I always believed WCS would thrive both offensively and defensively with Karl
He reminds me of a 7 foot Faried running the break

Small ball is so successful these days the bigman was phased out because team defense became better
Smallball is successful because there is a dearth of dominant bigs in the league. A dozen years ago you had Shaq, Duncan, and even Vlade/CWebb to a lesser degree. Guys that could play with their back to the basket and destroy teams that tried to play small. Remember the early 2000's Dallas Mavs with Nowitzki, Nash, Finley, and Marion? That team was just as talented as this current Warriors team is, but couldn't beat the Lakers, Spurs or Kings (when healthy). This Warrior team wouldn't be able to play small against those Lakers, Spurs or Kings teams either because those bigs would shoot 60+% every game AND get to the line a lot. And if they went with a big to matchup, they aren't near as good and would still get eaten up inside.
Boogie and Karl Anthony-Towns are 2 bigs that can combat the recent smallball trend if they are utilized correctly and surrounded with the right mix of talent. They can be used to punish small teams inside over and over until the smaller team simply has to adjust. A big shooting 60% and getting double-digit FTA's will beat a team shooting 40% on 3's.
Post-ups take time to set up, and they lead to tough 2-point shots in traffic. Referees let point guards flit around unfettered, but the paint remains a war zone where brutality can trump skill. Legalized zone frees help defenders to sandwich dangerous post-up threats. “The reason the post-up doesn’t work anymore is that teams just front now,” Karl says. Help defenders can drift from their assignments to prevent a lob pass over that front, forcing the defense to whip the ball elsewhere.
Well what have we got here? 9-6 in our last 15 games. FIRE KARL
He turned the offense over to Rondo, makes sense why we are winning now.![]()
It is great to see competitive, entertaining basketball again.
I have no problem criticizing DMC when it is due. I also have no problem giving him a standing O when he goes beast mode like he has the past 2 games. It is seriously elite stuff.
I love what I saw on this road trip. I am hoping for 5-2 or even 6-1 in the next 7 games.
Lock up Cousins-Rondo-WCS-Casspi and Karl for an extended period
Obviously see out this season, but that core 4 is rock solid... Complimentary players is an understatement.
Great game by Cuz and the big 3 in general, it's crazy we outplayed two good teams back to back by outworking them.
Also wtf is it going to take not to play Marco when he's not hitting shots i mean even Grant at one point was basically saying why is he in the game.

Say what? It's not even close... You do realize the Warriors are the second best defensive team in the league and only trailing the Spurs, who are on a historically good pace right now.
The competition isn't between small ball and traditional big man ball, th competition is to win games using the tools you have. Coaches might be smarter than we think.
Stats: 39min 48pts (17-29, 1-2, 13-20) 13reb 2ast 1stl 0blk 5TO
Summary:I can't believe we haven't dumped this cancer on anyone who will take him yet. First center since Shaq in '03 to score 48.
Cousins ( A+ ) -- just another boring night at the office, so let's talk numbers. 48 is the third most points every scored by a King in the Sacramento era. Webb had 51, Kevin 50, now Cuz 48. The thing is, both those other totals took OT. Cuz's 48 ties Kevin for the most ever in a regulation game in the 30 years of Sacto history. ...Now for the bad stuff: he got a TECHNICAL!!! He got a technical, and I was so embarrassed for the team, the fans, the city, the nation, and really the whole human race that I ran over next door and put my hands over the eyes of my neighbor's kids. He got a technical, and that made the MVP! chants raining down in the final minutes in incredible bad taste. MVPs don't get technicals -- they kiss bunnies and hug fluffy rainbows.
Are you kidding me? Bels is a liability when he's not hitting his shots and the other teams have noticed. Time for Karl to adjust. Look how long it took Karl to accept WCS in the role that he's now in. It wasn't about WCS becoming a different (or better) player, it was about Karl making the necessary adjustments so he could (finally) give WCS the minutes. Karl may be a genius, but he's also a little slow to adjust at times. When Bels and Casspi are clearly not hitting their shots, give Curry and Acy a chance to help the team. Their energy is infectious.Bellinelli is part of a team that is 5-0 and you think now is the time he should be benched? Come back when he loses games for us. In the meantime leave it to the coach.

Karl is definitely not slow to adjust. He gets criticized either way. He's played a hell of a lot of different lineups.

Marco came into the NBA a pretty decent athlete (very decent) with solid 2 guard size and he was crap on defense than as well so I don't belevie it's as much a physical issue as some are making out. There's a number of poor athletes who play defense well/at a acceptable level it's clearly a effort/desire thing. You would think someone with his experience and basketball iq would be at worst slightly below average rather he's rock bottom.Thing is, a player missing shots is not something you "adjust". All players go through cold stretches, and you can't make it a precedent that you bench guys when that happens, or else it has team-wide confidence effects. Marco is a great shooter. He's one of the best in the game. He's not physically gifted on defense, which is his problem, not really effort. So no, you don't bench a vet with championship experience, recent 3 pt. contest champ, perennial great shooter, because of a five game cold streak.
