I also say the game ball should go to JT. Stat line of 15 boards, 10 points, 3 assists and 3 blocked shots in 35 minutes. All while playing one on one defense against David Lee who has been tearing it up.

If there's a reason NOT to give him the game ball I think it would be because of the second half of your statemnt there, and the results :p

There is no player of the game. This was a total team effort and victory. 25 assists to 9 turn-overs? Are you serious? Where has that been all season?

It has been a long time since I saw such nice ball movement resulting in many more easy shots by the Kings. Gimmee some more of that passing.

I just couldn't vote for anybody and now your post explains it. I totally enjoyed everybody's effort...each had some great moments adding up to the whole.

I'm surprised that there are not more comments about what agreat occasion this game was. It was great. Players did well, coaches did well. It was just what I want. I could go on but you get my point.

Best game of the season to watch no question.

Had that playoff atmosphere, trading buckets, big shots from both teams, Curry was fantastic, Cuz came alive late on, Brooks finally started hitting shots, IT, Jimmer and MT came in and were positive and the supporting cast all at least played with spirit.

I don't think anyone would complain if we played with that spirit every game and lost, it's the sulking and whining and crying coupled with the sauntering around the court that annoys me, and I'm sure others.

Brooks finally started hitting shots,

this phenomenon is becoming baffling to me.

Since moving into the starting lineup 17games ago, Brooks is shooting .496 from the field, and .414 from 3pt land.

Meanhile Jimmer is shooting .419 in December and .345 from 3pt land, and IT is shooting .450 in December, and .310 from 3pt land, And yet time and again to hear people tell it Brooks is the one struggling and needing to be replaced by these other guys for shooting purposes.

Brooks is the one with the most experience at point guard. Yet Brooks is the one doing the most stupid things at the position, like jumping up in the air before passing the ball to the opposition, or driving into traffic with nowhere to go. At least Jimmer and IT have the "inexperience excuse". What's his?

I wasn't really speaking in terms of 17 games ago (and yes i know you mean cumulatively before you jump on that) Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure you will, but i don't remember him shooting well against Denver and i don't remember him shooting well against Phoenix either. If someone goes 1-10 in one game and then 5-8 the next I'll probably say "he started hitting shots." Just a turn of phrase.

And i didn't mention him getting replaced by anyone for any purpose.

Now that's just an excuse, since they all routinely do stupid things.

For what its worth, Brooks starting numbers are 2.8ast to 1.8TO in 26min a game.
IT's numbers were 1.9ast to 2.0TO in 22min a game as a starter. Overall he's at 2.0ast to 1.7TO in 19min.
Jimmer is at 1.1ast to 0.9TO in 12+min a game. Comes out to about 2.2ast to 1.8TO in 25 min/gm.

Yet Brooks is apparently doing something especially terrible compared to these other guys?

That's the problem Brick, your comparing them to each other. They all suck at play making. Jimmer is the only one who really tries to get others easy baskets. His problem is that it's usually chuck on the other end of the pass in the paint.

I would also add that Brooks has almost no long-term upside for us. He's a journeyman scoring point guard who I wouldn't mind having as a bench guy on a good team lacking bench scoring and floor spacing.

I should also point out that Boogie, who should be the franchise cornerstone, played his absolute best stretch of ball as a pro with IT playing ball-dominant starting point guard at the end of last season. He has been flat this year as we went away from IT as primary ballhandler.

On the other hand, Tyreke has had his best stretch of games this year alongside AB and Salmons and during Cousins' struggles. What if Tyreke's game and Cousins' game just don't fit with each other, a la Carmelo and Amare.

There is no logical reason why that should be so, and if it were, you would expect Boogie's game to leap forward when Reke was out, or to have been better in the early part of the season while IT was the PG. Neither event has really happened. Up, down, and all around with so many of the problms effort/focus related.

No they don't. I watch the games. Brooks is the master of doing stupid things, and like I said, he's a veteran. What's his excuse? He's a nice outside shooter, but what you see is what you get with him in other areas of the game. At least with IT you have the possibility of there being more to his game (we saw it last year), that is unless you are to believe he's reached his ceiling, or more accurately, he's worse in playmaking than in his rookie year and he'll always be worse.

I agree with all of this. An example of something Brooks does a lot that doesn't show up in the box score (and I believe he did it at least twice in the Warriors game) is he will penetrate, leave his feet, and then once he realizes he has nowhere to pass the ball he will throw it all the way back towards half court. A lot of times, it results in a super low percentage shot because the shot clock is running out once a teammate recovers this pass. But on this play, he doesn't get a turnover so nothing would show up in Brick's stats.

He's just not very efficient at running the offense. I'm not saying IT or Jimmer are either but I just think they stay within the system a little bit more where nobody seems to know what the hell Brooks is doing most of the time.

You're right on about the three equally sharing "stupid plays". In my book Brooks since he began starting has subdued his inclinations as a gunner or "chucker" as some have called him. I thought that was a big step for the team's sake and contributed to our improvement and limited success.

i was interested to see it in the stats you offered. And in my perception he has not been the one having the biggest problem with"bad games".

I've been fairly impressed with Jimmer this season. There are things that he does that I hate, and he wasn't my pick .. the trade was terrible blah blah blah. But this is what we have, and what we have may actually become a decent player.

I think it is entirely possible that he can / will replace Marcus Thornton by the trade deadline / this off season. And if you have any doubt about my love for Marcus Thornton you haven't been here long enough. I've defended that guy a million times. I think he's awesome. The thing is, and it's early, but the bench thing hasn't been working to this point. He's got a GOOD long term contract, and he should have some value around the league. He's one of the few players on this team that has value that we can also afford to lose.

These are very basic statistics, but Jimmers per36 numbers this season are better than Thornton's have ever been. He's a better deep shooter, and he's a better play maker. They are both terrible defenders, and because Jimmer has never tasted the starting lineup he seems better suited in a bench role. He makes less money, and he is a player you CAN jerk around, meaning that if there is a night where he only gets 15 or so minutes it will be fine. This wouldn't sit well with MT.

I would like to see Jimmer get a legitimate shot with the starting lineup.

Well said. MT has the contract that a lot of playoff teams needing a good scoring bench guard would want. If we have any player that is expendable (in terms of trade, not release) of any value it is MT. The Kings hopefully can package him and Cisco for a quality bench big-man.

i have the exact same opinion. i love watching a good deep shooter like Peja or Ray Allen. i wanted a different pick (Kemba or Leonard). but he is definitely looking better and better. his first half against GSW was great. i just think they need to play him off the ball more and run screens for him. its when hes dribbling all over the court that i dont like him in the game
