How about that Darko

mcsluggo

Starter
With four of his team-mates suspended, he manages to rack up an awe-inspiring 6 minutes.

I have yet to see him in action (trying to actually SEE his minutes is like going on a snipe hunt... a whole lot of sitting around in the woods with a stupid bat in your hand). But he CAN'T be so bad that it isn't worth at least TRYING to give him an occasional 10 minutes here and there to see what he can do.

I bet he'll see some daylight next couple of Pistons' game.........

I disagree ... he IS THAT BAD.

In fact, it is almost impossible to give him 10+ minutes. He usually fouls out in like 5.

I don't get it........the scout should noticed if he is really that bad........I don't think he's really that bad.......I think with all the adjusting and learning at the same time hurt quite a bit.......remember he's just a teenager.....(18 or something...yeah?)

its kinda depressing. he's one of those big investment projects. i just hope he doesnt end up being the dumbest pick since michael olowakandi. that would be really depressing, especially when guys like carmelo anthony and dwayne wade were available....

Well, he needs to play in order to show what he can or can not do. Sso far one can not really tell.

well........I guess you're right.......they could have Camelo as well.......
i don't think they would have won the title if they had melo. he doesn't play much D. prince did a great job in the playoffs defensively, that huge block on miller, he kept kobe in check in the finals.

They would have had Melo AND Prince. That can't be a bad thing.

Sure it can, if he is a cancer.
Larry benched him on the olympic team.
No D, not efficiant from the floor. Detroit has no passing PG or great passing bigman (remember, no Darko, probably no Sheed)
He would not have looked much better than Darko.

Jabob, you are in serious denial.
Let me just reiterate:
FACT Larry benched him on the olympic team
FACT His defence leaves somethign to be desired
FACT He is not efficiant from the floor
FACT Detroit has NO passing PG
FACT Detroit has NO great passing bigman (remember, no Darko, probably no Sheed)

With all these FACTS, why is it a big leap to say that even the possibility of a cancerous personality, and the possibility of NOT getting Rasheed Wallace would have made Carmelo a bench warmer and look not much better than Darko?

The "no Darko, no Sheed" part doesn't make any sense. I don't see how the two transactions (drafting Darko, trading for Sheed) are related in any way.

I think Darko might be horrible, but having in mind how LB treated Carmelo and how he treats rookies in general, I'll postpone my judgment...

WORD! I'm thinking the exact same thing.........

Dumars seems to have been looking for the "Final piece". Darko didn't immedietly pan out, so they needed to look elsewhere. So he made every effort to get sheed (including calling in a favor from Ainge... lol) Had Melo even been servaceable, he may not have made the effort, or he would have earlyer in free agency made an effort to get a solid, but not starlike 3rd bigman.

Thanks for explaining that, it is so hard to explain things to people on this board. Not picking up Carmello was the best thing the Pistons ever did (because it got them a title) but not picking up Wade really hurts right now. Time will tell because if Darko turns out to be what people said he was before the draft (remember J. Oneal averaged 3 pts per game his first 4 years) then this may end up matching the 84 draft with Hakeem, Jordan, Barkley and
Stockton.

Well, I think even if they had 'Melo they still would've needed to make a move. Okur wasn't cutting it as a starter and they weren't a title contender before getting Wallace. If you're not very high on 'Melo, then you'd have to think Dumars would still be looking for that missing piece anyway.

Oh, no doubt. I mean, like every playoff team, they had a shot, but if you pay attention to the 1st half of the season, it was pretty obveous the Pistons were going to fall apart without that trade. They had just come off a 13 game win streak, (and a shakey one at that) and then the wheels were starting to fall off, they dropped like 5 of 6 before the trade. But Melo I think would have just made that skid alot worse.

Melo may have screwed things up, I'll give you that.

Wade or Bosh, I dont think so.

But no GM is perfect, not even GP..
