minutes) Change in team outlook: +3.7 ppg, +1.8 rpg, and +7.6 apg.

L.A. Clippers trades: PG Marko Jaric(11.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 6.4 apg in 35.5 minutes) PG Rick Brunson(4.6 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 3.5 apg in 17.3 minutes) L.A.

Clippers receives: PG Bobby Jackson(11.9 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.3 apg in 21.7 minutes) Change in team outlook: -3.7 ppg, -1.8 rpg, and -7.6 apg.

I think these trades would work out pretty good. First we probably have trade a pick to Toronto for it to balance out. But we would also recieve a pick from the Clippers for bobby Jackson trade. I would give us front court depth but we would lose a little bit of back court but Evan and Barns and Martin can fill for now. Our line up would be pretty good after this I think.

All I've seen thus far in this thread are horrible, horrible trades.

The ones that are even slightly attractive are unrealistic or impossible to match because of salary.

Alonzo Mourning is gonna quit very, VERY soon. Marshall is not what the Kings need.

AND the other trade is just nonsense. Marko Jaric does not have the athletism that Bobby has. Also I haven't even heard of Rick Brunson. Where are all these imanginary fantasy trades coming from!!!

You got half of that right. They are unrealistic and also unattractive, but unforunatly they match salary....;)

In fact, why would we want to do any of that?

I suspect you're trying to get Jaric on the Kings, but that trade ain't gonna do it.

;)

1) That was my trade idea to get Marshall as well. Would hate to lose Tag though, and Mourning's heart is in Miami.
2) But why oh why would the Clippers do that with Bobby hurt and the playoffs within reach?

P.S. I've made the argument before, and will again, that Donyell Marshall is perhaps THE single best fit in the entire NBA right now for what the Kings need off the bench. True combo 4/3 with three point shooting AND shotblocking AND rebounding. Peja's backup and a change of pace, as well as a mobile PF option who can guard people away from the hoop and block shots on the interior.

No, as a matter of fact, not all of the proposals have been run through realGM...

Why not? He's a forward who is perimeter-oriented on offense, but can also rebound and block shots on defense; that sounds like exactly the kind of player that the Kings need... or, at least, exactly the kind of player they're looking for...

EDIT - Bricklayer's edit stole my thunder...
