I need to put a new middle name on RA

funsc

Bench
Rick D. Aldeman

Being an NBA coach, he needs to get this team to focus more on defense. Yeah, Kings is one of the best offensive teams and nobody could beat us if we find our rhythm, but we can't guarantee 100% on offense, especially in the last few minutes; thus, we definitely need another weapon to make our opponents hardly score on the other end.

Defense wins Championship--------playoff rule.

Hope you enjoy your new Eddie House/Greg Ostertag PG/C combo. We don't have the depth to be benching starters for lack of defense. We have some of the best starters in the league, and some of the least experienced benchers. We aren't going to bench 70 million dollar near All-Stars for scrubs, defense or no defense.

Rick "Giddy With Excitement" Adelman

Richard G.W.E. Adelman. How's that for a nick-name? It sounds like and English author or a WWII Admiral.

Then what's the difference,,,you pay 70 million for no defense or 8 million for no defense..
about 62 million, or better yet start thinking about bringing in 70 million dollar people who can play D and O....

Good luck!! Who would trade them?! The majority of the guys who can play both well, only choose to play defense in the latter stages of the game (i.e. Kobe).

Once again, I'm bemused by the apparent assumption that no defense is Adelman's fault.

We are NOT a defensive juggernaut. We haven't been built that way. BUT we do have players who know how to play defense, they just don't do it on a regular basis. I'm not sure why - perhaps it's just not as much fun especially when they're primarily focused on scoring. That isn't Adelman's fault, as much as a mindset of each of the players. They have to get it into their heads to play defense - to rebound, to contend shots, etc. They CAN do it. Maybe not as well as some of the Eastern teams, but they CAN do it.

BTW, did anyone notice how BALANCED our offense was against the Mavericks? We had five players with 4 assists each, and a couple more with three. That is GOOD ball movement.

Although we didn't walk away with the W, I think there were indications of more good stuff to come.

If Adelman is to have a middle name, I vote for GWE.

:D

VF21, we know RA preaches D to his team, but preaching sometimes doesn't get it done.
Defense is mostly mental and I know alot of people think u need atheletic players to do this and that's not true. Look at Larry Bird, Kevin Mchale, Moses Malone etc... These players were mentally tough to play D and blockout for rebounds. What if RA ran a practice were no one shot the ball but coaches and made everyone crash the boards all day long. I think that would be a good start..

Tried to teach my cat to fetch, she got half way there would chase the balls down unmercefully, just could never learn to bring theball back.... guess I faild.

How do you know what happens or doesn't happen in practice?

Sorry, but I'm not buying that all Adelman does is preach. I've been around this sport long enough to know that just you can't judge ANY coach solely by what YOU see. I happen to have a lot of faith in Adelman and the rest of the coaching staff. They're not dummies. I find it beyond comprehension that some fan here on a message board (and I'm speaking in general terms now and not about any specific post or poster) is likely to come up with something one of them hasn't already thought about, tried, etc.

This isn't a hobby for them. It's their life's work. You really think they're just sitting there without a clue on what the Kings need to do to improve?

Sorry, but sniping at Adelman over things like defense is just naive IMHO. I think he, Carril, ET, etc. already know it.

Coach Carill said before the last game that they hadn't had more than 9 guys for a practice since dec 27, and they haven't had a 5 on 5 practice with the starters in even longer.

Not that I'm bashing RA, It's just makes you wonder what a coach like Pat Riley would do in the Defensive coaching scheme vs RA. I mean if they tried everything and I'm sure they have then what they have is a failure to communicate..

We can discuss this forever, but only the King's Players can make the Difference

Sorry. It doesn't make me wonder what Pat Riley would do. It might make you wonder, but I fail to see how Riley could have taken this team any further than Adelman has.

We will simply have to agree to disagree.
