Heat vs. Mavericks Game 3 Thread

I guess a of people here are in the neither should wait category. If we have a poll about who should win, with neither as one of the option, I think that will be the winner ;)

That was a dopey play no matter what the announcers say.

eh...it was one of those plays that if it works, it's brilliant. Avery will be second-guessed in the Dallas media, but I thought it was as good a call as any in that moment. You have to figure that Miami spent their entire timeout keying on how they would stop Dirk...then they come out and Dirk is inbounding the ball. Plus, with Shaq and Mourning on the bench, they had a decent chance of converting it. I like the call...it was simply a coaches decision to employ some misdirection. It certainly didn't cost them the game.

If they were going to go with a high risk pass they may as well have just dumped it off to whoever for a quick 3, at least the reward would merit the risk. I really think they should have done something that guaranteed them a shot though.

I was really disappointed...

I turned in at the end to see Cuban's face and they didn't show him. That just sucks...

:)

What shot are you guaranteed? A turn-around, fall-away 3 pointer with someone in your face? There are no guaranteed shots in that situation. A pass is just as likely to be poked away on the perimeter. And the pass wasn't so high risk, especially if you've got someone tall enough and skilled enough to get it there (Dirk). I think it was just as good an opportunity as ANY in that situation.

I never said any shot was guaranteed, it just seemed like it was a risky play for a shot that would only tie the game. But my comment was more directed at how the announcers were gushing over the play at the end, I don't think any play that results in the other team swatting it away and not even getting in bounds is a "great play".

Okay, here's my question:

Dirk Nowitzki is their go-to guy. He's the one they've ridden all the way to the NBA finals. WHY was he the inbounder? I don't care what the stupid announcers said; that was IMHO lame.

EDIT: Oops. Sorry. I didn't realize this had already been brought up. Just add my two cents to those who have already mentioned how lame it was.

:p

Well, I don't know if it worked the same way for you as it did for me ... but I think they made it up by showing a little bit of Kournikova. God bless Her!!!

I'm very glad Heat won. I am rooting for them, but I'm not ready for bball season to be over with yet. Heat in 7 works for me:D

impressive game by wade. he managed to not only stay in the game, but take it over dispite having 5 fouls with 10:56 left in the 4th. thats awesome

tie it up tommorrow heat!

LETS GO HEAT!!!!!!!!!

i am really happy for wade. im glad he had the chance to have this kind of game. he certainly needed to step it up, and he rose to the challenge. thats very telling for a young kid with so much pressure. this sort of game certainly does not hurt the argument that wade is in the same league as bron.

I would argue that Wade has already been in the same class as Lebron and as of right now is possibly better because of one factor: defense. Lebron's effort on the defensive end is average at best (most of the time it is absolutely nonexistant) whereas Wade has gradually improved and made big stops throughout the playoffs in critical moments (he has worked with Payton and is training with Kobe over the summer). There is no question that Lebron has the most potential of the two simply because of his size and athleticism; in fact, he could be a ridiculously good defender if he puts those gifts to use. However, until that time comes, I believe Wade is the better player because he gives it his all on both ends of the court.

On top of all that, there is one other huge factor that pushes Wade past Lebron: shot selection. Wade rarely - if ever - takes bad shots and shoots at an extrmely high percentage whereas Lebron often falls in love with the 3 ball instead of driving to the hoop like he should.

:D

unfortunately, we are in the minority in sharing this opinion.

Um, God has already blessed her. :)

I don't see how you can hate Dirk more than Shaq.

I like Dirk a lot. Think he's kind, humble, hardworking, and utterly demanding of himself. He's terrific.

(this after repeatedly calling him a Nazi four years ago when we played the Mavs in the playoffs :D)
