This loss makes my vacation record now stands at 2-1, bu the level of play in this one was right up there with the two previous games/wins, so my record for well played games is 3-0. Keep it up guys. Next game vs. the Lakers will be parti .

Important game to really show we're starting to turn the corner. We've taken inferior teams (Wizards, Portland, Sixers, Minny is debatable) for granted and not shown up with the right mind-set to beat those teams. Easy to get up for better teams like OKC or the Mavs; we need to show that we no longer choke away wins that should be ours.

Also, it's the MFin' Lakers.

Anything less than a blowout win, I'm considering a loss.

Everyone on the team gets an A+ as far as I'm concerned with how they handled is loss.

Cousins and Karl evolved in a big way last night. DMC's composure and grit paired with Karl's masterful late game play calling. . . My God. I also saw a fire in Rudy's eyes I don't think I've ever seen in his career. Marco looked like vintage Peja coming off screens like a maniac. We play like that every night, look the hell out. We will shock a lot of teams. I'll say it again. All we got to do is find a way to get to the dance. This team has had to overcome more adversity than any team in the league the last couple years and it's not even close. I think this edge will play a big part in our success. Go Kings.

I have long hated the idea of defenses being able to use "fouls", who's only purpose is to help an offense overcome defensive cheating, against the offense.

Its why I hate the Hack a Whoever. Its against the whole spirit of the game.

Its why they put in the breakaway foul rule.

And I really wish they would restore balance by simply giving the offense the ability to wave off a foul they don't want to receive. These fouls where the refs enforcing them actually damages the offense isn't right. Who cares if Belinelli gets run over? The only reason we, the offense, would care is if it caused us to miss a shot. Ironically by enforcing it, it did cause us to miss a shot.

That's why soccer is such a great sport! "Play on!"

What the NBA should do is look at the NFL. On certain plays, the ref would just say to the camera "Personal foul on Dirk Nowitzki. Basket by DeMarcus Cousins is good, penalty is declined".

Totally agree with you there. I don't get why they don't do it the way its called in soccer. Let the basket count and maybe call a foul on the player afterwards. Its working with and-ones as well. Why make a difference based on whether the offensive player has started his shooting motion or not?

American football doesn't allow defensive penalties to wipe out positive plays either. They can choose to decline the penalty and take the result of the play. Basketball should do the same.

The ticky tacky fouls Dirk got early on were pathetic. The no call on the offensive foul on Collison was a disgrace to the game. How does the league get away with this kind of bull****?

Oh and let's not forget the 4 point play they took off the board against us. What the hell was that???
They would have never reviewed that crap if it was Dirk taking the shot and not DeMarcus. The cards were stack against Sacramento the second that ball went up tonight. Games like these that really make me hate the NBA.
Well. Yes....
*see Lakers given our Western Champs banner back in the day.

without rajon rondo, omri casspi, and willie cauley-stein, on the road, on the second night of a back-to-back, with the refs fairly consistently working against them when the game was on the line, the kings still managed to send it into double-overtime, where they only lost by a single point due to a tremendously lucky off-balance three at the buzzer. as far as moral victories go, this is about as good as it gets...

unfortunately, the kings really need to offset those losses to teams they should have beaten with some unlikely wins. last night's game against the mavericks certainly would have qualified. it definitely stings to know that it was right there for the taking...

darren collison has been disappointingly bone-headed all season long, and while i'm not in the "trade him!!" camp, i'm completely bewildered by his level of play; when the kings hired george karl, collison seemed like the most obvious beneficiary of the uptempo style that karl favors. he needs to round into form sometime soon...

no lead is safe, ever. Can't really complain about anything here, even with 10 Cousins turnovers, he had no PG out there really so he was trying to initiate offense more than usual. I have to hand it to the guy, for the second straight game, he just went out there, shut his trap and dominated on the court. This needs to be norm for the rest of the season. I'm still not ready to get too excited here, they need to prove they will start showing up against teams that aren't in the playoffs and/or competing for a position. Whooping on the Lakers would be a good start and not let them hang around.

These exercises by the NBA to try to legitimize their blatant biases and inconsistency never fail to pee me off.
They appear to break things down and confirm on-court rulings, but they still contain the oversights and biases and incorrect determinations of the original calls.
(BTW - notice how almost none of the calls have any replays or other angles shown?)

Zaza quite clearly fouls Boogie on the drive at the end of regulation-
His arm plows into Cousins' upper body and arm during the shooting motion. It has nothing to do with his body position. There is no body position which allows a defender to reach across and through a shooter. He very clearly is not in a straight, vertical body position. This is a foul most of the time if it's on a star guard making the same play. But the NBA for some weird reason doesn;t protect big men during shots the way it does guards. Wonder why?

And as Chubbs mentions, what's the point of releasing something that says Nowitzki's forearm shove to Collison's throat to clear space is actually a legal play?
Everyone knows that's complete BS.
They have eyes, and can see the illegal move, regardless of what the NBA is making up to justify their ref's accuracy.

Again, at :12 left in OT, if that's a clean strip by Zaza on Cuz, then the NBA had better take away all the fouls it calls on guards who get fouls when anyone even breathes on their arms.
And seriously, if Cousins is fouling DWill's body as he shoots at 4:08 of 2OT, then stick a fork in the NBA cause everyone would foul out in the 1st qtr. Cuz fouled him when he reached by, not with his fingers barely brushing along his back as he drove to the basket, and that's what the call (and pdf mention) was for.

The pdf reads like a copy-paste of "Pachulia (DAL) maintains legal guarding position and cleanly strips the ball from Cousins (SAC)."
Seriously, how is it possible for Zaza's hands to be perfectly psychic, and cleanly strip Cuz so many times back-to-back-to-back?

They actually bothered to state that Anderson and Dirk didn;t foul each other on the rebound attempt, but didn;t mention that Dirk should have been T'd up at LEAST once for his excessive arguing and gesticulating right in the refs face.
Similarly, the pdf never mentions Carlisle being on the frigging court, even during the last play - the ref even declines to call the whistle, and during the play has to take his eyes off the action to physically push/motion Carlisle off the floor!

The pdf never mentions or refers to replays which show whether DWill hit Collison on either of his air-balls in the last 35 seconds of the game.

In reality, the NBA is impossible to referee because the amount of physical contact in every play can be called a foul - it just matters what the result or the reaction is that determines whether many fouls are called. It is inherently inconsistent.
For example, every single battle in the paint for position can be called a foul, if the other person flops on contact. (See Nowitzki vs Cousins at :56 remaining in OT - if either player had flopped the opposite direction of the pushes, it would have "forced" a foul call)
The NBA is always going to have this problem as long as they call fouls based on reaction, instead of actual contact or rules compliance.

I just finished the game. A really amazing playoff style game. I loved how this team competed being short handed and taking some bad calls too. First thing Zaza did was run down the court and knock Cousins to the floor. Ya the refs called a foul but so what, really. But it is legal to do and that is what zaza did many times during the game. Foul with a purpose. Zaza fouled two people on one play and took three points off the board. Thanks refs. That is justice! Even so the Kings and Cousins never let it rattle them. They fought hard to the end. If they keep that up things will come around for them. Incredible game and I hope the Kings don't get down by this. This was playoff atmosphere experience. All good in my eyes.

Well it was a great game. It just again reinforces what the Kings Players and Fans already knew. Never leave a game in the hands of the Refs.
