Report: DeMarcus Cousins told Kings not to fire George Karl http://dlvr.it/Ckf1zq

from the link:

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated:

Still, sources on both sides believe the relationship is salvageable, at least for the rest of this season. Cousins wants to win and he knows playing for a fourth coach in the last two years isn’t going to get him any closer to it. He has made it clear to Kings executives that he doesn’t want Karl fired, according to sources. And Karl understands he can’t meet ownership’s expectations without him.

1) For all his coach killer reputation, Boogie has always been reluctant to go there. He is as far from a CP3 agitator shoving knives in the back of Vinny Del Negro as you could get. His resistance is honest, not Machiavellian.

2) if it WERE Machiavellian, this would be a minorly brilliant play by Big Cuz, because it would move Karl toward the sort of position Blatt is in with LeBron. Whew! The big star does not want me fired...but now I am beholden to him for my job, and if I ever pee him off so much he changes his mind...

In regards to your second point, Cousins just checkmated George Karl at his own game.

Cuz said publicly that his outburst was not about Karl. Still every "source" claims the relationship is nearly unfixable.
I'm tired of all that. Too much speculation going around.
So I focus on what's visible on the court and only judge players, coaches and executives by their actions and words, when there is an actual quote.
So far we are 2-7, with Cuz missing 4 games. Too early to give up on the season and fire yet another coach. Although the way we play leaves a lot to be desired.

Article has the wrong conclusions drawn from it. Vlade isn't a problem. The Philly trade, was good not bad. But this little excerpt stuck out.

And it’s not the first time Karl wanted Cousins suspended, either; last season Karl wanted to ban Cousins for a game for bad body language during timeouts, according to two sources familiar with the situation.

But in general it seem Vlade/FO is more than willing to part with Karl at some point and the decision has been made, it's just more a question of when than if. Karl seems to have handled Cuz as poorly as one could throughout his first few months here.

They talk about "The Philly Trade" like it's some cataclysmic event that will cripple the Kings for ages to come. Come on now.

Belinelli > Nik
WCS >= JT
Koufos > Landry

It was a bet that worked out. It did not cripple this franchise, but it had the potential to hurt this franchise. But it didn't.

If you're looking for a cataclysmic event, look to December 15, 2014.

At this point, I simply no longer care what goes on behind closed doors. I don't care who hates whom and I couldn't possibly care less if a player curses in the locker room or throws a fit.

I want to see heart, hustle, energy and effort. I don't care if I ever hear a spoken word from anyone in a Kings jersey again. It doesn't matter. What happens for 48 minutes ON THE COURT is what matters. IMHO everything else is crap, pure and unadulterated crap - spread around by almost everyone to serve their own agendas and I'm tired of jumping through their hoops.

Play the freaking game. Shut up and do your damned jobs.

Not sure what those comparisons have to do with the trade or how you've determined that the potential downside of the trade has been averted.

what realistic potential downside?

Trading picks with woeful Philly is downside only if we win a lottery.
Getting rid of Landry's contract at the expense of Nick (JT neutral) is worth it.

The only thing left is 2018 first round pick.
In my mind, having exciting season, getting 2 (maybe 3 if Rondo stays) quality rotational players with no bad contracts, even if it does not pan out this year is worth it.

If we are counting on 2018 first pick for anything, that would mean that Cus is not with us anymore, and in that case I do not care if we are going for another 10 years of hell or 11.

Unless you think that the scenario where Kings are again bottom 5-6 team in the league this year is realistic, I do not see what downside you are talking about.

Didn't know where to put this, but in news that shocked absolutely no one: Kings players are bothered that Karl talks more to media than them.

EDIT: Found another interesting article from the village idiot Ric Bucher, rings true and validates a lot of what's been said around here: DMC is Trying to Make it Work with Karl. Take that, haters! :)

I had liked your post UNTIL you made the grievous error of editing it and including the name of a particular village idiot. Sorry, but I believe NOTHING that comes from him, whether it agrees with my opinion or not, and I have had to rescind my "like" of your post.

*sad seal face* Totally warranted; I'm a little new to the forum posting etiquette! :)

It was a difficult decision, but I actually didn't realize it was Ric until after I read the article, which is why I was so surprised!

Make-up like! Ric is a ****-waffle but there's no rule against posting his stuff. VF was just expressing her [well-deserved] distaste!

I'm not sure I understand your post, but it sounds obtuse.

Obviously moving out JT, Tophat and Sauce and bringing in Rondo, Koufos, Marco and WCS is a big upgrade in talent, especially defensive talent. As far as I am concerned there is no downside.

What I drew out of all this is that of course DeMarcus doesn't want Karl fired...at least for this season. Do you really believe he wants to play for yet another head coach? after awhile you can only take so much. I still believe DeMarcus and Karl won't see eye to eye and that by seasons end Vlade will do him a favor and relieve him of his duties.

Boogie certainly has taken on the leadership and as with everything, done it his way. We've seen him grow as a player and an individual. I absolutely see this as true. Whilst they may be at it and have a dynamic relationship, demarcus rates winning above all else and respects Karl as in the sense that he is necessary to get there.

Case in point - as the losses added up, I wrote a message on one of boogies Instagram posts about how he changed games when he was in the paint and how this recent perimeter play wasn't as effective or efficient. Demarcus wrote back to me, effectively told me where to go and reiterated that I wasnt a coach.

It's clear boogie will do whstever it takes to win, be it playing on the outside for Karl's offence or calling a team meeting to emphasise defence and effort and tweaks to the system. He is our leader and he is absolutely about winning and I'm confident he will work with Karl through this.

Karl handling Cousins is probably similar to Carlisle handling Rondo.....both coaches are struggling with the strong personalities of these players. And it doesn't make these two coaches bad coaches as they are not, but I am of the opinion that it doesn't make these 2 players cancers.....high maintenance? Maybe. These are 2 players whose talents are great and have high basketball IQs....Cousins is an emotional player. He's emotional when we are on these losing streaks, he's emotional when we are winning.

Look, Malone seemed to reach Cuz as did his college coach, so it's not impossible, it takes a different approach. Karl has his hands full with Cuz.

Amazing actually. I think Cuz wants a coach/(father) and is willing to settle for Karl. I actually kinda like his response.
