I still cringe when I hear PDA speak.
Very surprised to hear him admit he made mistakes.

He seems to have a quiet confidence about taking this job. He also appears to be seeing the job as part of building his legacy.Karl was impressive. I like his answer to the last question when a reporter asked if he was going to have a sit down discussion with Cousins when he got back. He laughed and said, I'm going to have a lot of sit down discussions with Cousins. I''ll probably have 20 discussions with him in the next 20 days. He may not like a lot of them though. ....
It's funny because (like many people when they say they made a mistake) he did not use I.Very surprised to hear him admit he made mistakes.
As long as they stop using #SacramentoProud. I'm Sacramento proud, but goodness have they overused that or what?!This move definately buys PDA some time. Marketing can now go back to selling hope again for *next year as always and the storm will calm. Now PDA is truely on the clock to turn this thing into a winner, if no improvement is made thru next season he is as good as gone.

I was typing as he was speaking, but I think he said,"I put Ty in an impossible situation" and "you have to acknowledge what you did was wrong." "At the time I didn't recognize that."

I understand that Karl is supposed to be interviewed some time during what is usually Napear's timeslot.
It amuses me how much more natural and less stilted Carmichael Dave sounds on the radio than Napear. It's like Napear took the advice about controlling your breathing while on the air about ten steps too far.
I don't know what Napear going to college to be a broadcaster or whether I like him or not has to do with his shortcomings on the radio. The former doesn't particularly qualify him for the latter.Well, Napier did go to college to become a sports announcer. He is a professional, whether you happen to like him or not.

Wow, I get the sense that you might be reacting to a conversation that I was not a part of. I neither dislike or like PDA. I am a social scientist and find it interesting the way people in public life talk about and admit mistakes. I made a comment on it.You know, your just parsing words now. He admitted that he made a mistake. Period! OK? Do we really have to quible about how he said it. Do you dislike him that much? I don't have time for that kind of nonsense.
And all that I am 'simply' saying is that Grant Napear is not the only guy in his business who has been trained to be a professional broadcaster, but he's one of only two people I've ever heard on radio who talks like he talks on the radio, which leads me to believe that his affectation doesn't have anything to do with how he was trained. You know sometimes, I think you just look for an argument. I never said his going to college had anything to do with your liking him or in your opinion, his shortcomings. I don't know why you like of dislike him, nor do I care. I was simply saying that the reason he may sound the way he does is because he was trained to be a professional broadcaster, and Dave wasn't.

And just as an aside, words and tone are important.
No problem. But see you used I there. If you were in public life, you might have said "When you are on an internet forum, you sometimes misread people and then you have to apologize."Unfortunately on a forum like this, you don't get to read the expression on a persons face, nor hear the inflection of a persons voice. Sorry if I misread you. I humbly apologize....

And, FWIW, from my point of view, you're being the argumentative one. I made a post in which I contrasted Napear's style with Carmichael Dave, and then you decided to cape up for Napear. And, you know, that's whatever; you're free to say what you want. Just don't try to make it sound like I'm trying to pick a fight, when that's not how it went down. Me choosing not to let your direct quote of my post go unanswered does not constitute me 'looking for an argument'.

But you are right, PDA was candid about the mistake he made and took responsibility for it, even though I'm sure there were other players involved.
It wasn't meant to defend Napier, or cape up as you say, whatever the hell that means.
Of course she also told me to never trust a person wearing a bow tie.
My grandmother told me when I was young man to beware of people that constantly use the word I. Of course she also told me to never trust a person wearing a bow tie.
It makes me so excited to know that the Kings have a coach. And not just a coach, but one of THE coaches. He might be the best coach the Kings have ever had (forgive me Rick).
When we were losing by 20pts a night and they were posting to social media a dunk highlight and the score had us laughably out of the game with a #SacramentoProud I lashed out at whoever was posting those sometimes. As long as they stop using #SacramentoProud. I'm Sacramento proud, but goodness have they overused that or what?!
Well, hey, I'm not "frigging attacking you, or your post," either. "OK!" I just don't know why you thought that I wouldn't reply to you replying to me? Exactly how often do you think that happens, where I am concerned? You made a general statement about the difference between how Napier sounded on the radio, and how Dave sounded on the radio. I thought it was an interesting take, and offered that perhaps the difference came from the fact that Napier was professionally trained. It wasn't meant to defend Napier, or cape up as you say, whatever the hell that means. I was just responding to your general comment. It wasn't mean't to be critical, supportive, or critical of you, Napier, or Carmichael Dave. To be honest, I didn't expect a response to my post, since it was meant only as my opinion on why they might have a different approach, and wasn't meant to be an endorsement of either of them. OK! I'm not frigging attacking you, or your post.

FYI - to "cape up" means to come to the rescue, to defend (as in to don your superhero cape)
And having said that, I'm getting out here. Way too much scrutiny of words IMHO. I'm so glad we get back to being able to focus on the things I like to talk about on Friday.
GO KINGS!!!
