The Kings have hired George Karl as their coach, sources have confirmed to The Bee.

Karl’s hiring will not be formally announced until after the All-Star Game, according to sources, because team officials don’t want the hire to distract from center DeMarcus Cousins’ first appearance in the annual game on Sunday.

Honestly, I'd like to hear this from the FO and its mystifying that they remain silent. You know, so as to not create a distraction for Demarcus.

They are reportedly holding off on an announcement until after ASB. I agree though.

I guess I do understand the awkward timing of it. They want to wait till after Corbin's last game, and then we're on All-Star break. I'd like to see Karl formally introduced in presser on Friday, but I think he'll still be attending to Dean Smith's funeral (I believe I read that he'll be there Thursday and Friday).

While I want sooner, post All Star game might be the best timing for it all.

Thing is, they didn't wait.

It just got announced again just now, and yesterday, and on Monday.

I've seen this announced in multiple media outlets for days.

Contract terms? No one knows? Length? Who knows? But everyone is sure it's a done deal. It's just odd.

It's not a secret. Why wait? This is just more buffoonery.

So sick of this I can't even get excited anymore even when they seem to have done something good they execute it so awfully.

If they made the announcement tonight after the game or tomorrow, I wont be upset. While they've already treated Corbin like sh**, I guess this is one final attempt to respect him and wait until his final game is over. After that, though, there's no reason to not even release a statement or formal announcement. Hell, they could even look good here and maybe earn some points if they publicly state the are waiting to have a press conference out of respect for Boogie and his first all star game. Just say something.

Best coach since Rick, easily.

I'm going to allow myself a little optimism, and hope that this is the beginning of a turnaround.

I'll also hope that Vivek learned his lesson and will back off. Bonus points if PDA gets fired this summer. Extra bonus points if the same happens to Mully.

Anyways, Karl obviously needs to get on Cousins good side first thing. Hopefully his agents don't poison him to the idea of Karl as coach (if they haven't already).

I feel like this could either go really well for us, or blow up. Leaning towards the former.

I just hope the guys on our team aren't too far gone this season. They've built such a pattern of zero effort or drive, it's going to take some work to give them a winning mindset again. Karl can do it, I just hope the guys help him out a little.

This is making things really difficult. I thought I was supposed to be angry because the team leaked something that was done but was holding off on the press conference. But now maybe I'm supposed to be angry because the team leaked something that WASN'T done.

But wait, Jones got his info from "league" sources and not "team" sources? So...I'm supposed to be angry that the team DIDN'T leak something that wasn't done. Is that right? I'm so confused.

We just hired a HOF coach who happens to be the most proven candidate of any currently or potentially available.

If you said that you're waiting until the ink is dry to believe it, I understand. But the dude has been around for decades, and is attending a friend's funeral. From what we're hearing, he agreed to join the team, but wants to wait a week.

You need to seriously assess whether you care more about having a winning team in sacramento or having something to ***** and moan about. Yes, this organization has been bush league, but George Karl is the best hope of bringing professionalism, stability, respect, and winning basketball to Sacramento.

But no, we can't have that. It might get in the way of spamming posts about murdering gerbils.

I had hope this season, and it got crap all over, I can't move past that as easily as some of you smiling assholes who think one move fixes all. I guess that's what they banked on, a moronic fan base who can be dicked around endlessly and will still come back asking for more.

Hopefully this just means that they agreed in principle to a framework of the deal and it's just negotiations with his agents over the terms.

Which IS kind of scary, seeing as Karl has all the power here and can easily get another team to meet his demands. There is definitely a chance that he uses us to get leverage on another deal but, for now, I'm okay believing that he will be on the sidelines for us against Boston.
