How does Bonzi fit into the offense?

They are not giving it to him in the post as much as I thought they would. He is settling for alot of jumpers.

Don't you think they should isolate him more and let him work in the post until the double team comes?

The Princeton offense does not make much room for allowing guys to work one on one in the post.

This is the same issue Reef is going through .. and trust me ... Reef is much more dangerous than Bonzi ever thought of being in the post. So, if we can't get Reef touches in the post - I don't see us getting Bonzi the touches.

We need to mix it up or drop the Princeton altogether in order to get people touches in the post. The Princeton just isn't meant for it.

I agree with this to a certain extent. Maybe they should run more of a triangle when Wells and SARs is in and run the Princeton when KT and one of the youngsters is in.

Kind of oddly really, in response to your intial question. I would consider this guy to basically be an iso postup guard, but for us he's really been playing the role of an all around garbageman as much as anything.

It is not how he fits into the offense the real question is how he fits in on the defensive side of ball that matters. What he has done for us on that side is what makes me like him even more.

I haven't really seen Bonzi play good defense. Perhaps I am missing something.

He's slow on rotating, he switches off on every man, he doesn't fight through picks very well, he's getting beat off the dribble consistantly.

He's one of our BETTER defenders, but nowhere near a positive.

His defensive rebounds are a positive to say the least. He has been a real warrior on the glass without him I shutter to think what our record would be like.

Bonzi has been great for us, he does a great job rebounding and on the defensive end and even though he settles for a lot of jumpers he is pretty good on offense

He just needs to be more consistent with his shot, he's fine on defence, and a huge boost in rebounding for us. His cutting to the hoop game looks good, its just that shot that looks a little shaky. Bonzi has been one of our best players this year.

I tend to agree. I love his energy, his passion and his desire to do the best job possible for the Kings.

His mindset reminds me a LOT of Doug Christie and I don't think that's a bad thing at all.

He got top rebounds AND steals against the Spurs. That shows a hustle I really appreciate. Since both Reef and Bonzi can play the post, I expect to see more of it as time goes by and they get used to each other and the rest of the team.

If this team gets to the playoffs we're going to have to see more of Bonzi (and Shareef) posting up. When the defense tightens up and these teams hustle back on defense more often to stop you in transition, you have to do something in the post. It might not be the playoffs, maybe in the last quarter of the season but they'll have to do it at some point because this Kings teams is probably not getting into the playoffs unless they get something out of the post.

When you see our guys going one on one than the offense is not being ran correctly. (well 90% of the time you see it).

bonzi's playing the kind of basketball that you respect.... rebound, defend, hustle, effort... etc

Well he's gotten most of his baskets on cuts or putbacks. He hasn't stretched defense with his shooting at all, but I actually really like what Bonzi has done so far this year. He's been making up in areas that the rest of theam is weak in: rebounding, defense, strong finishes and just general aggressiveness. The only issue is his ball handling.

I completely agree. I wasnt sure if trading for this guy was the right move, but just look at him rebound. The guy is playing great, I dont get why some people dont like him. If you keeps this up I hope he gets resigned.

Yeah you're exactly right about that, and I think the role suits him perfectly. An uber-talented garbage man! :D
