How do you feel about Petrie now?

Just wondering how folks feel about GP now? I wasn't for the trade, but hey, let's see where we go from here. :)

Anyone upset he didn't bundle a Philly guy? Didn't get another "big" back? Glad to see he had the guts to trade a "pet" project of his?

Was this done purely for financial reasons or personnel reasons or both?

Opinions?

Its not official until its posted on Kings.com. Its on nba.com, espn, bloomberg, and new york tablo...post. Im all for it, but I still feel we need one more trade. Ron will get frustrated at the lackluster effort on some "other" guys parts and probably decimate the morale if we keep the "no action joe's" around. We really need to get KT out of here or package him with Bibby or something.

This probably didn't have much to do with Petrie. It's not like Artest was a "find" - this deal was kind of a no brainer.

Even so, we'll have to wait to see how it pans out.

He's a risk taker and his risks in the past have panned out and hopefully this one will as well. I also tend to think that this may be a vote of confidence for Adelman. If the team turns things around with Ron and he's on his best behavior then I can see Adelman back here next year....if he wants.

A while ago I called him a moron for trading Chris and not getting ron-well I am happily eating my words(think that's the expression anyways, or is it eating crow?) now!:D

I don't understand why wait 40 games into the season do do this. Makes no sense at all. Something had to happen and this deal was there all the time. Why not a month ago ? Why now ? Why wait to 17 - 23 ?

I think the maloofs had more to do with this deal then Petrie did......was this really that big of a move by Petrie considering this is the trade that was mentioned for the past 2 years and he finally pulled the trigger??

I think he should have tried to unload some of our dead weight, but I'm not unhappy.

There is a chance that Artest's offense was a by-product of playing with the team that he did - ala Peja's offense was a by-product of his team. It may shut off a little or a lot on this Sacramento team... not that I'm upset about that.

One possibility is that Peja wasn't Indiana's first choice, and it only became urgent for them when the Maggette trade fell through. The Kings may have been willing to trade Peja all along and only now did the Pacers feel the same way.

I think he just took a huge gamble... I think his plans have all been scrapped and that he is now obviously desperate because of his miscalculations... If you were going to do this why not sooner? All that being said, if it clicks, he could come up GOLDEN. A lot of people said when Artest was coming back this year he would be fine... why? Because he had to.. this was his fresh start, his last chance, and we all see how it worked out. Yet we still want to hope that this time it will be different, I sure hope it will. If Artest can play well and stay on the court we can start winning again, he can rub off on everyone else defensively, he can match up with the best offensive players in the game a la DC, but unlike DC can score better than almost anyone on our team. This could either be very good or very bad... here's to hope.

Maggette is not much worse hurt than Pedja - makes no sense

I think he actually thought this team would be better without Webber. Add in Reef and Bonzi and we had one of the best starting fives in basketball, remember?

Apparently Maggette has more long-term health issues than Peja, and even still Peja has an expiring deal and Maggette is signed through 2009.

yeah, but we sucked a month ago too

Can't wait for Bonzi to get healthy again. The toughest 2-3 combo in the league. When is the last time that "tough" was used to describe any combo on the Kings?

Thats my point, he was wrong, now he has to do something about it. It's the only explanation, when has Geoff ever been this reckless? Gambling the orginization on the reliabilty of Artest?? I wonder what that idiot Grant Napier is going to say, he's been screaming that it would never happen and hanging up on anyone who even brought it up.

we haven't seen Peja motivated since the 2003 season before webber come back, if they are getting that Peja (will see), then it won't be such a great deal for us. but then again, I don't think we would have ever saw that Peja again in a Kings uni barring Vlade losing about 15 years off his age and rejoining the kings.

Mr Bird and Mr Petrie are BOTH trying to get the BEST deal possible for their guy. So they have probably been entertaing lots of offers and comparing the best ones. RA and Pedja are boh guys who have the potential to really help a team. They ALSO are currently not doing squat to help the team they are on... makes the trade complicated. I also suspect Petrie was hoping Pedja would put up better numbers making for a better deal, and now he (GP) has to do something, anything and Pedja's value has NOT gone up.

That's for sure, people this morning were comparing it to TO and the Eagles, but we are one of the worst teams in the league already and Pejas contract will be up at the end of the year anyway, it's worth the risk.

Hope you dont include Bibby in this. Hes easily got the worse "D" of anybody in on the Kings team. If were going to change and get the "Bad boy" club image going, go for a Bibby-Francis swap or something. Francis is unhappy in Orlando.

It is if we keep Peja. He wont free up that much cap space anyway, considering Bonzi will be resigned here and no one else would want to come here. Better off getting a great player for dirt cheap and run a risk that way rather than the other.

well, while you are at it, get fortson as well. and then get sprewell as player's (strangling) coach. that should turn some heads.

I think that's a good take. HUGE gamble. Huge. I am ready for change, but this is a deal I never thought would happen. I don't know. I was all for taking Bonzi on despite his past, but Artest's past scares me.

If it wasn't the Kings we were talking about, I'd actually like to see that team play.....

What does that say about me? :D

I was wondering the same thing.
