Now that we are at it, would someone like to explain to me the point of Fat Lever? No ties to Sacramento.. You can get someone like Doug Christie or someone who is beloved by the community next to Gerould

Yeah, Doug's geting dragged (kicking and screaming I am sure) into a more...interesting arena at this point.

I never understood why he didn't divorce Jackie. She's crazy. I don't understand why he wants to do this. This type of stuff should be way beneath him IMO.

I'm not a huge fan of Napear. I'm much less a fan of smokey the redhead. Just far too much fluff with little analysis from Grant, on telecasts and his show. Really not his style which bother me as I grew up in NY and am used to that type. I question his knowledge though, especially compared to how he critiques the NFL. Anyone listening the day after the Det massacre knows what I'm referring to, when Grant said our defense was terrible, yet didn't know why and asked his audience why it was the defense has been a failure. Really? You travel with the team, sit courtside at every game, have access to players and coaches, and you still don't know? Well, at least 10 posters here and probably more could have spelled out for him in detail exactly why 3-4 guards lineups and s*** rotations which leave your best documented defenders on the bench for long stretches might hurt the team on that end.

And smokey the redhead blows more smoke than knowledge during telecasts. But, amongst all the garbage were facts/observations that both Grant and our previous head coach/current FO employee either did not notice, or were told not to talk about. Key among them were our sub patterns, and Smart habit of playing starters 16+ mins in some stretches, and then icing them and not bringing them back. A former player realizes this. You get cold and lose rhythm. Yet it's beyond the grasp of our regular broadcast team. Same with MT jacking everything he touches. And given Grant doesn't have any more of a clue about our problems on his radio show, I doubt it's simply he's been told not to talk, although could be on telecasts. I question his knowledge.

Kayte C was hands down the best analyst we had. Maybe Grant did feel threatened and that's why she isn't here. But she's more like one of us where she analyzes the game instead of just spraying various homerisms every time a mic is in front of her. It was nice that at least one member of the media team didn't think we were all watching our first basketball game. But Grant, Jerry, Koz, Turner and Ross, offer little knowledge, and some offer none. Koz and Ross might be the nicest of people and I wouldn't mind grabbing a beer with them, but as a source of analysis? Please..... Koz did at least move on, and I see a lot of him here in the Bay Area, doing CSNBA and Earthquakes games.

I did. It was also clearly his opinion. He compared it to a flop although the NBA seems to allow it and these guys taking a charge are getting creamed and not just flopping.

Edit: As Jerry would say, you have a right to be somewhere.

I thought the most cringe-worthy moment was a few minutes after that exchange when Walton asked Napear, "So how many charges did you take in your career?"

Napear, naturally, had nothing for that. I can't stand Walton, but he did put the smack-down on Napear with that little jab.

Bill Walton has made us masters of the mute button as we can't stand his grandstanding, wild and unbelievable spoutings supporting his being the King of Blathering. Jerry adds excellent knowledge of the game and players with down home humor and fairness for both Kings and visiting players. He is an excellent Yang to Grant's Ying. They inform and entertain especially given the peak-valley nature of this Years Kings team. Walton's loud blathering = hit the mute button.

I have no idea anymore what the Maloof's deal with any of that stuff is. Probably though. But still MSE is seperate from all that stuff as far as I can tell.

So they say, but money gained or lost in one area of their life effects what can be spent elsewhere so I think when they say things like this, they are getting caught up in details that really make no difference to us. Money is fungible which is a cool word. It's like when they said last summer they spent $67 mil and we shouldn't be disappointed. When I think of basketball salaries, I think of money spent in one year but what they meant is that they committed themselves to $67 mil over the lengths of newly signed contracts. In other words, they saw the pickup of Hayes as $20 mil while the rest of us saw it as $5 mil. They are speaking a different language. that is probably not purpously misleading. It mislead me.

Jerry and Grant are two of the most fair announcers in the league. If you don't believe me, try listening to some of the other announcing teams around the league. Anyone that thinks Reynolds doesn't know what he's talking about is an idiot. He's been a part of professional basketball for 50 years. He's been a head coach in the NBA. I've been lucky enough to have sat down with him on a few occasions and talked basketball. The man is a wealth of knowledge. He may appear as a country bumpkin on the broadcasts, but thats just Jerry trying to be intertaining. And personally, I think he does a good job of seperating his entertaining side from his professional side. He's a lot tougher guy in person.

As for Grant, if you separate his TV broadcasts from his radio broadcasts, there's a distinct difference. On his radio show he can be quite negative and abrasive, but on TV, he's an entirely different personality. He'll be critical of our players if needed and he'll praise our players if deserved.

Walton drives me almost insane. I tend to be a logical person, and when someone spews out crap, thats not based on anything other than pure BS, I start to tune out big time. There were moments last night when I thought Walton wanted to have sex with Ray Allen. I mean my god, enough already! We get it, the Celtics are sitting on the right hand of god, and should be worshiped forever. Thompson is in the running as one of the best PF's in the NBA. Cousins can't rebound. Thornton never passes the ball, but somehow had 4 assists at the time of the statement. Thornton is out of control. Thornton is the best player on the floor. Wait, Thompson is the best player on the floor. Allen and Pierce are a couple of the hardest working players in the league. Garnett doesn't join them in the workouts. But no one denys his dedication, just look at the dedicated look on his face. This man spews out more crap than anyone I know that was a national announcer. Almost none of based on facts.

And for the one extreme or the other folks, none of this means I hate Bill Walton. I just don't like listening to him, and will turn off the volume on the next game he broadcasts.

I was about to post and then I saw your post. Now my message will sound like I copied you. Thanks.

Baja, you've summed up my view on all three very well. Well said. Walton as an occcasional visitor is OK by me, I don't listen to much of him anyway. Reynolds and Napear are my people. We have grown up together.

I like Walton as a change of pace. I wouldn't mind seeing him more often than currently, but not 100% of the time.

I don't think some of you guys understand Walton's whole shtick. The thing with him is you can't take ANYTHING he says seriously and you will understand the comedy that he brings. That's the whole thing, he doesn't know much about current basketball and he just spews hilarious nonsense. Some of you are trying to take in what he says as actual basketball insight and then getting angry at the fact that his insight sucks, that's just not what he is here for! Once you stop trying to critique his viewpoints and just accept that he is pure comedy, you will be able to understand.

All of this, lol

What if you just don't think he's that incessantly funny? That's why a lot of people say "once in a while".

Having be on every broadcast would be like listening to someone tell the same joke over and over and over. At a certain point it gets old. For some it apparently gets old sooner than for others.

Walton may be a bit of clown, but he makes me laugh. It has not been often that I smile during Kings games this year so I like it.

And that's his gimmick, he cracks me up.

Love Walton coming in for special occasions but heck no to replacing Jerry.

Meh, he is pretty original with his comments. That Ray Allen/American River comparison was pure gold. I also loved "Jimmer Fredette- DEFENSIVE STALWART!" and after talking about Ray Allen as the greatest shooter in history, "Travis Outlaw might just be the greatest shooter in history!"
