Grades Vs. T'Wolves' 12/04

Well, since Bricky hasn't opened his usuall placeholder thread, I figured I'd give you my brief grades.

Bibby...C...Played a respectable offensive game with 14 points and 5 assists. A mediocre outing deserves a mediocre grade.

Bonzi...D...Just didn't have it tonight. Missed shots, turned it over, wasn't our usually rebounding sparkplug. Not very good tonight.

Peja...C-...4-13 is a slight improvment. Only reason he isn't in the D-/F range again is because he actually rebounded the ball a little bit, with 6.

SAR...C-...
Everything says he should probably have a D-/F, but when you masterfully guard Garnett the way he did, that speaks volumes, and definatly deserves a huge boost into his grade.

Miller...F...
Horrible...No offense at all. He did have 8 rebounds, though. I guess that can redeem...Nevermind...It can't.

Hart...C-...
Just himself...Nothing special...Remind him never to shoot threes again, though.

Cisco...C...Played a part in the attempted comeback in the end. Should really check where he's shooting from, because he has a tendancy to shoot from a foot or two behind the three point line. Passed well again.

Thomas...A...The spark off the bench...Very nicew outing in which he shot nicley, and grabbed some athletic rebounds.

Skinner...B...Came in and provided a much needed spark. May have fought back into the rotation?

Williamson...A...Came in, and made an impact...Between him and Skinner almost fought us back into this game. And as with Skinner, did he possibly gain himself some more minutes?

Martin...INC...Did nothing in a minute.

I won't gradre coach, but much respect to him for actually NOT letting the starters back into the game. The bench tryed to get us back into the game, and he rolled with them. Plus, maybe this little hint of confidence will encourage them, and they'll play better.

I'd say Corliss/Skinner will be playing more now. Hopefully consistently getting PT, too. Keeping the offense going shouldn't be a problem if Brad, or even SAR are in there with one of them or both.

I think Garcia should get at least a B. No matter that he didn't make a few of those 3s, at that point we NEEDED them.

To paraphrase Dave Chappelle, I wish that I had two more arms, so that I could give this team four thumbs down.

Only that scene is much more enjoyable than the one here ... I'm sure you'll agree if you can recall it ;)

I think we need to institute a minimal standards of achievement test. I also propose a "No Player Left Behind" Act. We'll fund it using the proceeds from the fatcats that'll reserve the luxury suites for the new arena that's sure to come any day now.

I'm just disapointed that this game didn't go into overtime. What is a regular season game against Minny that doesn't go to overtime. I thought it was staring to be our tradition.

Peja ( D+ ) -- looked more comfortable out there to start, but then it all went away and after a quick 8 pt burst, he was never heard form again. Showed more spurts of life than he has for the last several games, and his bad night tonight could as easily have been the result of the dreaded Hassel effect, which shut him down even during his halcyon days, as the pinky. In the mid third Rick through up his hands and went with a unique lineup pushing Peja over to OG, where if nothing else he used his size a little bit for few plays. A poor game, but finally did SOMETHING (rebound) and had a few spurts where he looked like himself. Next up LeBron.
Reef ( D+ ) -- 6pts 4rebs on 3-9 shooting should be an easy F right? Well, not so fast this time out, because you look across the asile and you will see Garnett with only 11pts 10rebs on 3-14. Now was that all Reef? No. It almost looked like soemthing was wrong was Garnett. He was not only flat and unispired (looked like a King), he was completley lacking in energyu and mobility. Butr regardless of whatever the story was there, Reef did a nice hjob of just staying between Garnett and the hoop. Not like he was bodying him ouot of positionj and blocking his hsots. But he was just solidly trhere and made KG take defended shots. Shots that he can easily hit, but that he did not tonight. Now Reef obviously did almost nothing else, was smothered on the other end by the Wolves' length, helped us get killed on the glass against the worst rebounding team in the league etc. But before you saw how ugly this game was going to play out you would have said the one thing above all others you wanted to accomplish tongiht was to keep Garnett form taking over. And Reef certainly played a part in one of KGs worst games that I've seen him have. So, not a good grade for 6pts 4rebs, but something just to recognize that he didn't get totally obliterated i there by a former MVP.
Miller ( D- ) -- man, I may be REACHING here to give him the D- tonight. Kandiman took it right at him from the start, and I have to remembber to start any and all of my gfantasy centers on nights when they are going against Brad. And he was completely and totally shut down on offense by KG, and really by himself as well. Garnett harassesd and bothered him, but Brad showed little if any interest in doing anything about it. Gets his lovely D- because he was our only approximation of a rebounder in there until we went to the bench -- second game in a row, and a rare positive development nowadays. In the third began to get really frustratred to go along with his ineffectiveness, and that led to a well-earned but surprising benching in favor of Skinner for the remainder of the game.

You got it wrong

Playing OT agains Wolves is not tradition.

However losing to them at ARCO sure is:(

Bibby - (D-) Didnt do much offensivly and could not keep up with Troy Hudsen.

Wells - (D-) No offense, little defense and didnt get his 8 rebounds

Peja - (F+) Continued his struggle offensivly scoring only 10 pts 4-13 shooting

Miller - (F-) did absolutly NOTHING, could not gaurd Candi man and could not hit wide open shots

Abdur Rahim - (D-) Only give him credit for gaurding KG other then that he couldn't rebound or put points on the scoreboard

Bench - (B-) brought a lot of energy late in the 3rd quarter and slowed the T-Wolves

Bonzi was 4-10 shooting 4 assists 3 steals 9 pts in 26 minutes. That isn't bad offense. What Bonzi did to hurt the team was his 5 turnovers.

SAR's "defense" on Garnett is as much an illusion as Peja's on Dirk. Had more to do with the superstar and help defense pressure than them. It's easy to tell because good defenders are consistent. Not even the top defenders in the league claim to be Garnett stoppers. SAR just got made to look better by the luck of the draw.

And, in other news, the Bobcats just completed choking away a ten-point lead with four minutes to go to the Lakers... meaning that we are officially in last place in the Pacific Division.

Go Kings.

:( Thats not good........

Oh dear.

I guess this completes the circle. We are now back to Dec. 4, 1985.

Our record that night, after a 128-103 loss to the LA Clippers, was 6-13.

And yes, we had sole and firm possession of last place.

It seems like Brad Miller makes the opposing center look like an All Star center. Kandi looked like the number 1 pick that he was.

Disagree, almost, but not totally. SAR consistently played face-up defense on KG and stayed with him and anticipated his moves and had a hand up very near the ball on almost every shot. Most of KG's "off" tonight was SAR doing, not all but darn near. When you play someone that good that close, it is very difficult to rebound and score much. But then again that is what Miller and Bonzi and others are supposed to do.......

Indeed. I was impressed with SAR there.

Reef deserves credit for his D tonight. Of course he stunk it up in every other aspect of the game tonight too!

KG can make that shot with some regularity. I did not see him alter a shot once because of SAR. SAR played good solid defense, he gave Kevin nothing easy. But those were very makeable shots for a player of KGs talent. He just didn't.

Reminded me of Peja's good defensive games -- not shutting his man down. Just not letting him have anything easy or cheap and so letting him dig himself right into a hole. Reef does deserve credit. Just not "KG stopper" type of credit. Just a good sold defensive night (on his man) with few mistakes.

Adelman+bench=A

Starters as a whole=F-

Seriously... Wow... whatever... I give up... Garnett makes his team better even if he's not doing well...

Reef needs to learn how to rebound the damn ball!!!

Brad needs to-be Brad!!!!

Peja needs to- BE TRADED!!!!!

Bonzi-had a bad night

Mike- I dunno, ehhhh

Didn't get to see the first half of the game, was at my little cousin(he's 9 in two days)'s birthday party. Then I found out they had CSN Sacramento... turn on the tv... we're down by infinite...none of the starters are in...I figure they must have pissed off Rick pretty badly, and now that I'm watching the replay I see why. Wally Sczerbiak is a good player, he's not afraid to rebound or dunk the ball!
