I miss Casspi

he was such a likable guy. Very easy to root for. I felt at the time like they were giving up on him too soon (and in hindsight, I wonder if Westphal had something to do with it) and so far J.J. Hickson, while he's been fairly solid, isn't really looking like that much of an upgrade to me. Plus I think Casspi would fit in better on this current team than Salmons. Nothing against Salmons, I just don't see how he's what they needed at SF.

Omri hasn't really been doing much for the Cavs either and Salmons, while susceptible to tunnel visionitis, is a much, much, much better defender than Casspi.

Add in the fact that Omri actually DID make thinly-veiled (to put it lightly) trade requests a couple of times in his stint here and it was pretty obvious that he was going to have to go.

Yes but those "trade requests" also seemed to stem mostly from his relationship with Westphal, just like DMC. Casspi was unhappy with constantly being benched, then starting, then benched, etc. and who can blame him. Like most players, he just wanted some consistency and to know what his role was. I can't help but feel like Casspi was the type of player who could have flourished under a more stable coach like Adleman.

To be fair, by the last half of last season, he did have a role: bench-warmer.

He is simply horrible.

Untill he can't figure out how to put the ball on the floor for more then 1 dribble without loosing it, he will always be that bench warmer and 7th-8th man off the bench in any team that is not a bottom feeder.

That's all fine and dandy but it doesn't really refute my point, as Hickson is also a bench caliber player at this point and they gave up Casspi AND a pick to get him. Might as well just have let Casspi play out his rookie contract and hope he improved. If I thought Hickson was in the team's long term plans, it would be different, but it just feels like another one of those lateral moves that i'm frankly sick of.

I apologize, I just talked about him without context.

The pick makes you right I guess, as Hickson to our team never seemed like anything other then a stop gap.. not like we're gonna commit to him next year - better chance of us offering JT a contract then him.

Although again with Westfail at helm keeping Casspi was not an realistic option too, so he had to be moved. wouldve liked it if we gave him up for something less, and kept our pick.

I agree. And I am glad we got rid of him. IMO, the guy is simply not NBA material. Oh well, he is NBA material as a bench warmer.
