Maybe Ainge could trade him to GS and then Mullin could give him the standard 4-year $36 million contract.

Ryle said:I'm all for it but I don't think the Kings could make it work financially. Payton makes about 5 million and to make the trade work you would have to throw the Big O or Bobby Jackson into the deal and I don't see why Boston would do this. Even though Jackson is hurt he can still be traded.
Another article today has Payton saying he thinks he is going to be traded to either Minnesota or Sacramento. Doubtful Phoenix gets him because they just don't have the contracs to send back to Boston.
Here's the blurb from the Globe:
"As far the NBA's worst kept trade secret, point guard Gary Payton figures he'll be on the move to another team in the next few weeks. He thinks the potential suitors are Sacramento and Minnesota"

Ryle said:I did some checking and the Kings do have 2 trade exceptions available....one for about $920,000 and the other for about 1.7 Million so they could package Bobby with the larger one and trade for Payton........Boy, I would hate to see the people complain if that one ever went through![]()
