Hollins ( INC ) -- Hollins was an empty body on the floor for six minutes prior to garbage time. This game was not about Hollins, and I'm not terribly keen on worrying about whether he brought anything to the "team" during garbage time. No grade.--Capt.

Cousins ( F ) -- 2014 is finally done, and oddly enough, it feels like 2012 all over again. Cousins regressed two years on the basketball court today. It was a day of frustration, both for Cousins and for Kings fans. Some of Cousins' frustration still stems from the recent firing of Michael Malone. Much of his frustration today stemmed from a 1-9 shooting start in the first quarter, where he missed six rough-and-tumble shots in the lane and felt like he was fouled multiple times. Give the Celtics credit - they hacked and beat at Cousins, and he lost his cool. It started with a noticeable decline in effort, even halfway through the first quarter, and it culminated in Cousins' first ejection of the year partway into the fourth. I don't think there's any question that this was Cousins' worst game of the season, not just for his shooting performance, not just for his lackluster defense, but also for his leadership. As our undisputed best player, Cousins has the responsibility to lead the team. And have no doubt about it, Cousins led the team tonight. He led the team by complaining to the officials. He led the team by giving a pathetic effort on defense. He did a very good job of combining these two, missing several defensive possessions because he was at the other end of the floor worrying about why a foul wasn't called. He led the team by giving in to his frustration. And he led the team by throwing an opponent to the floor, getting himself ejected not only from this game, but perhaps suspended for another (my speculation based on how egregious the foul was). And the team effort in this game followed his lead. This is the kind of leadership that just a month ago we thought was in the rear-view mirror for good. Unfortunately, we were wrong. Many will want to point the finger at the front office and excuse Cousins, but I will not be one of them, however badly the front office has screwed this up. Cousins is not only a grown man, he is also a professional basketball player, and he has the responsibility to be mature and to play his best through adversity, whatever that adversity is. After the last game, Cousins was quoted in the locker room calling out his teammates for their lack of persistence through adversity. It was the right thing to say, but as we all know, actions speak louder than words. Cousins wants to know which of his teammates he can go into the trenches with - and after this game, many of his teammates may have the same questions about him. Let me mince no words. This team cannot succeed with 2012 Cousins on the court. If there is to be any hope in this season, Cousins needs to be the 2014 version of himself in 2015. It is now on him to be that player, and more importantly, to be that man. It is up to him to make or break our season, and before too long we will see what he is made of. --Capt.

McLemore ( C- ) -- 19 min, 12 pts with two 3’s, 5 reb and a steal. Grade could be lower buy Ben and Nik just don’t get enough touches. In teams first 6 possessions Ben had 0 touches!! Has been the Rudy/Boogie show so far all 1-on-1. Finally, Ben gets feed driving down lane but fouled and makes 2. At 6:49 Ben gets side feed in transistion for quick pop for 3. Kings only down 2. But gets 2nd foul at 6:15 and heads to bench. Doesn’t get back in until 7:09 of 2nd period when he makes side 18 ft 2. Gets 3rd foul at 6:46 mark of 2nd period then out for Nik again. In first half Kings have 6 ast and 10 TOs, thats the way the game is going. When Cuz and Rudy in game, no real passing most of the time, lots of 1-on-1, no real motion in game. In combined 24 min Ben in for total 6 min in first half and Nik in for 18 min but Nik took only 3 shots missing all 3 for total of 6 points between them. Whereas, Cuz and Rudy play 38 min in half taking 20 shots for total of only 12 points. 3rd Ben hits a 3 from side on pass from Rudy. Then another good passing sequence to Ben for 3 that misses but Kings down 15. Grant & Jerry discussing how Ben’s shot look so much better this year, more in control, better form and he with more confidence. Ben bringing ball inbouds but quick time out as confusion on court. Then shot clock violation. 6:32 mark of 3rd Ben gets 4th foul in only 12 min of play. McCallum replaces. My old industrial league team in LA and without a coach in the late 60’s played more organized than current Kings and we won half our games too. Late in 3rd down 8 but this has smell of blowout coming. Celts started hitting 3’s in latter half of 3rd building lead to 16. Ben starts 4th with Landry and Evans. Lead quickly up to 18 for Celts. Kings with more TO’s than Ast again whereas Celts have 27 ast and only 10 TO’s. Ben just not getting any touches as Rudy is 4 of 19. Ben gets reb drives down for FT line pull up but misses. Second reb next poss but throws away on transistion. Gets a touch on side, drives but fouled, shoots makes 2/2. Replaced by Nik at 4:47 mark of 4th. --Cruz

Landry ( B ) -- Landry apparently did not get the memo from the front office that the Kings were supposed to phone it in tonight. Maybe he doesn't have a twitter. In any case, Landry had a nice, efficient night from the floor with a number of scrappy put-back scores from offensive rebounds, some good work from mid range and even had a couple of very nice defensive plays with some surprising blocks. He did get killed on the boards as the Landry/Evans frontcourt continues to be too short to grab rebounds.Part of Landry's best play was during a brief period when he was on the floor with Cousins. When Landry was no longer having to worry about boxing out a seven footer, he was able to get good position on the boards, and even rotate effectively to stop interior play for Boston. He also had the luxury of shooting over Brandon Bass and Jared Sullinger during those periods, neither of which are very threatening on the defensive end. Seriously, if PDA is reading these forums, you absolutely must get a real center to play behind Cousins. Landry is actually a good power forward who is being forced to play Center. That has to stop. --Hadlowe

Stauskas ( C- ) -- His offense was a D grade but his defense was a C, the minus for making rookie mistakes. But not enough touches for a 2 guard. Nik gets in @ 6:15 of 1st when Ben gets 2nd foul. Celts up 17-9. Good passing for moment to Nik for quick shot, fouled, makes 1 of 2. Kings finally playing team ball last few minutes but soon quits. Nik playing good def, staying with his guy, contesting shot. Then multiple possessions of Rudy 1-on-1 full court but not points. Nik starts 2nd quarter as does Cuz and Landry, who blocks a layup, and DWill who leads a slow break 1-on-1 for 2. Next possession, Nik side floater off glass misses. Another Nik 3 misses but had time and form. At 7:09 of 2nd Ben and Omri in, Nik and Landry out but Ben quickly gets 3rd foul and is replaced by Nik @ 6:46 mark of 2nd. Kings very dysfunctional, no sets, poor spacing. One bright play of the game was a Nik inbound under basket with only 0.9 sec and pops it up to Cuz for easy layin for 2. Ben starts the 4th, Nik getting back in at 4:47 mark for Ben. Catch and shoot top of key misses. Makes space for elbow jumper, misses rim entirely. Nik in fast break 4 on 2 tries layup gets banged pretty good but makes only 1 of 2 FT. Guarding Marcus Smart. Next possession drives down low, quick burst for layin. --Cruz

Stats: 11min 0pts (0-0, 0-0, 1-2) 3reb 1ast 1stl 0blk 1TO
Evans ( F ) --I should probably never agree to grade Reggie Evans again as my bias against bad basketball is always going to result in a poor grade. On defense, he was giving up everything inside with poor rotations and awful court awareness. Every time the team throws him the ball in the high post, I just lose my ever loving mind as it always turns into a garbage shot against the shot clock. I wonder if we could trade him for Chuck Hayes. --Hadlowe?

Stats: 16min 2pts (1-5, 0-2, 0-0) 2reb 0ast 0stl 0blk 1TO
Williams ( D ) -- Derrick came in in the end of the 1st quarter. He started the 2nd quarter with a coast to coast drive for an easy layup. DWill is not a good rebounder. When boxing out Crowder, the ball literally fell in front of him and he did not have a clue how to take it. DWill was unable to convert open 3-pointer after some nice ball movement. After that DWill did not touch the ball for several minutes. The jumper from the free throw line was contested and did not fall. After the entry of Casspi, keeping Olynyk appeared difficult. Casspi on the floor helps DWill as Casspi finds him for touches. Finally DWill rebounds and tries a long pass to Casspi, which was just a bit short. First touch after playing minutes in the fourth quarter results in an air ball from the corner. The a nice 360 degrees, but no basket. Derrick continued with no touches and with no serious defensive effort. Not a good game and one of those with no clear commitment to be part of the effort. Not enough to take it to the C area. --Kingston

Casspi ( C- ) -- Omri started nice with an inbound pass finding wide open BenMc for a short jumper for two. Casspi continued later with great inbound passes by giving an easy two for DMC. Casspi switched to keep Crowder. After a nice pass from Ray, Omri was pickpocketed by Crowder. Not a good looking move. Right after that Casspi dribbled himself under the basket, but in the traffic was unable to find anyone to pass the ball to. Luckily out of balance and not a TO. Able to draw a foul from Crowder on a drive, but missing both FTs. Fighting Sullinger under the basket for a fast break picks up a drop by DMC in the other end, but can't convert. Overall Casspi showed good intensity in defense and was able to divert a number of shots. In the 4th quarter Omri was involved and continued to contest shots in defense. The other thing that Omri showed was that he still looks for passes to his fellow players. A meager 2 points, but his defense with rebounds and passes to teammates just barely elevated the play to the C area. --Kingston

Stats: Better Than Most of the Guys Who Actually Played
Thompson ( A+ ) -- For having the good fortune of sitting out this clusterslump and showing how valuable he actually is guarding versatile scoring PF's like Sullinger. --Kingston

One of the few Kings games I ever stopped watching. The body language of the players told me to stop watching. So I did.
Tyrone Corbin's interim tag has been removed for the remainder of the season. Oh goody, I'm sure that will make all the difference.

how many fouls do opposing bigs have? he could get all the opposing bigs in foul trouble opening things up for penetrators to get layups bc their bigs don't want to foul out. simple recipe for success? don't need analytics to see that.

A big part of today's problems was that the officials were NOT calling fouls on their bigs.

Vivek, Mullin, PDA, would you please let the coaches run the game the way they want. Let the coaches choose the best "style" to play and which players to play and when. I know the team is not playing well. Best move, let the coaches and players work it out. And let the coach tell you where on the roster the teams needs new players and who can go to get that done.

Let the front office be cut back to an call work status- on call by the head coach, that is. It can't hurt.

at this point, i hope pete just comes out and says we are tanking this season...really-no other answer/explanation will me make me happy...That is the only way to make sense of this...

Just a few questions I have:

1) of all the PFs that we collected on this team we decide to go with Ryan Hollins?

2) How many bunnies did DMC miss today?

3) Is this the "new style?"

It was just awful.

At this point, besides firing PDA, what else can be done to fix this mess?

If i was vivkek I would honestly just call up Malone again and beg for forgiveness...

This is some of the worst sounding Jazz music I have ever heard in my life btw! Good job Pete!
Why would they do that? Corbin has done such a good job that they signed him up for the rest of the season. Did you see that Knicks game? The team is playing wonderfully under his tenure.

Has to be Karl. Only way to fix this.

Well....

Karl + firing PDA + Vivek publicly apologizing for his meddling as well as promising (and keeping the promise) to never, EVER, EEEEVER influence basketball decisions again.

This team will be a laughing stock for as long as Chris Mullin is part of this franchise. He is the cancer eating this franchise from within

Boy...am I glad I didn't get to watch this one. Rudy with 10 turnovers? Cousins getting ejected? sounds about right to me. Deep down inside me I welcome losses and I know Cousins won't like it but there really is nothing that can be done at this point, the damage has been done and this season is a wash and that's what the front office is telling the fan base and the players by staying with Corbin for the remainder of the year. It was so fun to be a Kings fan again in the first month and now we are back to lottery purgatory....sigh.

The rest of the NBA is laughing. But they are all secretly grateful to Vivek, Pete and Mullin that they will not have to face the Malone led Sacramento Kings going forward. Cousins was murdering all the Bigs inside earlier this year before the meningitis. Now instead of a hard fought game and a likely loss the other teams see the Kings games as likely wins.

Do you think Memphis was looking forward to a true rematch???? Hell no!

How would firing PDA fix this?

This is a serious question. No matter how much culpability you put in PDA's hands over the Malone firing (and I don't doubt that Vivek was fully on board), firing PDA does not undo it. Malone is gone, and he's not coming back. Firing somebody else doesn't fix that.

While we're at it, let's at least acknowledge Cousins' tweet this morning in response to PDA, calling him a "G" and giving him a big thumbs up for scheduling a radio appearance with Carmichael Dave to address the issues surrounding the team. Does Cousins want PDA fired? I don't know, but it doesn't sound like it. It almost sounds like he likes PDA. Do we really want to fire another guy Cousins likes?

On top of that, PDA has made some pretty good moves during his tenure. Nobody is perfect, and there are contracts like Sessions' and Landry's that are not working out. But this is the GM that traded spare parts for our #2 player in Gay. This is the GM that brought Gay back on a sub-market extension. Ben McLemore? Check. Darren Collison? Check. Omri Casspi? Check. There are other guys who have looked good for stretches. Ray McCallum was a second-rounder and was the apple of everybody's eye until his recent struggles. Nik has some potential. Derrick Williams has certainly shown flashes of ability, both before the Gay acquisition and for much of this month. Everybody seems to love the idea of Eric Moreland. Outside of the Malone firing, there's a lot to like here on the personnel side. And it is rumored that PDA is (or at least prior to removing Corbin's interim title was) in favor of hiring Karl, the one move that could do more than anything else I can imagine to actually fix this mess.

So I ask, do you envision a clear path towards fixing our problems that starts with firing PDA? If you do, what is that path? Or are you calling for his head merely out of vengeance?

If we can grade on a curve, my A should bring Boogie up to a C.
You would give our star an A for pouting his way through a game? Sorry, I was grading the actual on-court performance, not whether or not he might have sabotaged a game to carry out a juvenile act of retribution against a front office you don't like.
