They wouldn't care though. People with that negative hater mentality generally aren't very capable of showing empathy. It doesn't effect them and they can't relate to it, so they don't care.
Not everyone that reads the Bee is of the same mindset as those biased idiots that post there. There are people out there that just don't pay attention, and they're not informed. How the hell do you think some of these idiots get elected.

OK, so you'll still root for them and you're a Sacramento native. Good for you. But why do you have to be a condescending punk about it and degrade us fans who will no longer root for them as not being "real" fans? What, do you want a medal for being a model fan for something? Your self congratulatory arrogance and need to put down other fans suggests that you are the one who needs to get over yourself, my friend.
Rookie, I read his post and not for a second did I get the same take you did. Whats the old saying, if the shoe fits. I don't think he intended in any way to point the finger at anyone, and by mentioning that he would still follow the team even though there are other fans that couldn't, wasn't said in a way as to impune those fans. And if you took it that way, maybe you should look inside and figure out why.

But I'll tell you what offends me. You took a beautiful thread started by a friend of mine and threw sour grapes on it. Everything in this world, and particularly on this fourm, isn't about you. Instead of picking a fight with someone that wasn't looking for a fight, why don't you instead give us your feelings on the Kings, and what they mean to you.

Give me a break. Spin it any way you like, there was no reason for them to put fans in quotes if it wasn’t meant to imply that they weren’t real fans. I certainly wasn’t the only one who read it that way.

If you actually read the exchange, you’ll see that I didn’t pick a fight. I just responded to what was in my opinion a slight on fans who will no longer support the team if they move. I wasn’t rude or confrontational about it, I just spoke my mind. The other poster then responded with name calling and posturing. It’s all right there...if you read it.

Come on bajaden...you're one of my favorite posters on this board. Clearly you have to see the way he said "fan" to call out people who won't be supporting the team when it moves. That was unneeded in a thread like this...and it seriously made me sick to my stomach.

Thanks for adding some much needed reason. I'm honestly sorry I mentioned now. I was just trying to dispel the notion that we who won't root for them after they leave are somehow lesser fans. If I'd known folks were going to take it as provocation on my part rather than the simple statement that it was, I wouldn't even have bothered.

^^^Exactly what I was thinking. That was the Mona Lisa of KF posts by one of the (if not the) best writers here. Well done VF21, and I feel the same way, though admittedly, I have had a much shorter amount of time with the team thenthe fans here that I have come to respect so much (you know who you are). I don't consider anyone to be less of a fan for not following the team should they leave, after all I am sure for many it's an issue of souring on the NBA itself.

My best friend, and pretty much the reason I get into basketball as a little boy, talked about them going to Anaheim the whole car ride to the arena. He was fuming, saying how it makes no sense to move the franchise when there is most likely going to be a lockout. He vented frustrations about the Maloofs not spending on quality players for a better part of a decade. In the end, he said he would not support this franchise should it move to Anaheim.

He would have no ties to the team, but I think there is more at play. He, like many of us here just get sick to their stomach thinking about them leaving. And being a real basketball purist, I know for a fact he has soured on the NBA. Is it the same league where the Sacramento Kings exlenpified team basketball? Maybe not, but personally, I will support the team until that Armageddon sized asteroid comes hurtling toward us, and we launch Marcus Thornton at it in an effort to break it and half and miss my beloved team (and planet too I guess).

No fan is greater then another, and everyone has their own opinion, but as Baja has pointed out, let's not forget the true purpose ofthis thread. I don't want to say goodbye to my team either, I want my toddler son, and his children after him to take part in the same amazing experience as VladeFan and his family has. I want to grow old and grey and move to Mexico and be the authority on the fresh crop of college players. I want to convert my fiancé to Purpleism, and I want to grade players and do themes on my teams forum after games. It is so easy to dream, and so hard to except loss.

But I am glad to have my team, our team at present, and thankful I have all of you to talk to about it. Man I feel better, and despite the loss, last night was the best birthday ever. Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to eat a fat piece of cake and watch some Golden Years basketball on the DVR.

Lord. Not for one second was I personally attacking you nor was I trying to be holier than thou. And and now this amazing post by VF has been completely derailed and turned into something it should never have been. I am sorry if you took high offense to what I said.

So your putting fans in quotes was completely random and meaningless, then?

I really enjoyed reading your post, VF. I appreciate this small peek at you, your family and your love of the Sacramento Kings which I share.

I, too, have been a fan since the beginning. My original partner and I went out to the arena before a single practice had been held in Sacramento. We checked out the seat location displays and picked our two seats and bought our first season tickets. Been buying them ever since but only half as many games these last two season. I'm on my second set of partners. Always prided myself that these tickets were for me and my friends, not for a business deduction or sale.

As a contributor to this board I trail your number of posts by about 66,374 give or take a few. I never saw this board until the summer of 2009 and joined that November. That's when I was introduced to you, VF21, and our other leaders and regulars. This new acquaintance was a joy for me. Often turned off by it but more often enjoyed it and was tempted in.

I have always loved the game. Let's see, 20 games a season times 26 seasons equals about 520 games that I have seen at Arco Arena. And like you I enjoyed the good ones and the bad ones, you had to because there were lots of early years where we didn't win that many. All good, and, now, good night to you all, I'm sleepy.

"I unlike some "fans", I will still root for this team no matter where they go and no matter how hard it may be."

It's comical that they'd deny that was a holier than though statement, isn't it? Even more puzzling is that some folks claim not to have read it that way and instead saw my reply as the inflammatory one. Sometimes you just have to wonder where people's minds are at, lol.

My brother and I are both southern california kings fans which isn't always easy. We rarely get to see games at Arco and watch most of the games over league pass. When we heard they were likely to move down here, instead of being excited to be able to see our favorite team live, we're bummed that the team we grew up watching, going to games with our dad, attending draft parties and all of the other pains/joys that come with our unique fan experience was ending.

Whether you continue to follow the team after they leave or not, this is painful. Some people won't be able to separate what was from what is. And some people will bleed purple even when it isn't logical to do so. I'm tired of fighting over what should have been done and whether one opinion or another is the right one. What's going to happen is going to happen. We belong to this site for one common reason, the Kings. Let's try to remember that and treat each other civilly as this painful process unfolds.

I'd miss Jerry but I could do without Grant. Who knows if they'd go with the team anyway though. If they move, they may just start off with a "clean slate". New coach, new GM, new announcers. It wouldn't surprise me.
