I've been fairly impressed with Jimmer this season. There are things that he does that I hate, and he wasn't my pick .. the trade was terrible blah blah blah. But this is what we have, and what we have may actually become a decent player.
I think it is entirely possible that he can / will replace Marcus Thornton by the trade deadline / this off season. And if you have any doubt about my love for Marcus Thornton you haven't been here long enough. I've defended that guy a million times. I think he's awesome. The thing is, and it's early, but the bench thing hasn't been working to this point. He's got a GOOD long term contract, and he should have some value around the league. He's one of the few players on this team that has value that we can also afford to lose.
These are very basic statistics, but Jimmers per36 numbers this season are better than Thornton's have ever been. He's a better deep shooter, and he's a better play maker. They are both terrible defenders, and because Jimmer has never tasted the starting lineup he seems better suited in a bench role. He makes less money, and he is a player you CAN jerk around, meaning that if there is a night where he only gets 15 or so minutes it will be fine. This wouldn't sit well with MT.
