why didnt lue or wright play?

Have not played yet. Lue I think we are trying to peddle for a pick. Wright...may never play. This year's Potapenko, and behind Brad/Hawes/Mikki/Sheldon, not to mention when we swing Ron to PF.

The more interesting development is the instant rebenching of Douby behind Anthony Johnson. Part of that is because Theus just doesn't get it about his job as a rebuilding coach being to develop kids, but part too because Douby is not and never will be a PG. Kid needs a new address when a fresh off a trade 33yr old journeyman instantly benches him.

Lue is injured - pulled a calf muscle in the first practice here, I think.

Ah, yes:

Lue injured – Point guard Tyronn Lue got off to a rough start with his new team, straining his left calf in his debut Kings practice Monday night and sitting out against Portland.
He is considered day-to-day.
Lue, a 10-year veteran who has played with five teams, has been injury-prone the last two seasons. He can ill afford to miss much more time, as he will be a free agent this summer and is certainly hoping to prove his worth in the season's final 30 games.

I don't know that he stinks, but I will agree that he doesn't smell particularly fresh - even if he is the intangibles man. His stats have never impressed, with the possible exception of his shooting percentage. But if you don't count the put-backs and dunks, I doubt his jumpers are anything better than 40%.

I suspect that he will continue losing minutes as the season progresses and as Reggie will want to play Williams and Hawes increasingly.

BTW, it looked to me (last night) that Sheldon Williams and Ron Artest are just about the same height. So if anyone is holding onto the notion that Williams is 6'9, you can get over it now.

You just might want to take Lasik up on that offer. It is really hard to tell a players height by comparing him to another player on television. My friend was at the game last night and he said Shelden was the same size as Josh Smith. I think Josh Smith is 6' 10". But like I said before, size means nothing if you have talent and the ability to use it effectively.

Smith is 6'8".

And unfortunately probably so is the Mayor. ;)

I strongly suspect Theus may have been told to give AJ some minutes to see if he has anything left they can parlay into someone else or if they just lose him at the end of the year. But that's just a guess on my part.

Doubt Reggie was hired with that suggestion, or he accepted the job with that implicit understanding. Also, so far, there is no indication from management, that they want to lose games at the cost of developing players. Signing Miki and not giving away Artest seems to indicate that. Bibby trade is the first indication of a true rebuild, but that too helps us little in the short term (except allowing us to resign Beno without going over the LT next year).

All indications so far are that Petrie is targeting the summer of 2010, and in the mean time, shall try to field a competitive team (which in the West translates to not good enough to make the PO, and not bad enough to land a high pick). As fans, we may disagree with the approach, seeth in anger or vent our frustrations on these boards, but have little choice in accepting it.

I was speaking in gerneal terms. Theus is of course being selfish, as many young coaches are at some point. What's good for his future does not match what is good for ours. But if he is actually as big of an idiot about rebuilding as our front office then we are well and truly screwed until somebody new buys the team and cleans house. Unfortunately of course said housecleaning would likely come in Anaheim, so that is little comfort.

Now that the deadline has gone without us being unable to unload any of the expirings we got from Bibby deal, here hoping, that we waive them, and sign some kids like Nick Fazekas, and bring back JW and Dahanty. It shall cost the Maloofs some dough, but shall be a good step towards rebuilding.

makes sense. but how do you think theus would explain mikki moore and his 25 minutes a game?

I'd say Reggie is doing a decent job trying to bring along the young guys while trying to win games at the same time. Hawes and Williams seem to be getting time thus far and I don't believe the benching of Quincy is a permanent thing. From what Reggie said I'd say he understands and wants to develop the young guys but feels he has a responsibility to the fans to try and win games so he's trying to find a balance. Its only been 2 games since the trade, I think he'll find a way to get Quincy on the court a little more.

Well, I'm a fan, and I'm not interested in seeing over the hill enders playing on this team. I keep hearing this theme that they are playing guys like Johnson for the fans, but based on this board I certainly do not see a lot of fans gung ho about playing him. If Reggie is interested in fan opinion, then maybe he should visit this board to get an idea of fan opinion.
