I have faith that we will be a good team again. I've come to realise that it wont be with this roster though.
That means it will take longer and potentially be more painful, but that will only make the sucess all the sweeter when it arrives.
It wouldnt surprise me if the next couple of seasons were needed to compile the right personnel and that means more results like the one vs Portland last night, but it wont always be that way.
So it looks as though im going to experience the evolutionary cycle of an NBA team in realtime!! (will take longer than caterpillar to butterfly, but then, i had nothing in the diary for the next few seasons)
We need Peja's 20+ points per game,we need Bibby's assists(a lot of them),we need Kenny who was scoring 12,5 ppg last season,we need chemistry. This what I am saying is not something huge, they just have to play some basketball out there.
I'd move two of the starters for bench material and solid roleplayers.
It's awful to trade a "more" talented player for 2 or 3 lesser talented players ... but we NEED to do that.
Starting tomorrow my lineup would consist of:
PG - Price
SG - Bibby
SF - Peja
PF - Reef
C - Miller
If Price succeeds in playing POINT GUARD, I'd keep him there for the remainder of the season. Once Bonzi returns, he and Bibby can scrap it out for SG.
This team needs a PG, and Price has shown glimpses of being one. He drives the lane and kicks it. He plays solid defense and actually pressures the ball and hustles downcourt.
It could all be the honeymoon period, but I'll take it.
Price showed something none of the Kings guards have shown all year - hustle on defense.

Yes I was thinking that just the other day -- the only LOGICAL way to break out of a terrible slump is to say screw it and start the 6'1" undrafted FA tweener OG who's been our 12th man until the last two games. I mean, who could argue with that?

Why can't we just switch Peja's position to a SG. He can't rebound anyways and plus he will have a size advantage over most SGs. Oh yea and don't forget he has proven to play pretty decent defense against SGs like T-Mac. Then we could put Bonzi at the SF position because he likes to post and collect the rebounds.
No we dont. We did that with Webber. See how that works? You don't trade for depth. We have depth. We need 7-8 pieces that fit around a star. Trading down won't do that. Sorry.
Yeah pretty hard for anyone to have faith right now - this season is spiraling out of control and it isn't inconceivable that the Kings could end up with the league's worst record this year. Unbelievable.

It happens. That is why we say "There's always next season!" This year that may prove more true than it has in a LONG time. Hope for the best ans expect the worst.
