Definitely. Though a Larry Nance would probably be ideal next to Cousins.

Nobody in the current NBA that I'd compare Nance to. But a John Henson or Larry Sanders would do.

The guys currently in the league that fit the role and are obtainable is a remarkably short list:

John Henson (concerns about build, offensive role)
Larry Sanders (contract, attitude)
Taj Gibson (might be best fit but will Chicago move him)
Robin Lopez (who we stupidly could have already had)
Maybe Terrence Jones

If we realistically want to add a shot blocking big next to Cousins it's going to be one of these guys or someone we draft. We could always go the defender/thug that doesn't block shots route but we'd have to upgrade defenders in the backcourt to compensate for the lack of a rim protector.

That's why I think our best bet is to draft a rim protector, and try to upgrade our backcourt via trade/free agency.

I'd add Asik to the list. Is he any less mobile than a Sanders or Lopez?

Also, I seem to recall Ed Davis being mentioned as a potential candidate, but have heard a lot less about him this season as he moves into restricted free agency.

He's averaged 3.1 TO/game for his career. That isn't outrageous for a top offensive center. He can cut down on silly turnovers but I hardly think that's keeping the Kings from the playoffs.

Olajuwon: 3.0
O'Neal: 2.8 (but over 3 the early part of his career)
Duncan: 2.5 (but over 3 the early part of his career)
Moses Malone: 3.1

As I said in my post, it's not just the TOs - it's forcing shots, it's forcing the dribble (being a pg). For every "force" there is an opportunity that is missed.

a couple of obervations about the game:
2) DMC lead the team in TO's again tonight. In 5 out of the last 6 games he has had 5 or more TO's. This was done against teams that are not all that great. He leads all Cs and PFs in the league in TO's. In fact, only DHoward is even close. He really needs to address this IMHO.

From watching every game, Cuz gets 2-3 TO's a game from his bull headed approach trying to play through double and triple teams, which don't work most of the time, as he many times could not pass out if he wanted. Kind of a temporary Black Hole. Add to that IT and his TO's from his Bull Headedness and his Black Hole and that is one problem that needs to be solved. True Cuz gets more touches than any C in the league and he is still young and less experienced. But.......

Which is shame even if he's not a high IQ player he has excellent passing instincts and really when he's causing havoc with his passing and offensive rebounding we are at our best imo. I really wish at times he would play more like Z-Bo with good passing.

he's still only in his fourth year. the first with a stable franchise environment, and he'll be here for years, still. he'll get better, the signs he has shown this year are more than encouraging, Cuz will be fine.

If were going to sit around and b---h about what's wrong with the team, why are we ragging on our best player. At least he attempts to pass the ball. If you want him to make better decisions in the post, then get him the ball earlier in the shot clock so he has time for options. There needs to be more ball movement. All I saw in the last game was one isolation play after another. Seldom in any possession are there more than three passes made, and in most there is only two passes. If you keep track of the most creative passes on a nightly basis, you'll find that most of them come from either Cousins or Gay. Most communication on defense comes after the mistake has been made, and not the other way around.

A lot of things need to change before the Kings become a consistently good team. Anyone that doesn't want to buy into the team concept with more than lip service needs to go. We need more players that embrace the word WE instead of ME. I'm trying not to pick on any particular player. We all know who the culprits are. Those players need to either change their approach, or be shipped out.

To be sure there is no one "the problem," with this team. There are many problems. One way to look for problems are to look at the outliers statistically. I have mentioned our biggest outlying statistics are with the SG position. It is just atrocious.

Another outlying statistic is the team TO situation. Only 6 teams in the league turn it over more than us in a game. DMC is a big part of that issue. He leads the team in TO's in fact. He leads all big men in the league in TO's. It is a significant issue.

Seems to me like most of his turnovers come from being stripped when double teamed (and looking for a foul call), not on bad passes. Might be coming from the fact that most other people on our team aren't worth guarding so they just pack the paint and send doubles and triples at Cuz.

Actually I think most of his recent surge has been precisely on bad passes, and I think he has been making bad passes because he's trying to singlehandedly address our passing seizeup. A good many of these turnovers would not be turnovers on a team with ball movement.

Notice should be taken this team discussion that we are starting only 4 players. The SG position is not available to help the other 4 starters do anything positive for the team. A very serious problem in my estimation. Very serious.

I don't know....I knew as soon as I looked at it what that picture of Horry was and I am not even a Kings fan. I was surprised to see it posted on a Kings fan sie by a Kings fan..........

That was a memorable moment in a memorable game right after Divak tipped a rebound out beyond the hands of Lakers near the basket. You have to give credit to Horry for successfully doing it even though at the time I groaned in bitter disappointment. TV coverage on that play was terrific.

He's looked like complete crap this season and he's pretty much maxed out as a player he's not going to get better.
