I see what you did there! Psychologist to Psychiatrist... lol
So I'll give you my pop psychological analysis of what Malone said in his post game. He's very angry at them for their effort because that implies he thinks they can be much better than they currently have shown; he believes in their ability and if they can only access it they will be just fine. If he really told them what he really thinks - he doesn't believe they currently have the talent to compete - they would completely lose all confidence and totally tank. Anger is much better than sympathy in this situation. Resident shrink, what say you?

I like how he emphasized that we cannot be overly reliant on jumpshots. That statement in itself is music to my ears.
There are two problems with this trade proposal:Trade Thornton/Thompson and Vasquez for Lin and Asik we got a PG who can pass and break down the D and a defensive stopper...
While I hate Lin he does breakdown defences and pass and he's a better defender/creator than Vasquez he can actually draw fouls and set up Cousins/other bigs for easy buckets, the reason we keep Patterson is cause his contract expires for cap room next yearThere are two problems with this trade proposal:
- It puts Jeremy Lin on the Sacramento Kings.
- It leaves Patrick Patterson on the Sacramento Kings.
The kings should add a psychologist to their team of medical /performance staff. Too much misery. Either that or just leave some of these guys at the bus stop.
The first point is a matter of opinion. The second actually makes Patterson more tradeable. While I hate Lin he does breakdown defences and pass and he's a better defender/creator than Vasquez he can actually draw fouls and set up Cousins/other bigs for easy buckets, the reason we keep Patterson is cause his contract expires for cap room next year
Yeah Patterson is more tradeable for sure but if we get Asik imo we don't need Thompson plus his contract runs for like 4more years, Lin is for sure way better at getting to the rim and creating for others, Vasquez needs good off the ball movement to get his assists we atm have trouble scoring other than Cousins and IT we need a guy who can create and assist and while there are plenty better than Lin and I hate the dude with a passion imo Vasquez can't put pressure on other PG's either way Lin can at least attacking and getting teams into foul trouble. The first point is a matter of opinion. The second actually makes Patterson more tradeable.
Just to bring up an issue that was being discussed in the game thread - IT just has to pass the ball. I'm not even talking about who gets the shots, or about him passing to a wide open Ben McLemore or Jimmer. I'm talking about like here, take the ball, now pass it to someone while I run in a circle then give it back to me. IT in the first half almost literally did not pass the ball at all, which is astonishing to say the least for a PG. And I would have imagined that a PG would understand the need to let others FEEL involved. Anyone who has worked in any group, be it sports or just a school project knows this. If you don't feel like you're appreciated or that nobody cares about your input, then you're not going to feel motivated to perform at your best. The same goes in basketball - if you're not touching the ball, you won't want to play hard, plain and simple. Sure, we can talk about how these are professional athletes being paid millions of dollars, yadayadayada, but it's human psychology (maybe Glenn can step in and back me up here with some real theory)! And moving beyond that, maybe you could argue that guys like Luc and Chuck are out there to play defense. Fair enough, but what about Ben and Jimmer? They are out there primarily as offensive weapons, and very much to their credit I thought both of them played very hard and hustled all game long despite not getting that many touches.
Jimmer, while lacking the ballhandling of IT, is a far more natural PG (other than suspect play right at the end). He was feeding Cuz in rhythm, got the ball to GV for an open 3 and so on. A very good game for him despite it not showing on the stat sheet, and frankly I really feel that he deserves to play over MT and Salmons.
Cousins is a beast.

You don't need my opinion. You laid it out very well. How often will guys who fight off the ball to get open keep doing that if there is no reward to it? It's a team game (duh!) and pretty soon IT will find that all his self important energizing will leave him as the only guy on the court working hard. IT may score a lot but a disheartened group of team mates may not work hard at not only getting open but rebounding and the like. It's human nature. I am hoping this "new culture" has to do with developing an unselfish team. Everybody benefits from an unselfish team although IT may get less accolades from the TV announcers. In an unselfish team, IT will be the recipient if he is open. He doesn't have to hang on to the ball as if he will never get it back or pretty soon he will find that HE doesn't get it back. What good is that if it plays out that way. The other 4 are not his caddies. On Friday he seemed to be looking more for his team mates so it seems obvious that he can change and still be a great contributor.
BTW, am I the only one who suspects that all the positive hysterics about IT is on direction from management to keep interest in the team and sell tickets. Grant and Jerry do not help the problem, if we agree IT's selfishness is a problem, by pumping up his ego about his spectacular plays. Yes he is spectacular but I think there is a price to be paid for that. Heck, VF21 already laid this out very well as have others. I don't understand why IT's special fans can't see what is trying to be said. They don't have to agree but at least try to understand the point being made.
Not really unlike the current two Pf's he actually understands the concept of boxing out and he plays D with aggression and is physical plus a lot of the rebounds against us atm are cause of the non stop penetration forcing rotations and our guards/forwards not boxing anyone out I never seen a team box out so little as we do atm.No one graded Luc....not sure what grade he gets but I liked what I saw from him on defense there at the end. He helped make it difficult on Lamarcus A. I see how he's considered a good defensive player. Moves his feet, long arms, just enough quickness, but he knows HOW to play defense. If he plays PF, we are weaker on the boards but then he's no worse than PPat on the boards. I think Malone let these first 6 games play themselves out and now when the changes come.....the guys getting replaced can't say they didn't have an opportunity.

YES.
This was my first time seeing it. This guy is a leader becuase he puts so much of himself into the team... something the slackers he's calling out don't do. Yes, he IS taking it personally, but more importantly he's demonstrating that everybody needs to take it personally. Some aren't.
I love his decisiveness. This is not lineup tinkering. You do what you need to do Coach Malone.

Grant and Jerry do too much cheerleading, talking about how fun IT is to watch all the time. I think they are just trying to sell tickets.
Talking up players is sorta Grant's forte. I'll never forget the days after the "moveable pieces" trade when he kept favorably comparing K9 to C-Webb.
Who is K9?
btw Where are Bill Walton, Jim Gray etc.? Were those just Maloof marketing ploys?
