Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Ok, you all know what this means.
BTW, don't be surprised if we get hit by a lawsuit from DeMarcus tommorow for non-support. He was amazing after half again and if the rest of the team wasn't too busy bricking open shots and making moronic plays who knows, maybe we even make it a little interesting. Looking forward to Reke being back on Monday. Hopefully the rust dripping off of him isn't too thick -- Cisco + Jimmer and Outlaw tonight combined for 50min 13sec of action, and produced 0pts on 0-13 shooting combined.

Salmons ( C+ ) -- there were probably danger signs from the beginning of this one for us, as we hung close in the early going despite not playing a speck of defense largely on the back of John Salmons saying "DeMarcus who?" and gunning Kobe style. Hit three early threes, then started going 1 on 1 If he were actually capable of emotion or expression, he would have probably been taunitng his opponents -- come on, you want some of this? Do ya? No you don't! Bam. Just scoring and scoring and we needed all of it. But to say that is not sustainable is an understatement. Mojo was broken by the quarter break, and after missing a silly 1 on 1 heat check attempt to start the 2nd our first quarter superstar went churchmouse quiet and never scored again in the entire game. Missed the open three at the end of the third we needed to have, and didn't get much else accomplished either. When the ascoring dries up, and the assists aren't there, the nightly 2 rebs form the SF spot gets less amusing. Always tough to grade these "A" first quarter, nothing rest of game things.

Thompson ( C ) -- here was Salmons running mate int eh early going to help keep it close. As usual it was little jumpers, scoring off the ball, cleaning up misses. And again, in kind of the sugar rush of the first quarter where we did none of the hard work, but were on a scoring sugar high it kept us kinda in the ballpark. But the longer the game went along, the more obvious it was how empty the early numbers were. In Jason's case it came down to this: he's too nice. He's like a nice polite suburban kid who grew up playing by the rules, and he got thrown in there with a dirty mud grubbing cheap shot artist of a junkyard dawg in Reggie Evans, and it was kinda embarrassing watching him get worked, thrown around, elbowed, arm barred, pushed, pulled, banged, bruised...and all he could think to do was whine to the refs about how unfair the big meanie was being as he got his *** just handed to him on the glass. Had one rebound the entire night until the very end of the garbagetime. Never did get a defensive rebound. I mean, the position is called POWER forward Jason. Man the **** up. If he elbows you, elbow him back harder. Punch him. I don't care. its what he wants you to do, but at least you are fighting back.

Cousins ( A- ) -- another big night for Boogie. But really it wasn't a big first half. In fact during the early part of this game he was largely invisible and looked unsure of how he wanted to attack Reggie Evans, who was spending most of the time guarding him. Nor was he effective the other way where he was acutally getting outscored by Evans early, which isn't easy. But as the half wore on he started to pop up every one in a while with a nice move, and by the end of the half he at least had 10 points, albeit non-impact points. Lat eint eh half there was a winceworhty incident when he and Brooks ran the break, and Brooks appeared to take the layup attempt himself selfishly rather than try to dump it back to Cousins as the trailer. He missed, Cuz grabbed the folow rebound and finished it with a big slam, but he also screamed at Brooks "pass the ****ing ball!" loud enough to clearly be heard through much of the arena I would think. Appeared to man up in a major way at halftime. Too bad none fo the rest of the team did. But Cuz came out strapped on for the thrid quarter, and he at least was going to match and then some the Nets phsyical play, and he turned in a bigtime 3rd quarter again. Hit a jumper or two, but mostly used quickness ot drive aorudn the Nets bigs, used those great hands to snatch wobbly pasases from teammates and finish them, dropped a beautiful crossover dribble to tblow by Lopex in the mid third, and was accepting the physical challenge as he was the only Kings starter noit wearing lace panties on the boards. By the early 4th the Netsd were actually TRIPLE teaming him, and why not given how many bricked open looks and dumb plays the rest of the team were piling up. Going to stick wiht the "-" here because of the slow start/too little too late aspect, but this was extremely impressive again. No other center in the league can do some of these things Boogie is showing. But just has to stay clear of conflicts wiht teamamtes or any of that other nonsense. Gets reke back Monday.

Garcia ( F ) -- Okay..the bloom is off this Rose and then some. Tyreke, get your *** back on court. Cisco started the game with an assist to JT for our very first score. And that was quite literally the highlight of his entire evening. Just missing and missing his jumpers, no points, no rebounding. Eveyrtime we needed a shot and it was him it was a foregone conclusion we weren't getting points out of it. Got some help defense in the late garbagetime minutes, but far too little too late to save such an empty game from the ultimate grading indignity.

Thomas ( C ) -- no control over Deron in the early going, and no control of pace as the Nets were jsut scoring every single bleeping time. Kept forcing attempts in the third as he began to go 1 on 1. But hey, may even have been the right play given way things were going. Not sure why Boogie did not scream at him too however. Just got the ball taken from him to start the 4th as we squandered multiple chances to make a game of this by bad plays scattered up and down the roster. Not awful with a few tough hits, but emptyish. Got the feeling he did everything the Nets wanted him to do for most of the game.
