32-16, a very auspicious start. Just look how much lead the Kings made up before the end. Sorta like a broken record.

Lack of size and defensive intensity was apparent on the Kings guard line from the beginning. The Pistons Guards did what they wanted.

I'm still watching but I am finding more and more reasons to watch it later on the DVR.

Believe it or not, I'm still optimistic. Not about this season of course, but about the future of the team. I just hope I live long enough. If not, I've had my share of victories. But I hunger for one of two more.

I'm optimistic but probably because I do not have high hopes or expectations. I just want things to get back to being good enough where going to games is fun, talking about them here is fun and reading about them the next morning doesn't ruin my whole day.

How many different times and in different ways can you say "this just isn't working"?
Precisely!!!

And then the very next game we get served up with the same crap! The fan see it, analysts see it yet our HoF coach is either blind as a bat or is vindictive, stubborn old bastard.

But it's all Cousins fault, don't you know? If only we had a talented big man...

Cousins had 31 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a blocked shot. But that wasn’t enough to overcome another slow start in which the Kings fell behind by 18 in the first quarter.

But playing for pride in March as they try to ruin the playoff hopes of teams like Detroit is an old, sad refrain.

“I love the game, I love to compete, that’s what drives me every night,” Cousins said. “But to come in season after season and try to stop another team from making the playoffs, that’s old. I want to be in the playoffs.”

“I’m past the point where I even worry about stats,” Cousins said. “I’m just trying to win the game. That’s my main focus; that’s all I can do. Just trying to play my part.”

And from Kings Notes (also by Jason Jones) is this gem from George Karl, as he imitates Jerry Reynolds in drooling over Andre Drummond (who just happens to be 6-11/279):

“I respect the man,” Karl said. “A lot of big guys ... drift outside the paint and find ways to get outside the paint. This kid wants to be right there.”...

...“I love his old-school attitude,” Karl said. “I love him to be in the paint, love him to be on the tip of the rim, love him to get hit and bumped and grind. I mean it’s old school – it’s back to the ’60s almost.”...

...“He’s this big monster that just puts himself in danger,” Karl said. “I don’t know how many times he gets hit in the game. He’s just always moving right to the rim; he’s always fighting for rebounds; he’s always being a good defender.”

I'm really so tired of all this drama. F*** Karl, I believe he's the main reason for the failure of this season. F*** this organization that fired Malone last year. F*** the players too, everyone, because you can't just have no pride, and not care being embarrassed every single night.

I'm watching the Grizzlies game right now. A bunch of unknown players, undrafted, waived, headcases. A team destroyed by injuries. But they are fighting, playing with heart, defending every possession. And they are beating the clippers right now. With our own Hollins and McCollum in the starting 5. That's the kind of team I would like to see every night. Just give me a team that plays hard and has pride, and a coach who knows what defense is.

Really, I can't watch the Kings anymore this season. I'm afraid I reached my breaking point.

Now, is that because their best players are leading the charge?

No.

Is that because the guys doing it haven't been cancers elsewhere? No.

Its because of coaching and institutional culture. They have a successful system, which they matched their coach to, which they matched their players to. They have something to play for, and established expectations. I would say its not magic, but it really is. And its a magic faerie dust you can sprinkle over any group of almost any talent level. They won't beat actual talented teams when it matters without their main guys, but everybody in their organization is on the same page.

Could it be that Tony Allen/Z-Bo/Sir Lance (when healthy) can carry a team filled with D-Leaguers further in the regular season than Cousins/Gay/Rondo?

OMFG! The guy has officially lost his freaking marbles!

So he loves Drummond down low but he doesn't like Cousins down low despite him being virtually unguardable when posting up. Like I said, he has either lost his marbles or he is a vindictive bastard that is doing this to pee of Cousins and those in the front office that are sick of his bullcrap.

Don't let Matt Barnes hear, that you called him a D-Leaguer. He will chase you all the way to Australia ;)

But I agree. It's so much fun to watch the Grizzlies right now. I caught myself smiling i n front of my tv, when Zbo got his triple double and everybody was jumping and celebrating on the Grizzlies bench. And Lance might be an jerk off the court, but the dude is do much fun to watch with his strange street ball like way to play NBA basketball.

Have you noticed how Ray defended Chris Paul? I mean he couldn't take him out of the game, but he gave everything he had and really made him work.

Just put this on tape and force Karl and out players to watch it again and again, because this is how playing defense with pride looks.

Ray is super weird as well when he get's that fade away mid range going it's nearly impossible to contest or stop, Ray had a huge game in the 2nd half at both ends and yeah Z-Bo past his prime schooling the most athletic C in the game and dropping his first career triple double with the bench/crowd reaction was great. If the Grizz can somehow hold onto the 5th seed and get Conley/Hairston/Wright/Anderson(all should be back if they make playoffs) back for the playoffs they could push the Clippers even with Blake.

Lance literally shattered the ankles of Paul/Wes/LRMAM/PP at one point or another the dude imo is very viable when he's dominating the ball I have said in another thread is he's available I would make him the Kings 6th man (at the right price) and let him dominate the ball with the 2nd unit. I also love JaMaycl Green he's there version of Acy except he's better imo.

I did not watch the Grizz game. But Barnes and Lance do have a bone to pick with the Clippers since they were both traded away from there. Either of those two are better than any wing defender on the Kings. So they certainly have the motivation and ability to get after it on defense.

They also have a streak of crazy and nasty. I wonder how the "Cousins is complaining and frowns too much" crowd would enjoy their hijinks?
