Head coach & GM options

It's funny how so many come out and automatically assume some Bay Area writer is just making stuff up like this instead of looking at it the other way and seeing that it could be true. Like the above poster said, DMC has been completely silent since all this has gone down. The fact that he tweeted props for KJ doesn't necessarily mean that he didn't want the team to go to Seattle. Just means he has respect for an ex-NBA player turned mayor for his efforts.

With all the crap that DMC has put this franchise and the fans through the past couple of years, it would not surprise me in the least that he wanted to to go to a bigger market to play basketball.

My hope is that he's traded and that the new GM can get us a few solid players/good prospects to build with. It's always been my feeling that despite DMC's talents, he will never lead us to become a championship caliber team.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out....

You can now start the LWP bashing!

Your not worth the trouble. Which is sad!

LWP777 your post is annoying with all the positive things going on for the kings. Did you ever think about the roster the MaGoofs put on the floor to play with Cousins, or better yet, the coaches with lack of direction that were supposed to help him even though they didn't know how to help the kings. He is what only 22 years old. That is nothing... He has the talent to be great.. You don't ever trade away great.... It doesn't come along that often..

Your wasting your time. Logic and reason are unknowns to him. Too bad since his otherwise a bright guy, or gal. You never know do you.....

I am not convinced that Boogie has a clear idea of how to run a PnR (nor do I so maybe a bit of an explanation would be in order for us dummies) but what I saw was Boogie prematurely heading on a role to the basket and the PG completely ignoring him. It was like Boogie refused to set an adequate pick that would help the PG and got rewarded with nary a glance. It seems to me that Boogie rolling to the hoop would be hard to stop. He isn't a Tyreke (who is?) but for a guy his size he can take the ball to the rim as good or perhaps the best of anyone his size. It now is a wasted play as run by IT and Boogie unless I am totally confused on what is supposed to be happening. I swear I never saw Boogie get a pass on the role.

And to followup on what IfAT1st wrote, the standard play for Boogie was to give him the ball and let him fend for himself. He did OK but that's because of his skill set. He's good!

Would want to set picks for guards that never got you the ball when you are wide open down the lane? Any issues with PNR is on the guards for this team.

Malone's representative has connected with Clippers and he is expected to interview with them soon. He was with Chris Paul in N. Orleans.

It would be concerning if Malone is interviewing with teams who have better personnel than us, who could also be considered by some as being in more "attractive" markets.. I think maybe our full court press on him may have risen his stock a little around the league.. hopefully the contact he has with other teams is for leverage purposes.. but it also concerned me that Chris Paul has had positive things to say about him

Agreed, and more than a bit disturbing that seemingly Del Negro was axed in order to appease, who else, Chris Paul, the Clipp's priority FA.

Lol! Nice one but big diff between a typo on my iPhone and not knowing the difference between you're and your!

I love u too VF.

And once again I will remind you that you are NOT the grammar police. Knock it off.

Not the biggest Demarcus guy myself, but his talent and the curiosity of how he'll play for a real coach outweight his trading stock, by a fair margin.. Other teams around the league at this point believe they can poach him for little, no one will give you anywhere near proper talent market value for him.. so no, its not worth trading him for role players or mid/late 1rst picks now
Ahhhh....But, what if you could get proper talent market value for him? Would you?

Try to imagine Cousins with the support of the owners, GM, coaches ,teammates, city, and fans behind him. Imagine his intensity harnassed in a positive way every game.. Just imagine what he can be like with real ownership that has a real desire to win urging him on and cultivating that intensity in a constructive way. He could be the most dominant big man in todays game. I believe we have the right ownership. Now all we need is a front office and a head coach that can get Cousins to be who he was meant to be. Just imagine. I can. Can you? I love the Sacramento Kings!

I'm concerned about it.. If you visit Clipper forums, Malone is now the fans choice.. We are at the mercy of Sterling if the interest is true, as you wouldn't fault anyone for taking that job over this one

Nothing dramatic about my post. I just don't believe he's the guy who will lead us to a championship and I'm not the only one who shares that opinion. Oh, and if you aren't aware of the crap he's put us through the past few years then you're blind.

Yea... you're being dramatic, but continue lol i'm sure you will.

i'm not sure you do. historically, 20/10 centers lead to wins and playoff appearances. DMC is well on his way to becoming such a player. personally, i think you're playing against the odds...

Just ignore him lol he wants to make the thread about him and his contrarian ways, and he's succeeding, unfortunately.

Dammit Baja! How many times do I hand to point this out to you? It's YOU'RE not YOUR!

I love u Baja.

Actually last time you criticized me for using You're, and now you're telling me to use it. Fact is, its optional. Look it up! Nice seque though!

Exactly.

I cannot imagine why any Kings fan would want to part with Cousins without seeing what he'll do under the new leadership. It doesn't cost us anything to keep him through this year but getting rid of him too early only to see him flourish under new conditions would be an incredibly bitter pill to swallow.

this is exactly the view that everyone needs to have whether they personally like the guy or not. well done sir

Do they have a better roster, though? If you're a coach, would you rather have Chris Paul and Blake Griffin or Demarcus Cousins and Tyreke Evans?

Obviously the Clippers are better now, but are they built to win championships or will they need significant roster retooling first? If they aren't ready now, then it's not a given that they are the more attractive option.

no, Blake Griffin is crap. everyone is wowed by his athleticism but his actual skills are not very good

If your asking me personally, I think if given the choice Malone would choose the Clips job over the Kings. We are Kings fans so we may see things a bit differently but ask that question to a non-partial hoops audience and that will be clear. To me our chance is if he DOESN'T get the choice.. and reports like this one today are a step in the right direction: http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/...scott-vacant-coach-position-according-sources

The Los Angeles Clippers have contacted Byron Scott about becoming their next coach, according to league sources.

Clippers general manager Gary Sachs reached out to Scott via telephone this week, asking if he has interest in coaching the team. Scott, who was recently fired by the Cleveland Cavaliers, has interest in the job, a source close to the situation said.

The talks were preliminary, no offer was made, and no official interview has been set up yet. A source said the Clippers' front office is currently putting together a list of candidates that it will take to owner Donald Sterling.

Jeff Van Gundy, Nate McMillan, Brian Shaw and Lionel Hollins are some of the names reportedly on the list, along with Scott.

Malone not on this list. I've heard that management, particularly Sterling, wants a big name coach.. The report that Chris Paul wanted a black coach sounded more than a bit racist to me, but now unfortunately I wouldn't mind if some of that is true.

You left out the most interesting bit of that article (or maybe it was updated?)

While the Clippers like Malone, they believe he is likely to become the next coach of the Sacramento Kings

Sounds like Malone has a handshake deal with Vivek. :D

Okay, I'll play along. Sure all this sounds great. The problem is that do you think that we're going to win 40+ games this year? I'm just as excited as everybody about the changes that have taken place and the changes that are about to happen but I don't think we're going to leapfrog into the playoffs this year. So with that being said, what's DMC's demeanor going to be like if we go 30-52? Is he going to have a great attitude just because we have better owners, coach, and GM?

The guy hates losing, which is one thing I respect about him but he also doesn't know how to control himself when things go badly.

Yeah, that was an updated part, good stuff.. As our deal finalizes tomorrow, I expect to hear something, probably tomorrow on where this is heading

Does GM Stand for George Maloof?
by Greg Moefoola
Gazette Staff Writer

Vivek Ranadive is known as a visionary. Rarely has his vision ever been as controversial.

Sources have revealed that Ranadive is prepared to offer the general manager position of his newly purchased Sacramento Kings to none other than former Kings owner George Maloof.

"It makes some sense," the source said. "George knows that team, knows those players, knows that market. And he's a businessman from a family of businessmen."

Indeed, George's business acumen was supposed to have so impressed Mr. Ranadive during the final days of their negotiations that rather than react with anger at having to contribute another $10 million dollars to the Maloof coffers in order to close the purchase, he told associates that Mr. Maloof was precisely the sort of individual he needed as part of his new organization.

When contacted, Maloof was humble and said only more...
