go vote for your allstars on NBA.COM

Already??? Geez! Most teams have only played 7-9 games, and they already want votes for the All Star team. Just goes to show it is popularity, and not who is having a good year.

I am NOT voting for any Kings to go to the All-Star game. This travesty of basketball is a popularity contest which has gotten to the point where it's simply show-boating on a national level. Blech...

Thanks for the notice ,Anyway guys vote when ever and where ever you guys can, i wanna see our boys starting the All-Star game !
Am I the only one who doesn't want to see any of them go? Purely selfish of me, I don't want any twisted ankles etc. and would just as soon they rested up on that week-end. Eh, I'll vote anyway:D I just won't be all that broke up if they don't go.

LPKingsFan's complimentary 7-9 game all star team:

West:
C: Yao Ming
F: Amare Staudemire
F: Dirk Nowitzki
G: Ray Allen
G: Kobe Bryant

East:
C: Ben Wallace
F: Ron Artest
F: Grant Hill
G: LeBron James (who should be listed as a forward on the ballot, but isn't)
G: Paul Pierce

Why not?? Bibby is averaging 18.3 points a game on 47.4 fg%, 6 assist, and shooting 48.5% from 3 point land.

Miller is averaging 16.4 points a game on 54% fg shooting, 8.8 rebounds, 87.5 ft% and shooting 100% from 3 point land!

Webber is averaging 18.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists(nuff said)

Peja is just starting to return to form and his stats go up each game and he is now already averaging 19.3 points a game.

So the fact is, if you vote for our Kings, it would be a legit vote on stats, not just the popular vote.

A number of those guys aren't going to be able to sustain. Also don't think you can knock KG or Shaq out of the starting lineups. :) Still, perhaps a good sign of why allowing people to vote this early in the season just underscores the total hooey aspect of fan voting.

why would you vote for Yao Ming? Have you looked at his weak stats?? He is 38th in block shots and 30th in rebounding?? How pathetic is that for someone 7 5"

Exactly. That's why they're they 7 game all star team, not the midseason one ;)

The all-star game should be called the "let's get together and have a party" weekend. It comes in the middle of the season, and puts players at risk for absolutely NO REASON. (Ask Brad Miller...)

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I feel no need to see any of "our Kings" in the all-star game. I know how good they are and, quite frankly, don't care what the rest of the NBA viewing audience thinks. Since they've allowed voting on the Internet, the whole thing has become one big popularity contest with the big market teams getting the most votes.

The game is going to be held in February. The fact they're allowing voting now proves beyond all shadow of a doubt that it's just about popularity and bragging rights, not truly the best of the league pitted against each other.

I say again...Blech.

But that's just my three cents.

I think that's a very good 7-9 game assessment. My votes would be exactly the same, except I'd give KG or Andrei Kirilenko the nod over Amare. And in the East you have to go with Zydrunas Ilgauskas. He's been on fire.

As a side note, what I want to see this year is the 3-PT contest among centers.

Ahhhhh! Why bother? Just give the trophy to Brad. :D
I don't know ... I think the Big Z could give him some good competition. Who knows, maybe Vlade will be a sleeper in the competition.

Hopefully Mike makes it this year.
He should have a pretty good shot, albeit as a backup. Figure the fans (in other words the media who pretty much 100% control the fan/sheep voting) will vote Kobe and McGrady in regardless of stats. Then the coaches will probably take 2 pure PGs and use any extra guard spots on people like Allen or Ginobilli (has anybody noticed how he's blossoming?). I'm betting Cassel is going to age and fall off considerably this year, so he's out. On the other hand Nash will get the lion's share of the credit in Phoenix and has a good shot. Then it wil come down to guys like Parker (overrated) and Bibby. There really aren't that many top flight PGs amongst the good teams in the West. Utah doesn't ahve one, Dallas doesn't have one. SA only has Parker. Memphis only has JWill, and only play him 30mpg. The Lakers don't have one. Denver's slow start is probably hamstringing Miller. As noted, I'm betting Cassel is going to fade a bit. Etc. You look around, outside of the Nash franchise resurrection, there's really nobody to steal Bibby's thunder.

P.S. I've always enjoyed the NBA All-Star game. The NFL should (maybe did? ) jut cancel theirs as irrelevant. NBA has a little party mid-season. Nice little celebration of the game, and breaks up the season. Found the Brad injury ironic given the concerns occasionally expressed here, but it almsot never happens. Practice is proabbl more hazardous than playing in an All-Star game with a bunch of guys not trying very hard.

Good points. Actually Amare is playing center this year so you could slide him over and add either KG or AK47. Then again, I put James at guard because that's where he is on the ballot, so I had to do the same for Amare.

That's the problem. Brad acutally looked like he was putting some effort out there. What was he thinking? :)

i personally would love to see our players in the all stars game.

i love to see them goofing off and truly having fun out there. i know we see it in regular season as well, but there's something about the all star games,
oh, yeah, and the 3 point contest. that's the highlight of my all star weekend.

anyway, our guys are not made of glass, their chances of getting hurt is just as good as any regular game, or even less, because those guys would not be playing to win out there, they'd just be having fun.

Yeah, I remember you saying that right before the All-Star game.

The one thing that has hurt our team the most has been injuries. If they get injured during a game, that's part of the game. If they get injured during the stupid blasted "little party," then it's just dumb.

I refuse to condone flirting with fate that way...

;)

I will gladly vote to help our plsyers to get that weekend off.Cnsidering the incredible talent to get injured ion sleep which most of our players posses, why give them an additional chance. If we could get RA to go that would be great. ANyone else - no thanks.

The Kings flirt with fate everytime they wake up in the morning. We just had a guy break his hand tripping over a stool in the dark. There is nowhere that's safe from the curse of the Kings. ;)
