Ideas for selling Kings tickets

USNAVY15

G-League
This thread and the Arena deal go hand and hand. The 1st and last point that the sacramento city council made against the new arena was, "if you can't sell out arco......". This attendance issue means that we are further from a new arena than ever. Funding the arena is a entirely separate topic. Attendance is low, and it is because tickets aren't being exchanged for money in hand-to-hand transactions. If i were on the tickets selling team, i would suggest each member has 20 tickets in their pockets at all times, selling them at various casinos, restaurants, Mall kiosks, even on the street. Make a deal with the retail business and create a permanent source of ticket availability. People don't want to go online to buy tickets, they don't want to go to arco to buy tickets. They want the tickets brought to them, so they can smell them under their noses and make the impulse buy. I would tell the ticket people to specifically head to bars and casinos and talk to the manager about making an announcement that tickets can be had at fair or reduced prices. it would make 1000+bucks a day.

You make some good points. You should send them to the Kings@ArcoArena.com as suggestions. At this point, I'm thinking they're willing to listen to and consider a lot of different ideas. It's going to take innovation to get the people coming back. Once they come back, I'm confident it won't be a one-time thing.

I think a Kings kiosk/store where you could buy not only merchandise, but tickets as well would be a HUGE upgrade for Westfield's and their dilapadated(their doing)Downtown Plaza. Hey, there's like 60% vacancy rate there, the Maloofs should see if they cant spur relations with the city of Sacramento and the Downtown area and look into doing something like that!:)

edit: and you could have player/coach autograph sessions as well. And you know what...something like that would be something to smile about for our community as we are struggling to get a new arena built.

Put a couple of kiosks in the major malls for the holiday season. Grab a couple of big HD-TVs and show some clips of recent games. Have dance team members selling game tickets and give a free picture of the dancer (or player) of your choice. It could work!!!

:)

EDIT: I've split this off into its own thread. As loyal Kings fans, I think we can brainstorm and come up with a few ideas that just might help Maloof Sports and Entertainment get Arco sold out again.

They could do something like enter everyone's name who buys at least 2 upper deck seats into a contest to win 4 lower deck seats later in the year. Probably wouldn't cost them much to do that a couple times a year or once a month.

They should make it easier to buy tickets by not charging a stupid "convenience fee" when you buy tickets online or by telephone. and they could also lower or eliminate the parking fee. It's a bad economy, I'm not paying for something that I don't feel like I'm getting my money's worth. and these extra fees like convenience fee makes me feel ripped off.

How about every purchase one makes at the "kiosk" includes a raffle ticket. This raffle ticket is.........."the half court shot!!!!!"...... But, you have to buy the ticket to go to your game. You can purchase as many raffle tickets as you wish as long as the purchase made is 20$ or more.

My husbands boss just gave us his section 122 row f seats (vs the Heat) as part of xmas cheer (lol) pkg...For what they list as cost...I could not swing even if it wasn't xmas time. However...it's all about the atmosphere so even the upper seats would suit me

It takes a villiage......

Welcome!:) Glad to hear you got such great seats! A win over Dwyane and the Heat will only help sell more tix for future games and keep the buzz growing...have fun!

I think we should get the media involved in our brainstorming as well to make SURE the Maloofs get our ideas for consideration, I think that would show them that us Kings fans are willing to do whatever we can to help. Ideas on this?

Make Amick aware. Dude is pretty active on the net.

I have no twitter account, and I don't want to set one up. Somebody else will have to notify this way.

Oh yeah, Carmichael Dave pokes around here as well. You can find him in the members list (I'll get that one).

I will post this link to a friend who is a VP at MS&E.

Edit: Message has been sent to my friend with a link to this thread, so get your ideas posted here.

I like the idea that Warhawk started. I just hate the way they give out courtside seats (or any prize, for that matter). I'll never understand how they pick the people they bring down to the court or give prizes to.

Find a way to put names in to have a chance at prizes. You buy 2 seats and we give you a 4 pack in the lower level to a future game, or a pair of tickets to sit courtside, (or at least in a Kings Row).

There have got to be ways to make the "average Joe/Jane" feel like they could win something by coming to games. I don't feel that way now. I can't always jump up and scream, and I got hurt once when some big dude slammed me against the seats to catch something that had dropped at my feet.

I like the idea of selling tickets in other places, but is their some agreement with ticketmaster that could keep them from doing this?

I HATE those sorry convenience fees also. Lets face it, the internet is simply a way of life now. It is cheaper for them to sell tickets online, it saves them money, yet they screw us on fees.

Buying 40 dollar tickets and actually paying 40 bucks might help sell more tix.

I love the idea of selling at the mall.

Things are tight for many people right now. They way of doing business in the past is not going to get it done. These are desperate times and it calls for some creative ideas to get people's butts back in the seats.

By the way, just got my tix for the Dallas game, and since the Sixers signed Iverson, I will be taking my college daughter, who will be home on break to that game as well.

Lets say they slash prices by 25% across the board for a few games just to see what happens. Isnt selling 6k more seats, even at discounted prices better than selling what they are now? That is 6k more people buying crap in the snack bar... beer, soda, parking, and more importantly, the support and home court advantage back in Arco.

Bottom line is this; as the team continues to play well, the people will start to come out.

We don't need the Bee to get our message to MSE. Honestly...

:)

As far as Carmichael Dave goes, he's well-known to several of us here at KF.

Keep the ideas coming, folks. Let's see if we here at Kingsfans.com can help make things better instead of just pointing out why they're bad. (Such as the recent piece in the Bee...) Solutions, not more problems. That's what we ... and the Kings ... need.

:D

I thought we were simply getting these out to the media. I read:

and ran with that idea immediately without reading further to understand his / her intent.

Another idea:

Get some of the guys from THE TEAM to do TV promos to run on the local stations with comments about how this is a young and exciting Kings team and fans need to support it like they did THE TEAM. Maybe even invite Webber or Christie (Vlade is probably overseas) to attend a game as the guest of the Maloofs. People turn up for those guys. Maybe they could find some way to tie Tyreke #13 to Christie #13? Just brainstorming...let them figure out the details.

;)

I wonder about the incentive / pay structure offered to the Kings's sales staff. How much of their salary is tied into their performance? I believe that salespersons perform best when they are given a competitive base salary (say $10-14 per hour, depending upon the nature of their sales strategy: telephone, door to door, etc...), and the incentives tied into their performance are not strictly monetary. Such things as extra time off, tickets for them and their families to concerts and sporting events, trips to Vegas, congratulatory office parties, have all been used to increase productivity. This is just a very small sample of the possibilities.

I have another idea: Instead of offering discounted tickets, announce that a portion of ticket sales will go towards a popular charity or providing less fortunate people with gifts for the holidays, or food.

Some of these ideas have real merit. Whether they are workable...who knows? I got a thank you from MS&E for sending a link to this thread. Keep up the brainstorming......whatever occurs to you. Let them decide if your idea is workable. Thanks for participating.

WE LOVE OUR KINGS!!

I also was trying to think of a way to tie it in to the unfortunate, but couldn't come up with anything except what you did.

They might also offer a coupon or something for concession items if people bring canned food or other non-perishables to be donated to the food banks before Christmas.

Great idea...and then the Maloofs would at least put some more butts in the seats and make some parking/concession $$$ that wouldnt be there.

I'm here. Been reading. For the one of you that listens to my show, we've had a couple of on-air brainstorming sessions with fellow fans, and between that and here there are some really good ideas.

Honestly, with the dollar beer night, 99 dollar complete family 4 pack (with 30 dollar food voucher included), and releasing tickets to the Cavs game, I really, REALLY think they are making an effort.

In my conversations with a "guy who knows things" in the front office, he gave me a couple of things to keep in mind when coming up with ideas:

1. They (Kings) LOVE it. Any and all ideas are appreciated and discussed

2. Make sure you keep the season ticket holders in mind. No matter what, they bought and paid for their tix fair and square. Something like "Dollar Beer Night" benefits all parties, but having everyone move down to the lower level if seats are available could upset some people that paid top dollar for their seats. Its a slippery slope, but one I totally understand.

3. Creativity is king. This is a unique opportunity where the fans like us really CAN make a difference. They are already processing some of the ideas I submitted off my show, and there are some people out there that are going to say "Hey, that was my idea, cool". So believe me, these arent falling on deaf ears.

It looks like 6th already did the work on getting this to MS&E, but it can't hurt to double it. I've bullet pointed some of the ideas in this thread, and sent an email off.

How about a free voucher to the Kings store worth maybe something like 25% of the ticket price (or they use a punch on your ticket when you buy something instead of separate "vouchers")? So for a $40 you get $10 in the store (or in food, or whatever).

One thing I would stress is getting freebies thrown/distributed to the upper deck as well! Always seems like the lower deck gets all the goods and the upper deck is left out (especially since those pretty cheerleaders don't have the arm strength to throw things very far :p ). Of course, I see the other side of this one, too - encouragement/reward for those that do buy lower-level seats.

What about instead of just anybody moving down or whatever, if they just set aside a few seats down in the lower bowl and made it a nightly promotion -- have a nightly drawing of some sort amongst the upper deck tickets and whoever won would get to sit down in the set aside lower deck seats for the night. Alternately instead of a drawing could have Slamson or members of the dance team go up there and make a production of it just before the game or during an early timeout or some such, pick a group to be the ones to come on down (would also avoid moving Lakers fans etc. on down that way).

Could work for the same reason people buy lottery tickets. Even if the chance is small, could get peole buying cheap tickets on the chance that maybe they get to move down to ringside seats that night.
