Potapenko and Hart did not play...coach's decision. Could this be a sign of good things to come? I hope so.;)

I won't be terribly excited if they were waived to make space for Amundson and/or Williams. Neither of the four is likely to see much time during the season, and I don't know if either Lou or Williams are a quantum leap better than Pot in the front line.

They are younger though, so there is hope. Pot is an expiring contract however. There might be a chance that we are able to trade him for future considerations, or as part of a package for something better in the current season. As I mentioned earlier, it is not a given that if the Kings release any of the kids, some other team shall pounce and sign them. They might be available if we are able to clear a roster spot via trade later in the year.

Hart I could see getting let go, even WITH a guaranteed contract...Potato probably not, only because he has an expiring contract that could be used as trade fodder.

I wouldn't get too excited yet. It is only the 2nd preseason game, so for now it looks like Musselman was just giving Taylor and Price their chance to showcase how they fit on the roster. If it happens again on Thursday, then we can get our hopes up. Hart's roster spot is definitely not safe but hoping the multi-million dollar Potapenko gets cut might be a little too ambitious.

Pot has yet to pass his physical conditioning test so I don't think Muss will play him unless he does. Kind of laughable that a PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE can't pass a physical conditioning test

Raise the bar high enough, none of them would pass. Or switch the standards -- say everyone had to be able to bench 300lbs, and all of a sudden half the roster isn't passing. I understand the purpose of the test, in that Muss wants his team to run be uptempo or whatnot, but this isn't high school. "Not allowing" a guy who doesn't pass the test but has a guaranteed contract to play isn't hurting the player nearly so much as its hurting the Maloofs pocketbooks as they pay $4mil for a guy sitting out on a technicality. No Pot fan am I, but there are a lot of big guys in the league who are quite productive without being able to pass such a fitness test.

As an aside, in case people forgot, Hart actually played both quit e abit and quite well in preseason #1. Still may be gone, but he got the PT, and showed quite well in it. If he's out of here its not goign to becuase of his ingame preseason work. And of course there is always the question if we're going to try to snag a significant player with enders at the trading deadline. Be a reason to keep him.

BTW, both the Spurs and Pistons are supposed to be looking for a dependable vet 3rd PG. Heat too. All the power teams. Wonder if anybody has the room to absorb his $1+ mil contract?

No doubt, but I've learned from a friend at Kings HQ that Potapenko weighs over 300, and not just by a little. So it may be a health issue, too.

Well if he's gotten that tubby, then we are off into Oliver Miller land, and you can cancel my last transmission. Although I would think with his build that 275-280 or so might not be that outrageous a weight for him.

Maybe he'll have a heart attack.

That will clear up a roster spot!

You are are so mean, but right about it clearing up a spot for the youngins. Would we get out of the contract then or have to still pay the $3M to a dead guy? ;)

Vitaly is 6' 10' so 300 lbs isn't like a 5 footer being that weight. It's still pretty big though and since basketball is/can be a fast paced sport, not like soccer though, his conditioning could be a problem. Well at least he'll stay close to the basket and play goalie, unlike Mr. Miller our 7 footer guard! :D

I want the guy out of a Kings uniform too, but that doesn't mean I'm hoping he dies for that to happen...

His wife, who is a regular at my girlfriends old salon, is a sweetheart... I'm sure she wouldn't appreciate that joke one bit.

personally if you are looking to clear up roster spaces for young talent such as Williams, then keeping pot for a trade deadline doesn't do much for that and you probably won't get back a player as good that brings all the aspects we need in a big.

Muss maybe showing GP that he isn't going to use him and that he wants the young guys and they may eat the 4mil. I mean either way you eat it one way he is on the team sitting every night the other way you eat it and you get a chance to develope and young rebounding and shotblocking talent. Weigh it yourself and see what you come up with.

I say give him his trash bag.

Yeah...But if you werent on the court to start the game chances were Rick wasnt gonna play you much. Especially if you're a third stringer like Pota

Potapenko isn't the worst Kings big man to come down the pike (Channel 40 showed a clip of Ben Gillery the other day, appearing as a defendant on "People's Court," or somesuch). He's an expiring contract and a (too) big body, so he may be worth keeping on the 15-man roster as a practice guy with a trade-deadline move in mind. If the Kings are going to swallow a contract, I'd wager it will be Hart's, because they seem to be well-covered at that position and it's a smaller amount of money.

But at this point as far as team needs who proves more valuble williams or Pot. Pot is not the worst to come down but, he indeed may be the worst we have right now. I am not seeing anybody sending anything for his expiring contract. I mean at least a 2nd round pick could be better than him. If somebody does decide yeah lets trade this guy for Pot well how good could that guy be? Cut your losses and start develpoing the youngsters.

why is it too much salary to eat? I mean we all agree he will never see the court. So either way you are eating it. This way he waste space. The other way you eat it is to let him go and have a chance to develope an younger more athletic player. So either you eat it with nothing in return and no PT or you eat it with upside and potential. Becasue really think about what kind of player we would get for him.

we pretty much have no one but Vitaly to match up with the Magloires and Dampiers in the league, so i say keep him. not every team is gonna be playing speed ball, so I'd rather let woods and hart go. Hart almost seems like an inevitable mov because of price and salmons..oh and douby, granted we can switch a few around to the og spot.

^^^ pretty much agree. If both the youngsters are going to make it, I see at the expense of Woods and Hart.

But with my batting average, I've just jinxed that idea.

uhm Pot will never see the court. the point of having quicker players is to exploit those same guys you mentioned. Not to match up with them. we all know vitaley will never play.

I think you are missing the whole ending contract value -- nobody would be trading for Pot as a player, but rather jsut as a ways to dump a guy with a big contract off their roster to clear cap room. Thus Pot's (in)competence is not even a question -- they wouldn't care. Just be looking to shed salaries. You normally won't pick up an All-Star that way (as obviously those are the guys teams are willing to pay), but you can pick up a good player, or use the enders as part of a package for a great one. In any case, nobody is trading for Pot as a player. Just trading for his contract.
