How good is this team?

I know we have been scorchin hott lately. The 4-1 road trip really started it and these past couple home games have been great. 13 game winning streak at home, by an average of what 15 pts.

But I really think that the real potential of this team will be determined on this road trip. If they can come out successful in this road trip, then I could see them doing some damage in the playoffs. I just feel that people are too quick to label this team after one streak. This road trip will really test them andtheir character and will show if they can consistantly win on the road (playoffs).

How do you guys feel about it? Agree or agree to disagree?

The real potential of this team will be determined when they're back to full strength. They're still growing, getting to know each other, and finding out what they're capable of.

I guess I should be used to this. We've gone through it so many times before. There's always the talk of a "statement" game or something similar.

Ron Artest said it best after the Lakers game when he said, "We're not in the playoffs yet."

Let's get them to the playoffs first, then we can think about how much "damage" they can do if and when they get there.

I'm not going to judge the team by how they play Friday because there are going to be a LOT of external factors at work. The first time back in Indiana for Ron is going to be lively, to say the least. And the team is going to want to show that they got the better end of the deal.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm enjoying this run ONE game at a time.

I do agree. I especially agree on your last comment on enjoying the run one game at a time.

I just feel people are jumping the gun especially after such a horrible first half of the season...

The players know their roles on the team now, which wasn't the case really in the first half of the season. Artest was the real spark this team needed as it was going nowhere fast. He's brought his leadership and intensity and it seems to have been contagious. We are going after rebounds now, fighting for every loose ball and even Brad Miller is blocking shots. Then there's the emergence of Kevin Martin & Fransico Garcia, two confident young studs on the rise. This is not the same team that started the season. There is passion again. Could this team fall back to mediocrity? yeah, it's possible, but I don't think Ron Artest will let them. I agree though, how good this team is, is still to be determined, but it's looking promising.

the way the team is playing now i think we could make it to 6 games against the spurs in a 7 game series. by the end of the regular season we could probably make it to 7 games. the kings are the hottest team in the league right now. we have to keep playing with this kind of intensity; work on our half court execution and defensive rebounding and we're going somewhere this year.

Suns are also blistering hot. I think they've lost 2 or 3 games of their last 20. We are definitely hot compared to how the season was going.

king kong and tyrant you guys are totally right and I agree. I just think if this team slips into mediocrity then that would be a huge let down. Im just hoping that their exceptional play stays and they can carry this type of game performance all through the rest of the seasona n into the playoffs.

If this is no fluke, and they continue to improve on the little things that mean so much, I have confidence in this team to take the spurs 7 games and beyond.

IMO the Kings are a fairly complete team for the first team in a while. Astoundingly, we are playing something which until recently was simply known as "that whose name we do not speak" DEFENSE. Though Bibby would be better off not even attempting to play defense, the rest of the guys are doing a very nice job of playing the passing lanes and keeping the dribble penetration to a minimum. Even Brad had 5 blocks last game. Never thought I would say Brad and 5 blocks in the same sentence. The only roadblock to our finally being a complete basketball team if our dependence on the outside shot. We should atleast have 5 or 6 set plays out of the post every quarter. Once we establish that aspect of our team, the Kings will officially be a threat in the playoffs. IMO the #1 or #2 seeds are not going to be happy about our late season surge.
