If you were the Kings GM what trades would you make?

SacTownKid

Hall of Famer
Just post some interesting, realisitic trade scenarios.

Here's one:

Sac trades:
Kevin Martin
Mike Bibby

New Orleans trades:
Baron Davis

Hornets would never go for it, but the salaries work.

I'm moving this to the Kings forum...

You might want to explain why you think that's a "realistic trade scenario" and WHY the Hornets would do it...as well, of course, as why the Kings would want to do it.

Just because something fits at realGM, it's not necessarily realistic.

I hate trade threads, but if you're going to start one at least address what would be accomplished by the trade and how it would help the Kings.

Actually, I could see why the Hornets WOULD go for that. Baron Davis is a terrific PG, but he simply can not stay healthy. Why on earth the Kings would go for it, given their already staggering propensity for injuries, is beyond me.

Peja and Doug Christie for Shawn Marion and Joe Johnson... I doubt they do it now, but I would have pulled the trigger over the summer...

I just meant realistic in terms of salary, not that any team would actually do it. Just interesting to see what could be possible.

I am sorry you hate these threads but you have the right to your opinion. No games until friday and I thought this could be interesting to see what people come up with.

In my thread I didn't say it was neccessary to provide an explanation, but those who wish to do so can.

salaries match. Statisically speaking they are basically the same player. I am not counting any defense or anything. Really never watched Baron play.

My own opinion is I don't think this trade would make us a championship contender. The problems that they are working on now would still exist and a new player would have to learn the system.

Just my opinion again but for now I think we stick with this group, give them another shot at trying to get a title or make it deep in the playoffs. If it doesn't work out then start looking at other options.

I am not ready to give up on this group yet after a stretch of bad games.

Let me say this first, I for one am NOT saying they should do any trades. Also, I am not saying you nor I are giving up on the current squad by posting trade scenarios.

THIS IS JUST FOR FUN!!

Here is a Bobby for Marko Jaric and a conditional pick. This might be a possiblity if the Clippers were not going to resign Marko this off season and that they needed a person to fill in for cheap at PG for another couple of years until Saun Livingston is ready. I think if this was offered at trading deadline I think Petrie would bite. But it would also depends on how the team is playing at time.

I posted this in another thread. This is a realistic trade in my opinion. It would provide a person who could fit in as a PG SG and SF which would solve some problems in depth since he can cover the three named positions. He would bring defensive ability and also handling ,playmaking and intensitity.

Sac trades:
Bobby Jackson

for

GSW:
Mickael Pietrus
Calbert Cheaney

Cheany is pretty solid when I have seen him play this season, good solid backup for Peja. Plus I threw in Pietrus b/c he has been mentioned around here before. Warriors probably wouldn't do it though. Fisher and Claxton playing well, plus Bobbys' hurt.

WAKE UP CALL: Hello? You just want people to list possible trades without any discussion of why they might be logical? This is a message board where we DISCUSS things.

If you just want to see what trades are available, you could go to realGM and play to your heart's content.

You can't analyze the trade, BigWaxer, or make any comments about the relative merit of any proposal. You apparently are supposed to just throw out some names without any reason, etc.

KingsFans.com trade:
SacTownKid

bleachermob.com trades:
Jodystone6467

It appears the salaries are identical.

;)

Throw in some future second round posters and you got a deal. Maybe some cash considerations as well.
SacTownKid, brush up on your link posting moves, and your emoticons, lot's of them.

if he were healthy, what about peja for james posey?

posey plays good D, would help us in the lack of athletism department, is a much improved shooter ( player for that matter) he's young, i think the salaries are close. i just don't know if memphis would go for it.

i still like the artest idea, but i think we could get him for less then peja. the word i've been hearing in various articles ( though they are just rumors, so they are taken with a grain of salt :D) is that the pacers will do anything to get rid of him, so i bet *if* the kings wanted to trade for him, they could get him for less then peja. any more with artest would also have to include a GOOD therapist to make it worth while. i love the NBA talent, not the brain.

and as for the bibby for davis idea OH GAWD NO!!! that guy can't stay healthy, and never shoots a good %. i vote NO on that one.

I'd personally do this one.

Boston receives:
Peja Stojakovic
Greg Ostertag

Sacramento receives:
Paul Pierce

Lord knows if Boston would agree to this deal or not, but I'd like to see Peja get his wish and be shipped out of Sacramento. I really don't want a player here that doesn't want to be here.

People say Peja hasn't said anything more about his trade demand, but he also hasn't rescinded it. Peja is a class act, that much is obvious, and talking about something like a trade demand during the season is a distraction and usually doesn't help the team.

I think come again this offseason, Peja will be right back asking for a trade. I say give him his wish and give us someone great in return for him. Pierce is a well-known playoff performer who's just a very gifted player.

The problem would be convincing Boston to part with him for Peja. :P

Not that Pierce is the answer to all of our problems, but I think he'd be a VERY happy guy to play for a winning franchise on a team loaded with talent where he'll get plenty of chances to show what he's capable of.

Please not TAG! We need his boards and blocks.

As far as the other part, I'd pull the trigger in a heartbeat.

Well, the fact that you put O-Tag in there screws that trade up, no one in the NBA wants him, IMO. Oh well, they could always release him after the trade.

Ostertag has a two year deal and is a producing NBA center. I think you underrate his value. Even if Ostertag sucks in the eyes of the other GM, his contract is quite reasonable as it expires after next season.

VF21: If you don't like Ostertag in that deal, who else would you rather give up? Because basically he's the only member of the Kings that as a salary that we would need to include with Peja to get a max-level player like Pierce. The only other option on the team is Bobby Jackson, and I sure hope you wouldn't want to include him.

Besides, it's not like Ostertag is a key part of Adelman's rotation right now. With Miller, Webber and Songaila getting the bulk of the minutes, Ostertag only comes in in special situations/games.

Bobby and Pedja - right now today? - for Paul Pierce? Get er dun!!!!!

I think BJax's salary is a little too low to make the deal work. But I could be wrong. Ostertag actually makes more money than BJax and Pierce makes about 12 million.

I'd personally like to keep Bobby J. Injuries are becoming an obvious concern, but he's still played as hard as anyone ever has for this team, and I'd like to keep him around if possible. I'd like to reward that if it makes sense to do so.
