Don't Make Me Use The Bat
I am hereby bending some board rules, but have an excuse.

Earlier this summer we held an All Time Kings Draft, where 12 players drafted up complete rosters made up of nothing but Kings from the Sacramento era. Given the overall success of the franchise over its time in Sacramento, not surprisingly the rosters had to be a bit...inventive. When the draft was complete, for various reasons the expected playoffs etc. involving the teams did not happen. That's on me. Now I get to make up for it.

As we get warmed up for a new Kings season, I thought for amusement purposes, to maybe give people a little history of the Kings (and also of course serving the purposes of restarting the All Time Kings Draft) I would post each of the teams that were put together here in the main Kings forum (my excuse: these are teams composed of Sacramento Kings players after all, not cars, or comic book heroes or hot babes) and pose this question: if we were about to head into training camp and THESE were your Kings this season, how many games do you think they would be able to win?

20-24, mostly on the basis that there is no clear leader (sorry Peja) and therefore a lack of team unity. I see this team degenerating into an "every man for his statistical self" effort starting at about game 20, after an 8 game losing streak and the dull, burning realization that there will be no playoffs, there will be no new arena, and the Los Angeles area state Representatives filibuster any legislation to get public funding or government involvement/co-operation at all to get one.

Kenny Thomas makes a strong push for sixth man of the year award, however, and Jim Les wins the 3 point shootout at All Star Weekend, giving the Kings their only glory of the season, but showing up his own teammate Peja Stojakavic, who then pouts for the rest of the season, and "gets back" at him by going **** ball crazy hoisting up an average of 12 threes a game for the rest of the season, to the detriment of the flow of the offense and again, team unity, to which Rex Hughes has no answer or response.

I gave this team 25 to 29 wins. The team is a little more well balanced than the first team and it definitely has more NBA starting talent. However I don't think the peices fit to together very well. There are a lot of self-impressed ego's on the team, and I think the word "Team" would be lost on a lot the them. I could see this team self emploding halfway through the season, Petrie resigning in despair, and Polynice arresting Frank for impersonating a head coach, while impersonating a police officer.

This one's tough. I see a lot of nice pieces, but I don't really see the chemistry, or how the offense would work. I'm thinking a bit under 30, but with the bump up I'll go 30-34.

Oops, my bad. I voted on what I thought would be this years team. I would like to change my vote to 24-29 wins.

I put 15-19 wins. I like some of the talent, but just feel like this team would get pushed around all season long. They might be able to put up some points, but wouldn't be able to stop anyone on the other end.

Alright, glad these were found amusing. Been 24 hours so am closing up these polls and putting up the next trio of , er, candidates.
