The doctor that operated Vasquez checked his progress yesterday and stated that Vasquez will not be ready to play in FIBA Americas in September but he should be ready for training camp.
Even though it sounds worrying, this may actually be good news for the Kings for two reasons:
1st, if he was to play just coming of rehab he would have been really vulnerable for a new injury due to the role he plays in the Venezuelan team (He basicly does everything and plays over 35 minutes per game).
2nd, History tell us that when he goes back to play with his National team, he goes into "I have to do everything" mode, and then it takes him a long time to come back to earth after that. I remember Monty Williams last year during training camp mentioning how hard it was to get Greivis to come down and play within his means, due to the role he was playing in the Olympic qualifying tournament just before training camp started.
Additionally, as this tournament is held in Venezuela, having his local crowd behind him would probably make him try harder and increase even more the likelihood of a new injury.
