We got the 2-2 we needed on the trip in exactly the opposite fashion you would have expected. That's Sacramento Kings basketball.

So Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays as it may apply (or possibly be like a Jewish friend of mine who celebrates Christmas (tree, not mass) just because she likes to receive gifts)!

You just feel like this team is on the cusp of "putting it all together" and winning 8 of 10 or something like that. Does anyone know when WCS is expected back? He should come back in better shape than ever since his injury was on his hand, he can really be that X factor on the defensive end for the second unit. We have won 5 of 7 so you see the signs of something good, just the flat performances against teams we should win are the things that have us scratching our heads. You have to come out and step on the throat of Portland on Sunday.

* 3 kings with double double game (Rondo, DMC & Casspi). One more TO and 2 more REB for Rondo and it wold have been quadriple double...
* Good game by Collison, he was on fire.
* 41 min. for Casspi- he's earned it. The most consistent player on the team, you know exactly what you get from him almost every night.
* Rondo - Collison cooperation was a not bad this game
* Defence has been clearly better in the last 7-8 games. Just this open 3's disease is still there :-/
* I love this team <3

In my view, Vlade put together a good team. I am happy the record is beginning to show that.

so let me get this straight...the Kings beat two 16 win teams and lose to two 11 win teams...makes plenty of sense. Win one, lose one, win one, lose one has been the motto for this short road trip. I hope that doesn't follow suite on the next home stand.

Boogie continues to be unable to shoot any of his jump shots, whatsoever. I am glad he realized he needed to go to the post more frequently, I don't think Karl had anything to do with Cousins being more post oriented in the second half. However, it helps when you are being defended by Jordan Hill/Mahinmi rather than a Marcin Gortat/Dieng.

Rudy Gay has been getting so many wide open three point shots and my god he cannot buy one. I don't understand how all of a sudden he can't hit any of them. Maybe I thought he was a better three point shooter than the numbers indicate, could be.

I miss Trill...even if he only plays 15 minutes. Seeing someone out there who can defend pick and rolls and alter some shots around the rim is what's missing, severely.

Nice win Kings. I like seeing a .500 road trip for once, but those L's to Minnesota and Washington leave a bitter taste. We could have really made up some ground on our overall road record and the other West teams. This team needs to stop going into coast mode when they face a team they feel they're superior to. Stay consistent. That's been the theme of the season.

With 2 point lead and 8 seconds left it is so smart by Rondo to foul with one foul to give making the Pacers in-bound with 4.4 seconds. This increased our odds to win game or avoid OT by 50%. Rondo let as much time go off the clock then fouled before player got into shooting position. It doesn't seem like a big deal but I haven't seen many guards in Kings history have the presence of mind to do this. Instead of 1-2 passes and a shot or shot and offensive put-back, with 4 seconds there was only time for 1-2 dribble or 1 pass shot and no offensive rebound like we saw.

I don't know how Rondo was credited by 9 TOs because it didn't seem that way. But he has been getting risky with the throw ahead pass on the break. He needs to be more judicious when he throws the TD pass to avoid interception.

Fantastic first quarter by Rondo but I was not pleased at all with the rest of his game. His turnovers after halftime nearly cost the Kings the game and his defense was very bad. I've seen him several times just hanging in the paint, not rotating AT ALL and giving the Pacers wide open threes.

That being said, great win for the Kings. Merry Christmas everyone !

Great win that really puts that talent on this team for display. There's no doubt that with a few tweaks this team is capable of making the playoffs, and not just from the 8th seed.

One observation about leaving 3 point shooters open - it seems to me that Rondo and Casspi are so in love with rebounding, that they both care more about getting a good rebound position than sticking to their man. They each have above average rebounding numbers for their position, but I doubt this "tactic" adds up to more wins. Whatever we gain by getting more possessions is lost with the opponents making more 3 pointers and at a better clip.

Ben also wanders in the paint instead of sticking to his man, but with him it looks like he's trying to help the bigs defend, which is definitely a bad idea unless he's defending a guard incapable of shooting threes, like Shaun Livingston. There are very few of those in the NBA so it really shouldn't happen so often.

This is the only time I can remember that the 3-guard roster didn't lose the game for the Kings.

Rondo's 1st quarter was near-perfect, and made up for Cousins getting nothing going. IIRC the first 6 possessions were 2 missed shots by Boogie, 2 TO's by Boogie, 2 made shots by Boogie set up by Rondo.

I am wondering if Rondo focuses too much on those triple-doubles, because he seems to hang out in the paint a LOT in the 2nd halfs when he gets near a triple-double.

I hope one day this team gets to a point where they stomp on the other team in the beginning of the third and make this a blowout. instead they get lost on rotations, allow their shooters to get a groove and the Pacers make up eleven points in less than three minutes. I was...peeved.

On the bright side, in previous seasons when the other team went on that run you could be 100 percent certain we would lose the game. Not so much anymore.

Didn't get a chance to watch the game, but read both Bee articles about it this morning. Could someone give me a brief rundown of how Collison and Rondo played together last night? It looks like from the article, Karl is essentially determined to play them together, and while they're still at a -2 or something on the court together, they have improved recently.

How did they look together? Is it looking like they're getting more comfortable playing alongside one another, or did they basically just take turns and continue to negate each other?
