Don't Make Me Use The Bat

I can remember times when Roman has admonished Reef's play. In fact, the hand full of Reef fans on this board have all admonished Reef's play when it has been deserved. He played solid tonight and you got to give credit where credits due.
Given the high percentage of your own posts about the topic I am sure that you have a similar idea of "admonishment" -- i.e. being mad at the Great One for not dominating as he obviously should and showing all the unbelievers out there. How could you Reef?

A lot of us give credit when Reef has a good game, as tonight. What we don't do is waste our lives fretting about the fortunes fo an 11pt 6reb backup PF who used to be overhyped back in the 90's. Good game Reef, but the Derrick Coleman, Vin Baker, Shawn Kemp career arc isn't terribly sexy.

Muss ( B ) -- Turnabout is fair play so they say. Reminded me of the Chicago game early in the season. Hope this one has more of a lingering effect. Muss was swapping in all kinds of players in in the first half, but this tiem the results were decent. Got several good performances off the bench, and one in particular (Reef) returned to play a key role down the stretch. One way or the other he also got some strong physical defensive performances on Boozer and utilized some good matchups -- stubby power players in Corliss and Artest capable of holding their ground. Utilized a wuick quick very aggressive timeout to open the second half -- all of 45 seconds into the half after the Jazz opened the half scoring the first two baskets. Unfortunately it did not work in the least and a few minutes later we were down by 12. His substitution patterns remain a mystery, but down the stretch he got the important basics right as Mike, Ron and SAR were leaned upon to make this thing happen, and they got it done. So overall a good win. Somehow oddly predictable despite the seeming mismatch. And I certainly suspect that over on the Jazz boards they are talking about how crappy theyb played down the stretch as they gave it to us. But at least we shwoed enough spirit to hangclose enoguh to be in position to steal it, and the reappearance of clutch Bibby could be an important turning point for us. Of course the question being turning point to what?
I'm watching the 4th quarter. I have to admit to being very happy with Musselman for calling the time out after watching 1:27 minutes of pure crapola.

I can see that Reef had a great game. My point is why was Bibby's horrible play being singled out when the whole team didn't seem to play well all throughout the game except for, as you said, Shareef.

I don't want to argue or anything because I did not get to watch the game. It's just very curious as to why Bibby is singled out. It sounds like the whole team was playing well/ok but Bibby's been dragging them down.
The way I saw it was that Bibby is the point guard, he generally has the ball in his hands, and has an opportunity to dictate the action. He has been taking quick shots without letting offensive plays develop, and I saw some of that in the first 3 qtrs. When Mike does this he severely hinders the team's ability to compete. It's on Mike one way or the other, when he plays within the offense I appreciate him. But, for much of tonight's game I liked Price better.

But - and here's the main thing - Ronnie Price is not going to be able to lead this team back into anything remotely resembling contention. Mike Bibby is our floor general, good or bad. If you're a Kings fan, you have to hope he can get his game going again, because if he doesn't, we're screw-ed.

There are problems with this team right now. Reef and his role off the bench is not one of them. Sure he could get 20 points a game if that was his role, but I think he gives us a huge advantage against other teams when he comes off the bench.

Well, I suspect we are screwed because Mike has spent the whole year making bad decisions for some unknown reason. We may as well be allowing the young guys to develop while we hope for a resurgence of Mike.

My theory is that you only tolerate good generals...when they become bad generals they need to be set aside very quickly. I have also noticed that when the light turns yellow, it almost always turns red right after, I've actually never seen it turn green after yellow.

Based on the contract opt-out possibility, and Bibby's head, I see a yellow light.

I hope I'm wrong, by the way. Bibby has given us all some great times, in the past.

Well, watching the final 5 minutes of the game, Mike Bibby was HUGE in leading the team back from a 16-point deficit. The game speaks pretty much for itself.

tomorrow will provide us with a chance for an objective assessment. If Mike decides to show up for the last 5 minutes of that one, we will likely be down by 30. It will be interesting...no place to hide, that's for sure. I do hope he has a good game and we win.

Based on your posting history, I don't know that I believe that.
well, I hope any comments I've made have been objective and based on actual events. If I have said anything like "Mike Bibby Sucks Buttermilk", I apologize...I would prefer to have said "Mike Bibby's performance and decision making sucks Buttermilk", as they surely have. I really apologize if I've been mud slinging, the play of this team has occasionally lacked apparent effort and coherence and it has probably been enough to move me off center.

Thanks for the wake up call.

I'm going to give Kenny Thomas an S... For S (well you know the rest) attitude. Never seen a guy so bitter after the Kings came back from such a huge win. Reef with an A+... Normally I would have freaking gone ballistic if he took that shot in that situation. But he made it, so it kind of makes it all better. Let's see if the trade Mike stuff stops now. I hope Mike can use this to get his confidence back.

If you're talking about around here, you know how it is. Mike has the target on his back right now... with Kenny Thomas close behind. It seems there always has to be one player to point fingers at.

Just skimmed the grades, it seems more like 4th qtr grades then real grades of the entire game.

We again and this was evident with RA, we were horrible in the 3rd QTR. While in the end we won, I see no A's ... Wait Ronnie maybe one of the few I would give an A too.

Price ( B- ) -- good first half stint when he picked us up on both ends of the floor. Hit a three and drew a foul on one end, was pesky at the other. Unfortunately got a little wild in his second half stint, with several "almost" great plays gone wrong -- drives that rolled out, an attempted block that turned into a goaltend AND a foul etc. End redult was him getting himself sent to the bench in favor of a few minutes of Jason Hart before Mike rode to the rescue down the stretch.
That 3-point play was not fun, but I must say, that I was, once again, agog at that kid's hops. I could not believe how high he got up there for the block, er....goal tend. I mean he went stratospheric!
